Bucky used to talk about that game was one of Ricky's best as a running back. It wasn't about what he did with the ball that game. He blocked his ass off and was a huge plus factor in pass protection. I guess the point is you couldn't go wrong with either one of them.
December 3, 20241 yr 26 minutes ago, texastough said: The first game, Georgia's defensive game plan was to deny QE the throws he really likes, i.e. screens and short passes to the wr, te, and rb. We came out trying to run those plays and they jumped all over it. It was like Sark was trying to run the base plays first to set up his counters, but Georgia had watched so much film he should have started with the counters. They denied us enough to rattle us in general and turn over the ball too many times. Their D is not great statistically. I don't think we will be out schemed/out prepared again. It won't be too hard to connect downfield, have some success running the ball, play action, and open up Georgia's D. Horns make a statement. Hook Em! someone mentioned it in the aftermath, but Kirby had the game circled and wanted revenge for that Sugar Bowl loss. it's clear he scouted the heck out of us.

Limit that, make them drive the length of the field and they're going to struggle to score on us. Their skill guys suck. Yes, last game was a showdown of inept QB play. Getting Pressure on Beck is going to be paramount. He is great in a clean pocket (91 PFF). He is terrible with pressure (36 PFF grade, 10 turnover worthy plays in 65 attempts). He has looked much better lately. Last 3 games he has been very good. Their WRs like to drop the ball (Arian Smith, I am looking at you) Edited December 3, 20241 yr by Codaxx

Gerry says the UGA LB’s are athletic enough to shut down all the perimeter stuff that Sark likes to run early and their interior DL can wreck our outside zone. Plays are there to be had down the field with our WR’s vs their DB’s but those take time to develop and Quinn needs to see them and not be focused on the pass rush. Seems like pass protection for Quinn is the most important matchup in this game and we have to improve bigly over the performance in Austin. The same Gerry Hamilton that thought we'd lose to aggy all season?
December 3, 20241 yr I can already see it now. Georgia loses, it won't be "didn't want to be there", it will be "won the SEC before, no big deal, holding back for playoffs". We make them drive the field all game we win.
December 3, 20241 yr Popular Post I predict Kirby Smart screams, whines, and walks all over the field, interrupting the play of the game without getting a flag.
December 3, 20241 yr Then we should have a designated player that runs his ass over and knocks the shit out of him. They can’t call targeting for a hit on a coach illegally on the field can they?

I do think Wisner is running the OZ much better. He is cutting that play back way more frequently than he was at the time of the Georgia game. Hitting inside the guard as opposed to outside the TE. Georgia speed makes it really hard to win on the perimeter (outside runs and screens) OL was credited with giving up 2 sacks vs Georgia. Lot of the issues were 2 fold. Quinn's inability to navigate a pocket (well documented) and Georgia getting good match-ups vs the TEs and RBs. People see 7 sacks and immediately say OL. That is not usually the case. Sack rates are one of the most consistent things when QBs change teams in the NFL. Flood needs to mix up his protections more. You can not allow Kirby to scheme up match-ups where NFL first round guys are being blocked by Helm and Wisner in pass pro. Edited December 3, 20241 yr by Codaxx
December 3, 20241 yr In the aggy game Ewers finally showed a willingness to bail out and run even with his gimpy ankle. I think scouting this is going to change up o how GA is forced to scheme. If he shows the same willingness against the in the CCG I think it’s going to alleviate some of the problems we had against their DL in the previous game

There were many plays where they shifted a split second before the ball was snapped to Ewers

December 3, 20241 yr Texas should be prepared for the stunts and movements by the d-line and snap the ball when they line up or jump. They will absolutely be trying to simulate the snap count, etc.

December 3, 20241 yr Georgia's DL does that horizontal shift all the time. It seems like they get the offense to commit 1/2 false starts a game with that maneuver.

There's probably too much money in neutral sites to do it but it would be cool.

It was so perfect Friday night - Pac 12 Saturday morning - Big 12 Saturday afternoon - SEC Saturday night - B1G/ACC Someone needs to take one for the team and move theirs into the old Pac 12 slot - I vote for the Big 12 and the move the ACC to Saturday morning.
