Honestly I just hope my parents pass before shit hits the fan. I don’t want them suffering with their health issues trying to make it with us. Especially if we end up having to leave the country. Well great, now I’m even more fucking depressed

Isn’t that what Bannon bases his world view on?

The most frustrating thing about these conversations is understanding the frustrations some had with vaccine mandates* with the fear being something to the affect of "if you give 'them' this much power, they'll never give it back and they'll just keep taking" but then those same people being unmoved when that they [checks notes] gave it all back, just like they said they would.

*and, obviously, mistakes were made

If we are ever able to get past this Nazi regime and look back at the wreckage, these people will blame it all on the power the liberals gave the government during COVID.

Yes but I believe he embraces the turn… kind of like how the Nazis embraced Oswald Spengler’s “Decline of the West” in the 1930s…

I'd put more stock in that book/theory's predictive power if it weren't for the fact that so many on the right are actively trying to make it true.

You want to truly be terrified by a book's predictive power? Read Parable of the Sower.

He’s obviously not a project manager. If so, those projects would be a mess. It would go something like this.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Hey Ragde, I’m supposed to deliver and install the rebar five working days before the concrete pour. Can you confirm the date of the pour?

Ragde: There’s a flock of ducks that keeps waddling over from the nearby pond onto the worksite.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Okay. But, please confirm the date of the pour.

Ragde: These ducks are a nuisance. They’ll likely fly south when winter approaches.

GenXer Rebar Inc: Yeah, ducks will be ducks. Again, please confirm the date of the pour.

Ragde: Good news! The ducks have gone to the conservationist corners of the pond.

My MAGA brother and his friends are all convinced that all that Armageddon Mad Max timeline will be only be suffered by the unbelievers.  All the righteous white evangelicals will be swept up by the rapture balloons in the nick of time.

Let's don't think critically and vote for people to improve life on earth for all, let's just burn it all down while we line our pockets (to make the last few days as comfortable as possible) then tell everyone to pray for our nation(fuck the rest of the world).  God will send the rapture like he did the ark.  But to be doubly sure you get passage, bring along your Trump Bible.

Since were talking doctors, my mother (78) has a GP who told her the Covid vaccine isn’t safe, and it’s causing strokes and heart attacks in younger people in numbers we shouldn't be seeing. Ironically, my mother is relatively sane and believes subject matter experts. So she now thinks the covid vaccine is why my sister had a stroke at 50, not because she’s morbidly obese with high blood pressure and no health insurance and stopped taking her BP medication. It was the vaccine.

I told my GP about this at my physical last week and she legitimately was sad and seemed interested in me finding the name of my mom’s doctor so she could report the doctor to the medical board.

Doctors can be idiots too.

Oh, my sweet summer child.  It takes 38 states....if you presume that there are 50 "legal and valid states" from whom ratification is required.  See, there are defects in the process of several states purportedly joining the union....and gosh, it just so happens that all of those states are blue states.  Signed, 5-4 SCOTUS opinion.

Again, y'all keep thinking I'm kidding.  Go read opinions like Bruen again.  There is no law.  There are no precedents.  There is only Calvinball.  This is the play.

I don't know how it is where y'all live, but here, if you're within 30 miles of UAB, you can get A+ medical care. Move about 50 miles out, it's all Cs Get Degrees types of doctors. I talk to people in waiting rooms, and appointments that took me a week to get, some of them had to jump through hoops for a year to satisfy their GP before they could get specialized care.

Two worlds.

He’s right, it’s definitely the vaccine causing increased stroke rates and definitely not obesity rates or the hyper inflammatory virus that has a propensity for vasculature. This is not to say I’m not an idiot doctor, but there’s levels to this. A spectrum if you will.

He also stated that aid would go through "us" (him).  So I assume, bend the knee, you get aid.  Alabama and Mississippi already kiss his ass, so they'll be covered.  California, on the other hand, can get fucked.

A reporter asked about conditions on North Carolina since he's already applied two conditions on CA aid (one of them related to voter ID).  Trump of course, made no demand of NC.

Equality under the law no longer applies.  But we already knew that.
