I really think they should have skipped her having the hair that the animated Snow White did. I get why they did it, but these live-action remakes don't need to be that close - same with the CGI dwarves resembling the animated dwarves - way too much uncanny valley. My daughter will see it and probably like it, and that's all that counts I suppose. Edited December 4, 20241 yr by atomheartbevo
December 4, 20241 yr Is their plan to do live action remakes of all the old classic cartoons? Are they completely out of ideas?
December 4, 20241 yr Just now, irishtexan said: Is their plan to do live action remakes of all the old classic cartoons? Are they completely out of ideas? Yes. They've already done Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Aladdin, Lady & the Tramp, Mulan, Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, and now Snow White. Lilo & Stitch & Moana will be arriving soon. Hercules is next up after those 2. In fairness, 101 Dalmatians and a few Jungle Book live action movies came out in the 90s. They also did the Lion King but it was just CGI so I don't know if you really can call that live action. And Universal is getting in on it since they're doing a live action How to Train Your Dragon.

Bambi is going to be fucking brutal to watch in the theater with a bunch of little kids. If they do it, by the time they get around to it, my kids will be old enough not to care (well my daughter might still be up for Disney movies).

Seeing Bambi’s mother take a slug to the chest, run 20 yards then collapse choking on her blood is gonna make a whole generation of kids into sociopaths.

December 6, 20241 yr I think it’ll do fine. People will be curious to see what Snow White looks like in live action. 85% of Little Mermaid’s box office take feels about right. But… will Zegler stay out of the news until March 21, 2025? She’s very incentivized to do so, but she’s 23 with 2.3 million followers on Instagram. Anything can happen.

I’ll be there for Gal Gadot (who will soon be in the Gals over 40 thread).

If they cast a white guy, he’d be endlessly compared to Alan Rickman (and would be seen as lacking even if he was the resurrected corpse of Laurence Fucking Olivier). Gets the incels and others who get angry over race fixated on that guy and not the fact that the movie cast will never be surpassed. I get why they are doing a series, but given who is running the DiscoveryTrueHBOMaxChipandJoanna network, I will be surprised if we go past the second season, and maybe not even the first season.
December 8, 20241 yr Fuck it, if Disney wants to do more live-action remakes, give us Treasure Planet, and the two Atlantis movies.

It's cool that little Billy from The Family Circus grew up to start as the director for Tangled (the animated movie, and unfortunately, he had to step back for health issues or something), worked on Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, etc. and even got an Academy Award with Kobe Bryant.
