Can someone provide some football talk in this thread about what Clemson does well and what they don’t do well?  Also, how can we exploit this?

Ummm, you're in the "2024 Playoffs round 1 Clemson at Texas" thread, so of course not.  Only Quinn/Arch comparisons are allowed.

We should have a lot of favorable matchups in this game.  Clemson lives on explosive plays and Texas is the best in the country at stopping them.  They have a terrible OL and they have issues running the ball.

With that said, I have this knot in my stomach about this game.  Clemson is coming off of a emotional high and no one is picking them to win.  Dabo loves to play the underdog card with his team.  Where Texas is coming off a gut wrench loss with some glaring issues on offense.  This offense is STRUGGLING in the redzone, turning the ball over, and penalties.  Clemson is a shell of its former self but they still have dudes.   As much as we should win this game on paper by double digits, I could also see a scenario where the offense struggles to put up 20 points, missed FGs, penalties, and stadium that looks like it may not even be full with how ticket prices are looking.   Clemson doesn't even have to play a great game, they simply need to hit 1-2 explosive plays, commit to stopping the run, and let this offense shoot itself in the foot with mistakes.

Hope Sark has these guys in a good mental state coming off that loss because we have everything set up for us to make it to the national championship.

Dude, your worries are just vibes. It’s like all the people picking aggy to beat us- no stats or matchups analysis. Clemson is the best draw we could have asked for in these playoffs

we also needed two red zone 4th down stands to beat them.  because we like to play with our food instead of choking people out.

I completely agree.  It's a great matchup for us.  Call it vibes or whatever, I just have a bad feeling this team is going to show up flat after that loss.  Hopefully the stadium sells out and the fans bring the energy.  Maybe I'm still taking the last UGA game hard watching us give it away.  Regardless, Hook em!

This seems very positive.

IMO if he can't practice he shouldn't play....can't have a receiver going half ass on routes.

Bond didn't heal when he sat out for Miss St.  It's been lingering for a couple months at this point, so I am doubtful 2 weeks will be enough for him.

He needs to not play then. Maybe we can get him back if we get to the championship. He is a net negative out there right now. We need Wingo to step up and catch the ball. He has had the dropsies.

I could tell your mom practices attacking the ball last night.

Really sucks.  For the first few games I thought Bond might have been an upgrade from Mitchell.  Any chance he'll come back for his senior year?

Not true. Just needed one of the two, but got both anyway.

Unlike all previous games this season, we'll have *FIVE* AP All-Americans playing for us.  Clemson will have one.

(Advantage: Aggy.)

Totally agree. Bond giving up on a tipped ball directly led to a turnover. We shouldn’t risk it- he’s a liability when hurt

Bond should probably just sit and try to get healthy for a semifinal and hope we get there.   We 'should' be able to win the next 2 games without him if we play well.  I'm not sure we could win a semi or a final without him healthy.

You know we're back when even our white guys are All American.

Soooooo...is Quinn no longer practicing, or is he no longer wearing the ankle brace?

Fera and Dickson say hello

Until the offense and special teams can perform well consistently, I will anticipate us putting ~20 pts a game aka close games

I'm excited for us to lose, cause if so, I think we have a chance to pass Aggy for BEST LOSS in the ESPY's.

Did Sark have a playoff press conference today?

Yes.

Dabo confirmed RB Haynes is out. Tore his ACL in the SMU game. Mafah dealing with a torn labrum

This should make them pretty one-dimensional. Spy Klubnik and keep the receivers in front of the DBs and let our EDGEs get after it

Next week will be much better when the board swings wildly to unbridled optimism and cockiness.

Edited by kevwun

They can trot out whoever they want. Our defense will run.   It’s our offense that’s a problem. If it’s close at half time we may be in trouble because this team shits the fucking bed in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.

4/5 on defense, at least one at every level of the defense, and 2/5 on the line of scrimmage. That's how you build a championship roster, right there.

Lol. Especially when it's not a QB, TE, nor an OL.

And even more impressive when you look back on where this defense was last season.  I for one did not expect that level of improvement.

Wont this be the best qb we have faced all year?

One of the rare full year starters.
