Sabina beats traitor Nicole Khirin to give Texas a 3-0 lead

I’ll give Joffee a pass this season after getting burned by Maya Joint last minute, but this is the third year in a row we haven’t been a contender for a championship.

5 freshmen in doubles and in singles, that's worth a pass.

Plus two incoming blue chip recruits. The program has a good future

Crossing fingers in having Iva Jovic commit!

A Saby-less team leads to a mediocre team. Hoping she's back in the lineup at full strength.

Interesting tactic.

After falling in the four first sets of the active matches, the Longhorns rebound and win all four second sets including Sabina Zeynaolva at No. 1, Ashton Bowers at No. 2, Eszter Meri at No. 3 and Carmen Herea at No. 4!

Lost doubles, 5 & 6 still to be played.

Sunday's match @Mizzou will be a special reunion between coach Joffee and Head coach Bianca Turati at Mizzou. Turati played under Joffee from 2017-2020 and he credits her and her twin sister Anna as being the two players that helped the Texas program get back to national relevancy. Mizzou has been in the SEC cellar for over a decade, so Bianca has a daunting rebuild task on her hands, but they already have a win over Mississippi State this season so she's seemingly helping the program take small steps in the right direction.

LSU def. Texas 4-2. LSU's head coach Taylor Fogelman was Joffee's assistant a few years ago, and he got the better of Joffee today.

Ole Miss def. Texas 4-2. We’re making the 64 team tournament but not going to host the first round. We’re not a good team

Mediocre team without Saby

The Ukrainian senior has been scarcely available for 2 seasons now.

Not once in her 4 yrs here did she play in the Fall. Injury proned, unfortunately.

Texas def. winless MSST 4-0. Up next we face undefeated Georgia. We'll lose that one regardless if Zeynalova decides to play.

Come again!? 😆

Charlotte and Ashton were playing really loose

That was an unexpected surprise win to say the least! You don't see a 9 loss team upset #1 very often in tennis. Perhaps this will be a turning point win for the team. Our final regular season match is against SCAR on Sunday, and we have identical 8-6 conference records. Lets avoid a letdown.

Texas finishes the regular season with a 4-1 win over SCAR. SEC tournament begins Wednesday, and I believe we'll get the 8 seed.

Ran it back against SCar

Unfortunately Sabina seemed injured in the third set- basically walking into some of her shots and going for broke. I'd play it safe tomorrow, need her for NCAAs.

Zeynalova did play tonight, but aggy still swept Texas 4-0.

I think we'll likely creep in as a top 16 seed, and I would put a 90% chance on Baylor playing in our regional as they will likely just miss out on being a top 16 seed.

And they lost to Georgia in the finals

Easy prediction was easy. Looking ahead to the sweet 16, Michigan crushed us earlier this year at a neutral site. We’ll head to Ann Arbor for a rematch if we get past Baylor

How did a 20-5 P4 program not get a seed?

Wasn't even close. No Top 25 wins. Finishing fourth in a conference where Tech just won but is only 12th nationally. And best non conference win is Illinois who finished 7th in their conference.

4-0 over Grand Canyon. We play Boise State tomorrow who upset Baylor today 🤯

Well then. I see why they didn’t get a seed lol

4-0 win over Boise St today. Baylor team must have partied on 6th street thursday night and played hungover.

Texas travels to Ann-Arbor to face #3 Michigan next week in the round of 16.

Vivian Ovrootsky is in the portal. She's probably graduating this Spring and will continue to participate with the team til the season is over with. I just didn't realize she had any eligibility remaining.

Ovrootsky had a redshirt year so she’s only a junior. We won’t have any scholarship upperclassmen next year unless we add someone through the portal. Iva Jovic continues to do well in the pros and received a wild card into this years French Open, so I don’t see her playing college tennis

Agreed about Jovic. She seems to be doing well enough on tour.
