Imagine how bad a cook one's mom would have to be for the Jester cafeteria breakfast to come across as tasty.

RIP, Mom.

You knew Carl IRL?

Speaking of Jester oddballs, we had a guy on our floor that some of you may have known, he used to go see local bands all the time.  We saw him as "odd", but we kinda looked out for him.  In hindsight, he was probably on the spectrum.  At any rate, one of the things he was insanely good at was recounting AM & FM radio station call letters AND THEIR SLOGANS, anywhere in the country.  I couldn't believe it.  I came from a small midwestern town, he asked me where I was from, and sure enough he rattled off our local AM radio station's call letters, frequency and catch phrase.  Unreal.

Breakfast sucked, but they had a couple of evening meals that I loved, sick as that may sound.

Jester W0643 for me. We used to completely open our window to blow smoke out of. Loved to prank each other on the hall-  dumping pitchers of ice water on people in the showers, which escalated to dumping ice water on people taking a shit in the stalls, which escalated to someone coming out of the stall with a turd and chunking it at the person who dumped the water on him, etc... Those were the days!

Dobie was totally locked down for winter break in my era (76-80).

Same thing in 1985…

We had a likely insane guy on our floor that would do pullups out of his window with one of those jam bars.  10 floors up.  Not the kind of guy you trust with your car.

Bro, Jester was such a shit hole when I lived there. I wonder if it's changed at all, or they'll keep making it into a Menace II Society ghetto?

3rd Floor Jester East - Once I found out that the football players didn't get breakfast in their special dining hall (only lunch & dinner was served in the football players' dining hall - no breakfast) and had awesome breakfasts served to them in the 2nd floor of the Jester dining hall, I ate breakfast in 2nd Floor in Jester, and never had breakfast anywhere else again.

The burger patties in the Andrews dining hall were freshly flame-broiled (and not put in the cold, brown, unknown liquid that Jester & Kinsolving put them in--- ugh), so unless I felt like getting a baked potato from Kinsolving's dining hall, I usually ate lunch/dinner in Andrews.

I knew about Andrews' dining hall because in the mid-60s while attending The University, Dad used to work as a cook in Andrews dining hall. He loved it; it allowed him to park on campus every day. He still tells me about things that the girls did to the eggs he'd make that was even worse than dumping ketchup on them.  Lulz.

I never tried Simkins' cafeteria, but I ate Saigon Eggrolls a ton, from any of the locations: 24th & Speedway (or sometimes over by Littlefield Fountain), 26th & Speedway, or on The Drag near The Co-Op.

I miss Saigon Eggrolls!

I heard a hilarious story about a guy that flipped out, grabbed the fluorescent tube bulbs from the hallway lights in Jester, would shout, "I AM ZEUS! FEEL MY LIGHTNING BOLTS!" and would proceed to chase people down the hallways and throw the fluorescent bulbs at people and doors/walls/anything, terrorizing anyone he came in contact with, in addition to having the broken glass shards/mercury/fluorescent-material everywhere from his antics.

I don't think the UTPD caught him in the act, but after he stopped, everyone knew who it was, so he was first taken to be bitched-out by the Head Resident (the HR wanted their pound of flesh) before being expelled.  Lulz.

You must be confusing your rehab for the rehab that I've never had.  Lulz.

Ah-ha! You never found the magic 2nd-floor Jester athletes' breakfasts that I did. Breakfasts fit for a king.

Did you take him to Vegas to count cards?  I bet he loved KMart and the People's Court.

That was on my floor, circa spring of 1990.  I remember that night.

Sometimes I like to think that the bathroom stall door I dented with my fist is still there, telling other stall doors about the night I threw up on myself.

My suitemate (Jester West Fourth Floor) smuggled her dachsund into her room for awhile (spring semester).  Daily Texan later did a story on Jester Beach, with a huge picture of my suitemate with her dog. She was busted and had to send the dog home. She ended up transferring to A&M (not because of the dog - I think it had to do with a sorority sister).  Also, I am now wondering about the second floor breakfast bar - was that available and I just missed it. Ugh,

It's the annual Jester West/East circle jerk. Happens at least once a year. Someone brings it up and everyone piles in reminiscing about their time living there lol

I don't think I ate Pizza Classics or Gumby's when I lived in WC. I did eat the hell out of them late at night when I lived in Jester. Gumby's was quantity and PC was quality!

I am fucking pissed I never found out about the secret second floor breakfast

Are these jack off reunions well attended?

What constitutes the change from a per annum basis to a year with multiple jack off meetings?

Is it current and former Jester alum?

is second floor breakfast a euphemism for these?

It was always fun getting one's bank statements at the end of the month and seeing all the drunk ass checks written to these places for Pizza I never recall ordering and likely never ate.

We might be the only game without snow on Saturday lol

Man, if it snows at 75% of the first round sites, the committee is gonna have to figure out how to rework next year's bracket to put more sites in the south.

Simple, 6 SEC teams

More mindless data to plug into the Surly mainframe computer to see if it impacts the score predictor:

Someone who had a son on Cade's 7-on-7 middle school team told me that this will actually be the fourth time the QBs have played each other. Their 7-on-7 teams played twice with each QB winning one game in two successive years. I saw David Ash at one of Cade's practices. I think he may have been their coach.

They also technically competed in their Elite 11 camp, though not in game conditions.

Sounds like many of you would like to see Quinn benched so Arch can play.

Obviously you are an idiot if you believe this is true.

Actually would love to see it, why is that so offensive for you? It’s just a fuckin opinion dude. Offense seems like it needs some new life to be honest

Two games in Georgia one in LA minimum

But if we would have benched Quinn several games ago we would have sixty TD’s in that timeframe.

Have you not heard?

Jester east. 13 something.

unpossible

jester east = 10 floors

frosh: jester east 723

caper: borrowed sheets to paint signs to hang out the windows for the aggy game; the best, the eAtMe sheet, was unfurled in the first row of the zone by @MaxHorn at pyle in '95

soph: jester east 507

caper: borrowed 100 mattresses from the basement and coated the entire north hall floors and walls

caper: laredo road trip: 2 cars, 3 people per car, park 1 car on the US side, at 1130pm cram all 6 in to one car, drive across, buy 12 cases of coronitas ("2 cases per person per day"), $1.25/case, drive back across, repeat with the other vehicle, stash 24 cases in 1 trunk, after midnight ("the next day") rinse/repeat; 48 cases for $60; somewhere i have a pic of 507 literally wall to wall to ceiling with basically free beer; brought 20 cases home for the summer; oh yeah, gas in the spring of '86 was $1.10/gallon

Including our very own Sam Acho.
Any non Texas haters picking Clemson?

Edit- wrong Acho, surprising Sam is picking the Fightin' Klubniks.

The way Riley is talking it definitely doesn't sound like they're expecting to get much out of Mafah. We gotta force the RBs to beat us.

I put a post up on the Texas offense. Saying that the best way to stop the offense is limiting explosive plays and force them to execute long drives and execute in the red zone. That made me take a look at Clemson's defense. Nobody in the ACC gave up more explosive plays than Clemson (67 plays of 20 yards). They rank 123rd in the nation. That should bode well for the offense.
