That's a hell of a lot of money for 3 more points from last season.

At this rate of improvement, we won't have another competitive game until 2033.

The OU boards are handwringing about their takes in the trenches for this class, and I don't blame them.

At OL: they took 2 OGs and nothing else. One of the Guards is a 4 star and the other is a 3 star.

At DL: they took 4 Edge players. One of those is their highest rated recruit, Jake Kreul, who they paid wildly for since Nagy thinks he's a future 1st round pick. The other 3 are mid 3 stars. At DT, they took 2 3 stars and that's it.

It's kind of wild on the OL front. One of their big issues has been depth and relying on the portal. Bedenbaugh was chastised for that and then signed a big class last year. They're going to have to address the OL through the portal again in the near future with this kind of unevenness.

They clearly think they're just smarter than everyone else with their DL analysis.

Reading between the lines of some comments from the staff, they were pretty hamstrung by the terrible performance across the board last year.  They refer to it as "negative recruiting", but it's just honesty from other programs since confidence was at a generational low.  It really cratered a lot of the 26 class, and rightfully so.  The hope is to address any immediate needs in the portal and hit 27 as hard as possible with the playoff momentum in tow.

Make all the jokes you need to, but go watch this kid’s film. He plays with the violence that is going to make a great linebacker.

Kind of like the prediction threads on this website.  Lot of whiffs…

We’ll see.  This year is looking like fools gold to me.

I have no delusions of grandeur.  Just happy we aren't Nebraska yet.  Also I'll take a great D and shitty Offense over the alternative we had with babyshit soft LR all those years.

Don’t they have that “Love” gas station millionaire pumping money into their programs, like softball?

Oh, that's right. I totally forgot about that. Now I remember why I don't ever stop there. Yeah, I believe that's pretty much all they care about. Maybe baseball? I know softball for sure, as you mentioned.

Who was that LB from Florida whose last name was Cherry? His HS film made him look like Mike Singletary, and then he quit on the third day of practice.

Well, it’s better than me having to recognize that “sooner magic” bullshit is actually real.

Huge piece of that offense that scored . . . [checks notes] . . . zero touchdowns against Texas over the last two seasons.

Yes, but if he came here he can help us score against them, and that will make up for his lack of production against daddy. If he doesn't come here it means he either sucks (he went to ou, so we already know that), we don't want him, or...that pretty much nails both options.

I seem to recall the consensus was that Flood passed on him and then he threw the Horns down. Yeah, fuck that kid.

He either has a gun shot wound to his left upper bicep or he has had surgery for some issue. Looks like a bat cave.

I chose to believe, bullet wound. Sounds cooler.

Nah. Fuck him. He pulled a muscle rubbing his clit too hard, too many times.

Didn't Howland start several games this year?

During the injury shuffles, yes. By the end, they moved Fodje in to Guard and put a recovering Simmons out at RT instead of having Howland play. That's probably the writing on the wall that he wasn't going to see meaningful time. It does suck because they're going to have to replace him with someone who also doesn't stand too much of a chance of starting for the next two years on top of a tiny recruiting class.

Strong is one that confuses me. He seemed set to be a big part of the rotation next year, and those guys have been getting a TON of snaps and attention. There's some noise that he's just publicly checking his value to try to negotiate for an increase. It's what Stone did, and that worked out alright, at least so far.

Anyone else hearing rumors of Jason Whitten going to OU as TE coach? Wouldn’t love that, mostly because of his kid.

Brian Lepak from KSU. He has done some great work with the room in Manhattan. If it's either him or Witten, that's a significant upgrade over what's been happening.
