I’ve got a cousin from Wisconsin who is mostly Polish and half his t-shirts and caps make sure you know he’s a Polack. If you search for Polak or Polack on Amazon, he’s probably responsible for half the sales of that stuff.

Imagine somebody wearing something this to a large 100+ family reunion in North Texas where half the attendees are Southern Baptists from Oklahoma and Arkansas.  And he’s built like and sounds just like Mike Ditka (I have a theory he doesn’t sound like Ditka normally and does that accent for the reunions).

Really this movie was doomed from the start because A) Snow White is a shitty story maybe the worst of the Disney IPs B) omg they cast a latina to play snow white even tho she looks fucking exactly like the character C) dwarves. B and C wouldn't matter if A didn't exist but compounded with the current political climate the advertising campaign had no shot at generating any buzz to boost opening day box office.

Whether you agree with her or not, telling 1/2 of your audience that you hope they never find peace isn't a way to drive attendance.

Those people don't watch Disney movies anyways

Yes, it's the progressives who have all the kids these days.

My daughter saw it this weekend and said there is a crossbow-wielding character played by a real dwarf. Along with the 7 CGI dwarves. So, both real and virtual dwarves have representation.

I'd love to hear the reasoning behind casting 1 dwarf and having the rest CGI.

Who's gonna make this version of Snow White? Because I'm in.

I think this gets lost in all of the other controversies. It’s an almost 90 year old movie and is not that great anyway.

The original made like 1 billion dollars adjusted for inflation and made Disney.  If they had just stuck to the script and stuck a hottie like Sydney Sweeney in the role they would have made another billion instead of losing 100s of millions.

I think the number of people who refused to watch this movie on account of politics can be counted on one hand, if you're missing a finger.

It's the kinda social media ragebait nonsense that foreign troll farms love to create and stoke, because that's their job - finding ways to make Americans hate other Americans, so that we're too busy arguing among ourselves to realize what losers the Russians and Chinese are.

The reason the movie failed is because no parent wants to blow the kind of money they need to go to a theater to watch some half-assed Snow White update when they can plop their spawn in front of the TV and see the original at home in 4k surround with their existing Disney Plus subscription. Not that the kids want to put up with that, either. The kids are stoked about the Wild Robot and Minecraft.

Politics? Nobody gives a shit that matters.

A entitled no-named actor who won a Golden Globe for a Spielberg movie and was the lead in a fairly successful Hunger Games prequel?

Don't have girls, and can't imagine any scenario where I would watch this.  But its been hard not to see this disaster coming.  Not the greatest marketing campaign.
1.  They pissed off dwarfs by making a movie with dwarfs living in a cave (Dinklage)
2.  They pissed off dwarfs by deciding to CGI the dwarfs rather than give acting jobs to dwarfs
3.  Ziegler pissed off people who liked the original story.
4.  Gadot pissed off people by taking a Pro-Israeli stance
5.  Zegler pissed off people by taking a Pro-Palestinian stance.
6.  Zegler pissed off MAGA by saying "may Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace."

And Mine Train is a B- roller coaster with too long of a line.  Just go do Thunder Mountain in half the time.

LOTR successful depicted mythical dwarves, but this seemed more like Speedy Gonzales territory. They needed to retire this story.

She's also half-Polish.  Casting a half-Polack, even if she resembles the 1930s Snow White, was a very interesting choice.

The live action remakes never made sense to me to begin with

Gal Gadot fucking sucks at acting. She’s hot tho.

That last Wonder Woman movie was unwatchable. Not sure how she keeps getting work. Plenty of hot actresses with a modicum of acting talent

Yeah but Lilo & Stitch is going to do a shitload of business. I think it's more people just might be tired of old animated movies being redone.

On that note, 341M globally this weekend for Lilo & Stitch. So gear up for more 90s era nostalgia live action remakes.

We saw it. It was solid, and they nailed the casting.  Lilo’s sister made it enjoyable for all of the dads in the audience.

Agreed.  I thought it was both good for the kiddos and the parents.  One of Disney's better live action remakes.

I kind of had a feeling it would be the one good one they've done in a long time. Great story that holds up, the cast look good, and you literally just CGI stitch being stitch...hard to mess up.

It really helped that it was a contemporary/modern movie that you did just have to stick a CGI Stitch in.

But they nailed the cast.

Haven't seen it but what press I did read about it was from a bunch of upset progressives about how it's normalizing indigenous people to give up their kids to the state or something weird like that.

Then they are fucking morons because the kid wasn't given up to some state institution, she literally moved next door to live with her "extended" family (some Hawaiian concept where family is not just blood relatives, but those around you who look after you) because she was an orphaned 6 year-old being raised by a 19 year-old that had to drop out of college to take care of her and was struggling at it.

The whole fucking movie was about this Hawaiian concept because Stitch, even though he was an alien, fell into this category of being adopted by this "extended" family and he even calls them his family.

I'm waiting for the other side to bitch that it's a woke movie because it's about Hawaiians (and the leads are females) in Hawaii.

What? Someone online was mad about something involving a movie they grew up loving that's been remade?

Well they also complained that the asian person cast wasn't asian enough. So people will gripe about anything.

Yeah, but the Greeks from North Carolina group was represented well enough.

I'm not watching it for the same reason I didn't watch any of the other live action remakes: It does nothing to improve on the original. No one asked for these remakes. Disney used to rerelease classic movies instead.

There's probably some "we must sustain our copyright/license infinitely long" reason behind the whole mess, kinda like the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies.

I think it's more Disney likes a billion dollars and live action remakes and infinite sequels are the only way to get that now. Audiences just rarely support original content now outside of a few examples and those are mostly in the horror genre now like Sinners. It's a bit chicken or the egg now. Is it Disney doesn't do good enough original content now or is it the audience just doesn't support it? I've kinda given up gnashing my teeth over it. I got Sinners at least and it will sustain me for a while. Conversely, took the teens to see Final Destination: Bloodlines and it was stupidly dumb fun.

If you have young kids, it's worth it for the older sister.

And Tia Carrere.

Thought Lilo and Stitch was entertaining. I think a big reason it killed at the box office was that there wasn’t any drama attached to it. Just straight up made a remake of a good original movie.
