The bullpen was good today too. Tonight was just the 6th time this year the Braves pitching staff did not allow a walk.

Very impressive for a game started by Newcomb.

Folty was an ace, Chuckie Clutch came through again off the bench and a week after the Braves suffered as agonizing a loss as a team will ever suffer in the regular season the Braves have grown their lead from 3 games to 6.5 games and feels like they have the Phillies on the ropes. They have to keep the pressure on them. Go out and get the sweep. Turn around and take care of the Nats. Hang on with the Cards and finish this damn thing off.

I'm off the first day of the Mets series in New York. I'm definitely going if they have a chance to clinch the division. I will not be upset in the least if the division has been clinched for a few days by then.

Magic number 10.

Now I almost feel bad for Phillies fans. Their team has legit given up at this point, they're 11-24 in their last 35 games. Then I remembered they won the Super Bowl last year and I laugh.

By my math, if the Braves go .500 (8-8) the rest of the way, the Phillies would have to go 16-1.

If the Braves go  5-11, the Phils would have to go 13-4.  Even at 0-16, the Phils would need to win 8 of the last 17.

I think it is pretty much in the bag.

The Phillies had a nice season to stay in it so long, including good mid-summer results against some really good teams. But the offense was never there, and the young pitchers (starters and bullpen) eventually wore down and were exposed.

We have some bright spots, decent farm system and a lot of money to spend. The problem is we really only have one position player (Hoskins) who you can actually see in a playoff caliber lineup every day. Even signing a big free agent bat isn't going to be nearly enough to fix the offense. The Braves are way more balanced.

Playoff rotation?

game 1 - Folty

game 2 - Sanchez

game 3 - Julio or Newcomb??

Oh yeah, forgot about him. He’ll be the number 2. With the others fighting for the 3rd and 4th spot

regardless of how tonight's philly game ends, the braves can win the division this weekend by taking 3 of 4.

Braves fall down 4-1 in the 7th inning and battle back for 5 runs in the bottom half and hang on for a 6-5 win. One more win this weekend and it's over. Simply incredible.

need to root against the dodgers.  would much rather face the rockies.

Fuck both of them. We can beat them, the Cubs, the Brewers or the Cardinals. Fuck em all. We're in boys. Lets go to the ship.

Fuck yes motherfuckers. Snit can't seem to manage a bullpen but god damb do the players love him like Bobby Cox.

Amazing job by the players, coaches, and front office. Two years ahead of schedule imo and we didn't sell the farm

holy shit they won the division in a year where no one expected them to win more than 75 games.

and they have A LOT to look forward to.

fun ass team.  let's see what happens in the playoffs.

Kids having SO much fun. They've even got the wife paying attention again.

so unless the braves win tomorrow AND both the dodgers and rockies lose, the braves will be starting the playoffs on the road.

Got a sinking feeling the Braves are going to get swept in the playoffs.

i mean, maybe they will as they're probably the worst of the 5 NL playoff teams.  doesn't change anything about this season if they are though.

Well, we are going to have lots of money to spend in the off-season, have tons of young/trade-able arms and two first rounders in the draft.

We over-achieved this year, but should be able to put together an actual team that can compete with the big money teams next year (although still being half their payroll).

Adding a #1 SP (and maybe a vet #3-4) along with an all-star caliber bat (3B or OF) should be the priorities this off-season.

It was damn good fun run. And they didn't get swept! Nor stomped on like the Yankees last night.

development wise...amazing season really. not too far off the Astros rebuild trend line..

A couple of Astros pitchers tweeted incredibly nice things about McCann and I know David Ross has said multiple times McCann made him a better player by the example he set. That's a great clubhouse signing.

$23 million for Donaldson is a lot, but it's a one year deal so that doesn't matter much. If he's healthy he's a better player than Camargo and Camargo is significantly better than anyone they had on the bench last year and he can give Donaldson days off when he needs them so that's a move that makes them better.

Not sure how much money we have left, but I’d still like to add a good veteran SP.

Although I don’t love him, someone like Kuechel would be great to plug in and let the young guys learn from.

Suzuki stays?
