CEO of UHG Shot and Killed in NYC - WTF is wrong with you New York

Featured Replies

Son and I rented Citi Bikes in NYC.  Required app, linked to phone, linked to payment, etc.  First time use is a PITA.

Guy either (1) pushed a person off a bike or (2) bought a burner smartphone, installed apps w/ fake credentials, and procured a 1-day pass for cash.

As the guy above notes, the bikes are easily tracked.

Correct.  Three live rounds found and three spent cartridges.  Live rounds seems weird?  A "pro" seemingly would be better prepared, but man that dude was calm and collected in the video.

It's all reacting to fast moving information, but doesn't read like a pro to me. I did like that notion of a bolt action 9mm handgun, but maybe that was a reaction to the novelty. If it's a hitman, it seems like a very unprepared one. I wouldn't hunt with one of my suppressed rifles without having a reasonable number of rounds down range to confirm the setup.

Or just use a revolver?  Anyone who's had to clear a jam under duress knows your fine motor skills go to shit.  That's what I can't wrap my head around.  Dude was just too calm and collected to be a "normal" guy unless he has a background in this?  And if he has a background in this, why use a jinky ass pistol that doesn't cycle?

Whole thing is just odd.

my thoughts as a terrible shot and non-pro: handgun is very personal and up close. that leads me to believe it was a non-pro doing personal retribution for whatever reason, or a pro asked for it to be up close and personal because there are probably a dozen areas for a good shot with a long rifle.

Looked like he burned his fingees on the hot gun after shot 3 or 4.  I just don't think he looked all that calm and collected.  He fumbled with the gun some, was right in front of a witness and a camera, doesn't seem sure how many shots he wants to take, and his pathing to the victim seems haphazard.   But I'm just a dude on the internet who has no real world experience with this stuff.  Outside of some ducks, I haven't shot anything that wasn't paper.

One thing about this weapon is he does not have to stop and pick up brass. Has he cycles through he could be snagging it since his hand is there.

Hard to tell from the emojis

Since it's been noted the brass wasn't policed, rather dropped at the scene: I'd bet that gun is black market or stolen, so shooter clearly doesn't care about policing the brass, and would guess he purchased the rounds out of state and loaded them into the mag with gloves to avoid any fingerprints on them.  That said, again, too much of this seems to be thought out.  Hoodie blocking the camera view, I'd bet a mask on, suppressor to avoid triggering the gunshot sensors within Manhattan, no innocent bystanders hit...  The gun might turn up, but the hitman is a ghost or has already swallowed the barrel himself.

You’re only a pro if you can avoid an abdominal charley horse.

Lost in the pro-versus amateur discourse is the fact that the first and usually only qualification to be a “pro” hitman is “willingness to kill people for money.”

Some of us are recreational hit men.  Some tasks are just more gratifying when they are for pleasure instead of profit.

I like to imagine the shooter saying something like “looks like you went out of network” as he strolls away.

The video initially made me think 'pro', but I was assuming he he put a number of rounds exactly where he wanted them. The police press conference posted above said the victim was shot once in the back and once in the calf. That part does not seem like a pro.

Leaving 3 spent rounds and 3 live rounds also seems very sloppy. The problem is you can never be sure what clever new way the police might trace it back to you. With very little effort, you can leave no brass.

Looks like Brian Griese

Dude on CNN is saying he bought a bottle of water and they could track this to his DNA. Going to suck being whoever pissed off a sergeant this week. Patrolman, you need to report to the dump and find all the plastic bottles.

So did the guy in the video posted who was testing the gun.

In very much related news, Anthem announced today that they will stop paying for anesthesia if a procedure goes over planned time.

Fixed for clarification. BCBS is a social welfare company. Elevance, formerly Anthem, is a company that started buying up individual Blues in the late 90’s and later went public. They are now the largest owner of Blues and is squarely in the for profit space which, when first started, was not something envisioned by BCBSA.

Yes, but can hospitals pass that cost on to the patient? That is where I, as a provider, have problems. And what is going to happen when a patient has complications on the table?

This was only a pro in the sense that he succeeded. If this was a legit hit, there would be nothing to trace back. He would have been suicided or killed in a way with zero video evidence.

This was someone that knows how to use their weapon and wanted this dude dead. Maybe motivated by money or hate but this wasn't someone who paints houses for a living. Way too sloppy.

Sorry, those complications weren't preauthorized.  You'll have to look to the patient for payment.

I had a bs procedure years ago at an in network hospital with in network DR only to find out I owed a few grand to an uncovered anaesthesiologist group. For 30 min of work. Fun times.
