June 11Jun 11 Popular Post 1. St Tropez last night 2. I always enjoy when you can’t tell where the water ends and the sky begins 3. A pretty neat sailboat in town for the regatta. No yachts in town, just sailboats
June 11Jun 11 I love going down to the docks and see the boats, especially working boats, whenever we visit Coastal towns.

The guys/gals working the boats that I’ve encountered here in St Tropez have always been really nice and open to talking about the boats. It’s pretty cool because I know next to nothing about them

June 19Jun 19 Popular Post A few from our recent trip. We visited a few theme parks, a cave and a zoo and it was hard getting some photos (24-105 lens is what I took with me). Hard getting this leopard. She wouldn't come out but for a brief moment, and I couldn't stay there the entire day: My better half coming down the drop; she's in the front row. She loves coasters, so this face she is making is hilarious And a moment later: She and my daughter rode a log flume ride a day later; I caught the entire sequence from the top to the bottom, but I liked this one Marvel Cave, Missouri. I only took a few photos; I was more interested in the actual hike. Looking up after the inital hike down, with sunlight streaming in through a sinkhole: Edited June 19Jun 19 by Francisco 2.0
June 19Jun 19 Visited LA area over the weekend. Lunada Bay: Sandstone Peak, North of Malibu: Point Dume, Malibu
June 25Jun 25 Walked around the Manassas battlefield this afternoon. Twas but 103 degrees but I did take a while to imagine the short-range artillery battle in July ‘61 at first Bull Run where they wailed on each other from a mere 300 yards. One can imagine the blood soaked earth.
June 26Jun 26 Popular Post I had some meetings in southern British Columbia in Fernie/Sparwood this week. I flew into Calgary and drove through Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park and did some hiking along the way. The pics below are from Johnston Canyon in Banff and Marble Canyon and Numa Falls in Kootenay.

June 28Jun 28 All my life we had a Lone Star bottle opener and I had never had a Lone Star. In Houston for the Dynamos v St Louis MLS game, and I’ve now had Lone Star. It’s good

July 11Jul 11 Blue Angels from a few years back. They fly the hell out of that C-130! I miss this air show.
July 14Jul 14 I like the convenience of having pictures on my phone. I am not a tech geek so I am probably doing a lot of things wrong or there is an easier way but it is something that I know and am comfortable with. I travel a lot domestically and internationally therefore I have a lot of opportunities for some really cool photos. I actually use the photos on my phone as a sort of a diary of my travels for both work and play. Though I get some decent photos (many shared on here) with my I-Phone 11, there are times where I would like to zoom in and bring some distant siting into a closer view. I am really not that interested in purchasing a camera to solve the problem but would rather buy some type of attachment or some sort of Bluetooth gadget that I could zoom in with and have the image on my phone/I-pad to take the picture. Any of you Surlyites out there have any suggestions or recommendations?

That is the only way without buying either a camera or upgrading your phone to a newer model with better cameras (iPhone Pro models have a 5x optical zoom now). July 14Jul 14 I would say get one of those "bridge cameras." All in one type with huge short to tele range over a small sensor. Very popular with birders that aren't great photographers, but they can get some really nice pics. Or if you want to shoot mostly wide to normal landscape and street type stuff get a compact digital. They seem to be making a bit of a comeback.
July 17Jul 17 Not the greatest resolution photo, but I still love it. I took my daughters on a "tour" of the bioluminescent waters in Cocoa Beach, FL last week. In this picture, my youngest has a gaff in the water to activate the bioluminescence while we're moving.

July 18Jul 18 After all the looking, thinking, planning, and waiting our plan is beginning to shape up. My key chain serves as my daily reminder of what I've been working for.
