Dream scenario is Georgia losing to Texas in the SEC championship game and Georgia missing the playoffs.

It probably won't happen even if they lose but Kirby Smart would lose his mind. It would be entertaining.

if they lose to GT it could happen.

Oh, they're definitely missing the playoffs if they lose to GT and Texas. They aren't getting in with 4 losses.

A loss to GT and win against Texas, they're getting in. No shot they keep out the SEC champion even with 3 losses to meh teams. Actually they get the auto bid right for winning the conference?

Because somebody has to make the playoffs.

This is why it's laughable if you think Texas is missing the playoffs. They're in.

yes

Looking at the schedules next week, there are going to be a couple more upsets of projected playoff teams.

A 3 loss SEC team is going to get in, IMO.

Yea that’s for the playoffs but seems dumb with their recent loss but SEC, it just means more?  Has a conference ever been exposed more than this year?   I mean sure the greats and champs before with Bama, Georgia and occasionally LSU but the rest?  No the last few years the rest have a losing record or even to  every other power 5 conferences also.

any SEC or Big Ten with 2 losses is in UNLESS Indiana loses to Purdue(which is very unlikely to happen).

There are a couple of real scenarios that have the SEC title game loser missing the playoffs, which is nuts.  I don't think UGA gets left out after the chaos of today, but it was possible before Bama and Ole miss lost. If aggy beats us and then loses to UGA, I think they get left out. And we get in. That would be a new level of aggy tears.

under no circumstances should anyone want that to happen.

I think it's still possible if Georgia loses.

For example, how can you justify a 3 loss Georgia getting in over a 3 loss Alabama and a 3 loss Ole Miss? Alabama and Ole Miss beat them H2H.

How would you leave them out if their 3rd loss is to Texas in the SEC champ game? The assumption the committee would be working with is that any other team wouldve also lost to us. No way they penalize them for that.

yeah but that third loss will be in the conference championship that ole miss and bama couldn’t get into.  if georgia beats GT they’re in.

yeah, I think Georgia will still make it in with a loss in the SEC championship.

Still interesting scenarios as they will likely be battling 2 other SEC teams that kicked their ass.

The nightmare scenario is Sark starts a hurt Ewers next week, who fumbles and throws multiple INTs. He's then forced to put in Arch, who plays like shit and aggy wins.  So Texas has a hurt QB1 and unreliable QB2....and then the playoff committee treats us like Florida State last year.

Why stop there?  Go ahead and say we go 1-11 next year and fire multiple coaches and lose multiple recruits

I know it’s unofficial but that chart link that keeps getting reposted has us at 100% even if we lose next week.

That's not why FSU was left out of the playoffs last year. It's because the ACC sucks.

Your comparison is why Texas is going to make the playoffs. The ACC/Big 12 are complete dog shit and are treated as such.

Because I’m sure the committee would look at Arch Manning the same way they looked at Brock Glenn.

The committee (and networks) would fall over themselves rushing to put Texas in the playoffs with a Manning at qb.

For the same reason there's a lot of times that I would struggle to think of 10 teams that deserves to be in the top 10

I said it's a "nightmare scenario" not a "likely scenario". This is a football discussion board, we discuss random shit like this.

And I'm glad all of you have absolute faith in the playoff committee not doing something unpredictable, because that's never happened.

Yep, and just like last time, the road to the conference championship will be capped off with  thousands of Longhorns chanting "Poooor Aggies", or "Poooor aggy" to use the parlance of our times.

What are you fucking smoking to make you post this kind of shit? Texas is all but a lock to make the CFP, and you’re pedantically shit posting and dropping nightmare scenarios. Go to bed.

if we lose to aggy i don't know that we're in. GA is in. TN is most likely in. oregon, ohio state, and pedo state are in. if SMU beats miami there's a chance both are in. boise is in. the big xii winner is in. ND is in. that's 10. aggy beats GA then they're in. that's 11. does the committee pick a 1 loss indiana over a 2 loss texas? or even if you're not sure that TN is in, that's still TN, indiana, and us for 2 spots. or those 3 and miami for 3 spots. the networks will want us, TN and miami but the committee says they don't think about that. that's a lie, but it's been stated. most likely indiana gets left out but that's not a given.

and keep in mind this ranking thing tends to just be a reverse sort by losses with a secondary sort by oldest loss.

and aggy is a 76% chance if they win out, yet they would be the SEC champion and get an auto-bid. That website sucks.

1) There is zero chance a 2 loss Miami team gets in over a 2 loss Texas team. They've played a terrible schedule. They might not play a single ranked team until their conference championship game.

2) A 2 loss Tennessee isn't getting in over a 2 loss Texas. Their Alabama win looks meh now, they have a terrible loss to Arkansas, and SOS will likely be similar.

3) A 1 loss Indiana likely isn't getting in over a 2 loss Texas either. Simply based on who they've played.

Your scenario is "worst case" and I still think we're like a 8 to 10 seed in that scenario.

The SEC is complete pyramid scheme bullshit. When the top teams win, it's because the conference is so good. When the top teams lose, it's because the conference is so deep.

We should go win the whole thing, and when given the mic tell the world that this conference is fraudulent and this shit is easy and double rods everyone because Texas is all that matters.

Cool, believe whatever you want. And I already spelled out the scenario. Aggy wins big, Ewers is out for the year and Arch looked terrible. Maybe toss in a couple of other injuries and I can absolutely see us dropping more than 8 spots. I'm not gonna guess how every committee member will vote, but sure as fuck there some that don't love Texas.

How much money do you want to bet? 1k good?

2-loss Tennessee is not getting in over Texas if it came down to those 2 teams. Their schedule is dogshit. We have 7 teams in the SEC in common and we went 6-1 against them while they are currently 4-2. Texas has a +100 margin, while they are currently +26 with a game against Vanderbilt left.

Their OOC is currently a FCS team, 0-11 Kent State, 5-6 North Carolina State, and 2-9 UTEP.

You have yet to discuss a possible scenario. You can't list 12 teams that will get in over Texas.

@elfenixlisted a worst-case scenario above (where everything goes wrong the next 2 weeks) and we will still be in the 8 to 10 seed range. A 2 loss Miami, a 2 loss Tennessee, and probably a 1 loss Indiana are not getting in over Texas. Maybe 1 of those teams get in over us but we're still a 10 seed in that scenario.

Again, that's a worst-case scenario where everything goes wrong in the next 2 weeks.

these should just be treated as losses. and if you actually lose, 2 losses. the only teams that should get a pass are iowa and iowa state because the legislature makes them play NIU.

Texas is a lock for the playoffs and Aggys aggied. What a beautiful day of football. Now, it is our turn to take care of business.
