I'm not sure he even understands the meaning of the word strawman. My argument is that he is a hypocrite. It isn't a strawman to use evidence of his hypocrisy. It is my core argument.

It's not a deflection to point out context to the people that have a newfound interest in banging their chests about politicalization at CDC/FDA.

Committee votes to endorse 2025/6 flu vaccination recommendations, passes 6/0/1

The 3 SDV (thimerosal-free) recommendations all pass 5/1/1 - Meissner as the lone no.

Pebsworth is an idiot. Malone is not good at articulating himself, his questions are all muddled but some of his points reasonable, others way off in outer space. The MIT guy seems out of place. Meissner now calling out AAP for boycotting the meeting. LOL. Way to wrap that up.

Just to be clear, you have not provided evidence of anything of the sort. You have made vague accusations that we can certainly dive into on the relevant threads.

Good talk though yall. Fun to wade through the waves of ad hominem. One ACIP meeting down, a new RSV immunization endorsed, endorsement of the 25/26 flu vaccine recommendations, and recommendations to use thimerosal-free SDVs. Not quite the apocalyptic end times outcome, but there is always next time I guess.

The immediate pivot to "RFK is going to mandate tracking devices on all Americans" is great and really thematically spot on.

AAP recommended removing thimerosal from vaccines in 1999.

AAP continuing to issue their own vaccine guidance is legitimately a good thing.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that no one has posted a tweet talking about the CDC expanding the scope of RSV vaccination recommendations.

It was a recommendation of the ACIP back in April, before RFK fired them all

Correct. And the way that it works is that ACIP advisory recommendations go to the director of the CDC (effectively RFK Jr. right now since the position has not been confirmed), who can either reject them or accept them. This week Kennedy adopted two recommendations, one related to meningococcal and the other to expanded scope for RSV vaccines. The most recent example of a CDC director rejecting an ACIP recommendation was during the prior admin when Walensky rejected an ACIP recommendation that placed some limitations on the scope of COVID booster recs.

Balancing killing as many citizens as possible, while spending as little as possible on their care, sure seems like the current governing principle. We’ve skipped death panels and have empowered death departments.

Well shit.

A resident of Arizona has died from pneumonic plague, health officials confirmed on Friday.

This was the first recorded death from the disease in the county since 2007, Coconino County Health and Human Services reported. In that case, a person had an interaction with a dead animal infected with the disease.

Plague, known as the "Black Death" in the 14th century, killed up to half of Europe's population. It is now rare in humans and can be treated with antibiotics.

It's almost like pasteurization is a critical step in food safety or something

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/florida-reports-21-cases-ecoli-infections-linked-raw-milk-2025-08-04/

Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Florida Department of Health said on Monday that there have been 21 cases of Campylobacter and E. coli infections linked to drinking raw milk in the state, including six children under 10.
The state health department reported seven hospitalizations linked to the consumption of raw milk containing disease-causing bacteria from a particular farm in Northeast/Central Florida.
"Sanitation practices in this farm are of particular concern due to the number of cases," the health department said.
The Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Campylobacter infections can cause diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps. In severe cases, they can cause kidney failure, which is of particular concern for children, the health department said.
In Florida, raw milk is sold only for non-human consumption as pet or animal food, which limits sanitary regulation efforts. Containers must be clearly labeled that the raw milk is for animal consumption only.
Federal health officials have warned against consuming raw milk due to the bird flu outbreak in the United States.
U.S. Health Secretary Kennedy has been a proponent of raw milk.

Looks like another illness brewing in China

Passed by mosquito. Not fatal, but doesn’t sound fun.

Chikungunya is a mosquito-born virus that presents most commonly with a headache, muscle pain, nausea, fatigue, rash and swollen joints. Joint pain can last for years. Yay.

How many shots did you take and how many times did you have COVID?

mRNA tech needs to be kept in the stable, the rapid response capability is important. But it has not proven out to be a particularly durable solution. We need sterilizing vaccines, IgA eliciting nasally administered vaccines, and traditional subunit protein vaccines to round out. Everyone should now be basically transitioning to novavax for covid until a nasally administered sterilizing vaccine comes to market. Shifting the research dollars is appropriate, but mRNA needs to be kept in the back pocket.

I’ve had 4 or 5 shots. Had COVID twice. Both times thankfully were mild.

Agree to disagree on your takes regarding novavax and mrna tech.

You can disagree with anything you like. Doesn't really change the real world evidence.
