We didn’t win the sec in our first year. The zebras didn’t want us to. Burt Auburn didn’t want us to.  We had about 10 things go against us- any of which went down differently, and we’d have hoisted the trophy. We didn’t do that (or have the ball bounce our way, or the whistles in some situations) but we got rewarded for a a good season with the coveted 5 seed.
clemson at home, Arizona state in Atlanta and then Oregon, TN or Ohio State in Dallas for the shot to play for it all in the first time under this 12 team format.
Texas is as good as anyone in college football this year. Our floor is really high because the defense is pretty great. I think our ceiling is high enough to win it all against who we are looking at playing.
Lets freaking do this boys.

Two weeks to get Quinn, Bond, and Banks as healthy as possible.

If DKR brings the same energy it had for the UGA game, Clemson is going to have a very hard time.

We're gonna run it.

2007 Holiday Bowl (Never forget), and feel free to look past Clemson……..

image.thumb.jpeg.00af7ac22cc16b2db6b242baf395d179.jpeg

“In the second quarter, ASU's Rudy Carpenter led the Sun Devils to a first down at the Texas 14-yard line. They lost one yard on first down and an incomplete pass set up third and eleven.[25] Carpenter attempted another pass but threw the ball hurriedly in an effort to avoid a sack by Texas linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy. The ball hit the ground and the officials initially threw a flag for intentional grounding; it would later be ruled a backwards pass which becomes a fumble once it hits the ground. The ball continued to bounce towards the Texas sideline with players from both teams in pursuit. The most bizarre event of the game occurred as the ball came close to the sideline.[28][29]

220px-2007_Holiday_Bowl_second_quarter_interference.JPG The controversial play where Chris Jessee and other Texas personnel were on the field.

Chris Jessee, a member of the Longhorns football operations staff and Mack Brown's stepson, stepped onto the field and bent down as if to pick up the bouncing ball. Jessee thought that the ball was an incomplete forward pass and he was making the signal for intentional grounding as he stepped forward. The ball came close to Jessee's hands but it was not clear if he managed to touch it or if it bounced over his hands cleanly.[23][28] Texas' Roy Miller slapped the ball, keeping it in-bounds. Aaron Lewis picked up the ball and advanced it 13 yards to the Arizona State 44-yard line.[29]

Replay officials took 12 minutes to review the play.[29] On the video replays, the ball comes very close to Jessee's hands but it does not seem to change speed or trajectory as it goes past them. Despite the video replays providing no conclusive proof that Jessee had actually touched the ball officials ruled that he had made contact.[28][30][31] The ball was declared dead at that point and the officials declared that Jessee had committed illegal interference; they declared an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty assessed against Texas. The ball went back to the Sun Devils and they were awarded half the distance to the goal, giving ASU fourth-and-3 at the 7-yard line.[29][32] On the next play, Carpenter threw a touchdown pass to Chris McGaha to make the score 21–7 Texas.[29]

Wesco is good. We need to let him know he’s welcome to transfer here in the future.

Was at the last meeting between Cade and Quinn. Easily the most memorable football game I've ever attended. Both QB's were amazing. Michael Taffe won Def Player of the game award by making an unreal INT vs Quinn. Funny how life changes. this year I'll be rooting for Quinn to win.

Sark must reset this offense -- gotta get on track scoring TDs in the red zone and 30+ points a game again. Better offensive execution and limit penalties and turnovers!!!

It was bound to come out.

"Probably one of the best games on offense was Quinn [Ewers], he really he stood in there and we didn't block some things very well, he took some hits, he made plays outside the pocket, I thought he was really accurate with the ball. We had a season high of drops in a game last yesterday, which which was uncharacteristic for us." -- Steve Sarkisian

I don’t understand how Penn St and ND don’t have higher spread overs SMU and Indiana?

and Texas should be closer.   This is a 17-10 type game unless the offense unfucks itself.

No not brand new, but since it hadn't been mentioned in this thread that's dedicated to that particular game, I figured it could be of use here.

3 of the last 4 games we scored 20, 17, and 16 in regulation.

That's just fucking unacceptable with the skill on this offense and the talent on the line.

I feel like it’s a bit concerning that we are supposed to have an offensive genius has a coach and he produces this. And last year with the red zone

He was playing with a not fully healed sports hernia IIRC. Very gutsy performance by him in that game.

Evergreen, feel like you could make this same comment about him basically every week.

The Texas offense is what it is and is and is not going to exhibit any major growth in game 14 but Clemson's not scoring more than 14 honest points on this defense. As long as we're not serving up easy points via turnovers or short fields from bad special teams Texas should win by double digits in a game that doesn't feel seriously in doubt in the second half.

Copy and paste for ASU, by the way.

He had some OU connection that meant he never looked at us at all. Fortunately, OU was such a mess on offense he took off for South Carolina.

We should the next 2 games. Neither Clemson nor ASU have defenses that rival Kentucky, Aggy, and especially Georgia. We should be able to run on both and these are the types of defenses Quinn feasts on when they don't have the front 7 talent to get to him consistently and stop the run. If we don't put up 30+ against Clemson and ASU it's an offensive failure.

Honestly Oregon's defense should be similar. They had an easy big 10 schedule and Boise, OSU and Penn St being their only legit competition all year. They gave up over 30 to each of those teams.  Keeping their offense under 30 would be the challenge.

Agreed. To put the game in context for the detractors, Westlake had given up 70 points total ‘til that game and Quinn, with a bad injury and getting leveled throughout the game led his team to 35 points! It was an amazing performance by him and I have been a super-fan ever since.

Just looked at our #1 class for '25, still don't see a kicker in there.

Needless to say I'm done with the sideshow experiment, hopefully there is some accuracy and distance in the portal? I can't put the whole game on Bert (we had dropped passes and some that were off target) but fuck sakes it changes the game if he makes all his FG's[emoji85][emoji86][emoji87]

Spencer Barnett is already on the team. He was great at Westlake.

Quinn looks like a guy who will offer you a Miller high life and lie about a fish he caught.

Klubnick looks like a guy that will tell you about his father and then invite your girlfriend to Aspen.

I checked the roster and saw him, but the fact he isn't getting a shot this year tells me Sark/Banks think Bert is the one to roll with?

Sideshow has made some clutch FG's in the past, but he's been wildly inconsistent at times including this season, but this is the first game it's come back to bite us again. Of course he wasn't the only one to blame (plenty to go around) but making all his kicks yesterday greatly changes the game.

Portal

As usual. Our defense will give us the chance to win.  On paper we should roll

But Dak Prescott at qb our offense has done next to zero over the last few weeks and clemson has a decent d line
