November 20, 20241 yr Author Please keep it on topic, my dudes. Discussions about historical prices of Taco Bell value menus and hardships you endured while growing up are encouraged. If you find some "leopards eating faces" stuff, you can post that too.

Allsup's burritos were not a thing when I was a kid and we headed west. Those trips included long stretches of really open road. Few gas stations, even. Most meals were sandwiches mom made from a cooler, eaten at a roadside rest stop. IF we were lucky, it was one of the ones with a roof, for shade. Tell an American kid today that no, we won't stop for a Happy Meal, you're gonna eat a baloney sandwich and some store brand potato chips off a paper towel at a 104 degree picnic table....and see how that goes.

Tacos are served hot. Sandwiches are cold.As Mexicans, we fancied things up the other way - road trips were low brow affairs. But when we drove down to spend Saturday at East Beach with all the other Mexicans? We brought marinated meat, tortillas, a small Weber, charcoal, and grilled and had delicious carne asada tacos right off the fire. We was livin’ LARGE.

November 20, 20241 yr Nothing beats the road trip bean burrito and egg and weenie for a road trip my grandma made. God damn it hit and by road trip I mean to visit family at they watermelon farm or lumber yard in munday or the rich family that lived in Abilene and Wichita Falls. As for soda not sure but I know my uncle was a big rc cola fan so we had that every now and then, traded watermelon to one of the cost plus managers to get it for free on the weekends.
