Staples, who's from Roanoke in North Texas, was biking along with her husband when the two became separated on the West Contrabando Trailhead around 9:30 a.m. on November 26. Officials said Staples attempted to catch up to her husband on a trail but was unable to and then took the wrong trail when at a crossroads. Her husband returned to the area around 1 p.m. and reported that both she and her bike were gone.

For those of you who haven't been it is much more remote than the National Park, or at least it was last time I was out there. Beautiful desolation

Separated at 9:30, didn't return to the area till 1pm.

He was pedaling his heart out, singing Boys of Summer.  'Don't look back, You can never look back'

Want to check it out, but the rangers said a bear would eat my dog straight up. Not probably or maybe, but that it would  happen.

I thought Luna was hardcore?

Looks like the bluff that Josh Brolin/Llewellyn Moss looked down on the drug deal gone bad in No Country for Old Men.

I think that scene was filmed either in Terrel County or in the Glass Mountains in Brewster County.

They just didn't want to have to rescue your ass/ find your carcass a few hours later when Luna returned with one of your bloody shoes in her mouth.

Yea. They sniffed out my mountain man fantasy over a phone call

Somehow this is his fault.

I mountain-biked plenty of times with my wife in the before-kids days, and if we had gotten separated, well I wouldn’t have allowed myself to get way ahead of her in that part of Texas (and she could keep up anyways).  I dunno, it would just be weird in general to get really separated from my wife while out hiking or biking in a park, since a big part of it is being together.

If somebody wanted to kill their wife and get rid of the remains/make it look natural or like an animal attack, that part of Texas is really fucking stupid to do it in, because it’s not exactly crawling with predators that can do that depending on the time of the year, plus Arkansas eagles vultures can be seen for many miles there and would be a huge tip-off.
