December 11, 20241 yr Ohio State or Michigan are the two most watched Big 10 teams. If the Big 10 CCG had either in it, it would definitely draw eyes away from the SEC. In general this season ABC had the best average ratings for their SEC slate of games over Fox and Big Noon. Big Noon with Ohio State kills. The Ohio State Tennessee playoff game will also win the weekend. Edited December 11, 20241 yr by mdmost

Neither ABC nor Fox/CBS/NBC want to put the SEC and Big Ten championships on at the same time. I think the SEC championship has generally been at 3:30 because that is when CBS had the SEC game of the week throughout the season.

Yep, feels like the time slot is a relic of the CBS days and SEC moving to ABC just meant ABC was able to slot it in between the Big 12 and ACC so they have a full day of CCG programming.
December 11, 20241 yr Big 10 CCG was behind the SEC CCG Quote Saturday’s Oregon-Penn State Big Ten Championship Game averaged a 5.2 rating and 10.50 million viewers on CBS, up a tick in ratings and 5% in viewership from Michigan-Iowa on FOX last year (5.1, 10.02M) and easily the most-watched college football game on the network this season. The previous high was 6.32 million for USC-Michigan. The Big Ten title game delivered the second-largest audience of championship weekend — trailing only the Georgia-Texas SEC Championship on ABC and ESPN (16.6M) — and easily won a head-to-head with the ACC Championship on ABC (6.0M).
December 11, 20241 yr Nonsense. SMU stayed in with a loss. UGA certainly would have. How many losses would that have been for smu? 2? Would have been 3 for ga on top of the players out. They may have made it, but I could have seen them being swapped for Bama.

So if Texas can make a run it could be a real benefit if someone can trip them up. There is nothing special about Georgia. They beat us up good in the 1H of the first game but in BOTH games a trick play turned the tide. 1st game end of 3rd 23-15. We have some momentum. They run a flea flicker on 1st after a good 3rd down conversion. get inside our 20 and score a TD, on 4th and goal from the 1, to go up 15 points with about. it basically iced the game but we even put together a decent drives into their territory after that and fumbled and turned over on downs deep. 2nd game again 4th quarter. we've just tied the score and have stopped them on 3rd down. fake punt. They kick a FG. We eventually tie it up. They got a lot of lucky bounces and much ref help in the 1H. They beat us twice but except for the 1H of the first game we have fought them to basically a draw(kicked their ass in the 1H of 2nd game but points didn't show it). They stop our run game but we can throw on them. We don't need a perfect game but we do need some breaks to go our way and we have to get better in the red zone. Kudos they won both games and we shot ourselves in the foot a lot(some of it their pressure) but there is very little separating these teams.

They put their best game in prime time all season and usually send Game Day there. The SEC Championship Game would have crushed The Big Ten Championship Game in the ratings and allowed the ACC Championship Game to have gone against a lesser game and improved its ratings. If it "Just Means More" then prove it. I thought this was the big bad SEC that fears nothing.

December 12, 20241 yr Neilsen releases the top 10 college teams according to viewership. The results are telling with eight being SEC teams and two being Big 10 teams. Thought Texas would be higher than fourth, the surprise team is Kentucky at ninth. Nielsen drops the top 10 college football teams based on viewership

The ACC Championship Game was on ABC after the SEC Championship Game. As I said the SEC Championship would beat the Big 10 Championship Game easily. In the top 10 college teams for television viewership, I posted above, the only two non-SEC teams on that list were Michigan and Ohio State. Neither of these team were in the Big 10 Championship Game. On the other hand, the top team for viewership in Georgia and the fourth team in Texas were playing int the SEC Championship Game. Having the SEC Championship Game in prime time allows ABC to move the ACC Championship Game to the exclusive 3 pm time slot and get much better ratings, than facing off against the Big 10 Championship Game. That is a true win/win situation. I think it would be the Big 10 that would blink and move their game instead of facing a big ratings loss.

December 12, 20241 yr I’m sure everyone that spent years bad-mouthing rematches ala Bama v LSU and UGA v Bama will stand on principle and boycott a third matchup between Texas and UGA.

December 18, 20241 yr Watching the Memphis-WVU game. Memphis player intercepts with WVU in Memphis territory down 5 in the final 15 seconds, but the ball gets knocked out as he starts his slide. Replay rules that he was down so there was no fumble since he started his slide. Same situation, they called a fumble on Texas. Ewers had started his slide. Sark should have challenged that play.
