What are the overreactions to an anemic offense vs one of the worst defenses in college football? Seems pretty reasonable to be concerned.

I'm getting a lot of 2022 Texas @ OSU vibes from Quinn right now minus the turnovers and assplay from Xavier Worthy. He was playing hurt then and it really feels like he's playing hurt right now.

Only viable if has a lower body injury. His footwork is trash and he has zero awareness of the pocket and REFUSES to move it, to his own detriment. I think he’s scared of making mistakes and has the yips.

He feels pressure when there isn't pressure. He's scared of getting hit.

He's got to be hurt still and they have told him to not get hit. That's all that makes sense.

Has he regressed?

He's been the same QB his entire time here. Good in the short/intermediate passing game but terrible down the field. Also, any type of pressure and he's likely to self-sack himself.

That's been Quinn his entire career.

Why not get Arch playing time on the road?  I don’t get why Sark doesn’t.

It's always fun to read the overreactions in the game day thread.

I’d usually agree but I’m no longer confident that we’re a championship caliber team with Ewers.

Squints not so much but at least he would try harder.

And of course Arch before either at this point.

And, as a defender, if you know the QB isn't going to move, you can rush all out.  You don't have to worry about squaring up for the possible move.  You go 100% straight at the QB, so Quinn is actually making it worse for himself.  Fuck.  If you're going to get hit, at least be moving forward.  If he's afraid of contact, I'd much rather get tackled moving than standing like a statue.  That's got to be harder on the body.

He’s playing like shit against a team that was actively doing tryouts for DBs. This is not what you ever want to see from a supposed first round QB who has been a starter for three years.

Yep.  You can't defend him at this point.

Ole Piss dropped over 60 on this squad.  3 win Oklahoma State dropped 39 on them early in the season.  This Razorback team is ass.  Their defense is mega ass.  And yet they're bamboozling Quinn so much he's sacking himself.

I don’t think he’s hurt. I think he’s playing scared. His best games, he’s stands in the pocket confidently and surveys the field. Lately, he’s obviously playing scared of the pass rush while also being completely unaware of it.

We would be scoring 50 points a game with Ehlinger running Sark's O.

That's the thing that bothers me the most. Quinn doesn't seem like he cares.

He’s scared. He isn’t hurt and he hasn’t been told not to get hit. He plays scared of contact for basically every game of his career since the Bama injury as a freshman. This year he’s gotten even worse

Saban (w/ Sark as OC) benched Jalen Hurts in the National Championship game.  One wonders is student will become teacher as this season progresses to better competition?

They were down 13-0 and Hurts had thrown for 21 yds. You guys are out of your minds if you expect Sark to bench Quinn at this point in the season. Aint gonna happen barring injury.

Edit - or a massive deficit

My biggest concern going forward is that Ewers wants to come back next year.

I can’t recall good Texas teams that were unable to capitalize on great defensive performances and bury teams like these Sark teams.  And I really really like Sark.  Just a very concerning trend.

1983, number one defense in the country.  Shitty QB/offensive play all year, mostly because Fred was somehow convinced he did not need a full-time OC.  One game en route to 11-0 we beat TCU 21-14 I think, and our D outscored our O.  2 defensive TDs.

Got lucky with McIvor having the game of his life to beat A and M 45-13.  Georgia was ready for McIvor in CB, but most likely did not prepare for R. Morschell, great running QB.  Texas receivers acted like they were allergic to the ball, as in they dropped a bunch of passes, etc.  If Fred had come in with Morschell in 2nd half to run the ball with option, I am convinced we easily win the game something like 13 to 3 or 13 to 10.

Instead we messed around on O and ended up 9-3 before the worst play in Longhorn history, the punt against our D.  Our D was so good Georgia decided to play field position and hope.  Their hope worked out. Craig Curry tried to catch the punt because Jitter Fields yelled "you, you" at him, so he tried.  Fumble, Georgia scores 3 or 4 plays later, they win 10-9.   We didn't know it cost us the National Championship until after Miami upset  Nebraska in Orange Bowl, one of the 5 best games I ever watched on TV.  31-30 and Osborn gained a ton of respect from just about everyone, because he could have kicked the extra point to tie the game and claim National Championship, but Osborn went for 2 to win the game.

Dance with who brung ya! Offense needs to line up and start running the ball every play with some creativity! Wear the swine out!  After 3 or 4 possessions the pass will open up(unless the clock runs out). If the Oline does not execute then go to the well for reinforcements. Shit anything to get Sarks play calling back on track and keep Ewers from playing scared...Geez what a clusterfuck!!

There's always the super bowl factor but we've certainly done lots of this to ourselves today.

Legit wouldn't mind to see Arch start the 2nd half at least one series.

It's one half of football on the road against a team that regards this game as its Super Bowl.  It's not shocking that Texas isn't winning by 20+ points at halftime.

Can someone please send Quinn some nudes at half to see if it will make him not be the worst qb in the history of college football please?

That is just his demeaner. He always appears like he doesn't care. I don't think that's true though.

Not that it matters. Just play well, I don't care if you care.

I think any kind of visible effort by QE would buy him some goodwill. But he seems so “whatever” that I think it comes across as apathetic and unappealing

Some of the play calling has been horrible. Line play is mediocre as well. Can’t get into a rhythm and thankful this month of Thanksgiving our defense is solid and gives us a chance in every game we play.

Isaiah Bond must feel duped…he’s basically Xavier Worthy-speed, but with better hands and route-running and the only balls he sees are WR screens and 9-yard curl routes.

Worthy was 10 times better at blocking and he weighed 150 pounds.

That's the last thing you should worry about. This is it for QE at Texas. If he plays college football next year, it will be for another school.

Yeah, that's a different topic.  He definitely needs to play better than he did in the first half in order for this team to have a legit shot at a NC.

Ultimately this all falls on Sark

The stadium isn’t loud at all. They know they suck and even with this terrible performance we likely will cover easily. They can’t score on our defense.

I hope he enjoys riding the pine because Manning would win that job outright.

Arch’s issue is mental speed due to lack of experience — he has all the physical tools. You can’t convince me that we don’t beat Florida, Arkansas, and Kentucky with him at QB when our defense is this good. And if you think those are wins with him and he’s gaining valuable experience heading into the most challenging part of our schedule so that he’s making better & faster decisions with the football by then, then the experiment is absolutely worth it. We have seen far too much of Quinn shrinking under pressure at this point to expect anything different in College Station, an SEC title game, or a CFP game.

D is doing it's job! Keep it going D . I'd like to check back after a few at the brewery and see a pick 6 or scoop and score

Serious question:

Is Barron putting himself on our Mt Rushmore of DB's?

He's closing well for the Thorpe.

Arky is playing 3 deep and we have no real running game. Quinn self sacks and the watered-down/long grass field is checking our speed on crossers and getting separation deep.

Just line up and drive them off the ball for a while in the running game and they can't sit back 3 deep..

But we have shit at RB between the tackles and a our OL struggles with everything outside zone

If we could forget Quinn’s expectations of being great and admit we have a serviceable game manager QB it would be much easier to handle.

For Christ's sake he's not hurt unless you mean brain damaged. He's mentally broken. This is NOT physical. Stop with this bullshit already.

So how are we all feeling? Time to fire a bunch of coaches and put the backup in? Righty-o.

I got faith Sark and Quinn wake up in the second half. Because I have to.

I’m still impressed by people that see Texas as a national title contender.  We are Iowa
