January 13Jan 13 He didn’t have a recorded fumble. I think he lost the ball or nearly lost the ball twice in the postseason. One, for sure, on a reception running OoB against ASU. They’ll grind the tape and count that against him.

Has Blue shown great vision? Does he exhibit contact balance? Do you see great lateral ability between the tackles? I prefer to keep him, but right now I only see a 3rd down RB. Maybe he develops into something more in the NFL. Edited January 13Jan 13 by Codaxx

January 13Jan 13 I'm not sure they are officially calculated as fumbles, but i seem to recall him losing the ball off to the sideline many times as well during the regular season that said i wish him the best of luck, he played well when it was most needed

While I wouldn't be altogether surprised if they (Sark/Choice) were to change their minds, I seriously doubt Choice wasn't aware of Blue likely being gone when he made the statement. If you heard the statement, it's kind of an awkward one to explain away (to the RB's in the room) ... sort of like open mouth, insert foot.
January 13Jan 13 Did you happen to catch our playoff game against Washington last season?unfortunately. I was wondering if it started at the end of the year or if it was a season long thing. He had 2 fumbles in 65 attempts in 2023. Right about the same carries per fumblethat’s what I was wondering. He only touched the ball 65 times last season?

January 13Jan 13 With Penn State’s running backs staying in school, the RB class has thinned out some. They aren’t the same kind of back as Blue, but that could make it easier for someone to justify drafting him.

Wouldn’t feel right to play with them for a long time. Gonna need to sim it as accurate as possible and save a stopping point so I can play the 2025-26 season this spring and summer. This loss hurts though. Gonna have to keep CF25 on the shelf for a long while.

January 15Jan 15 Crosspost of great roster stuff from @tokamak So taking a step back and looking at our big picture needs... Offense: QB - All set RB - Opinions vary. Depends a lot on how Baxter bounces back and whether Gibson can get back in the trust tree. I lean toward saying we need 1. TE - Is Niblack coming back? He didn't do much this year but at least he's a body. Could use 1 but hard to see devoting a lot of resources here. WR - Chatter picking up steam that we like what we have. Maybe the price tag for true difference makers is too beaucoup? Need 1-2. OL - Tackle looks set if Goosby and Baker stick around. Seems like they'd add experience on the interior if they could. Defense: DE - Looks good with Moore coming back and Simmons staying. DT - Added two guys that should contribute. One more perhaps? LB - Added one already. Seems like we're OK for now. CB - Need one if Muhammad leaves. S - Probably OK with Taaffe back unless multiple young guys bail. To me, it feels like we still have quite a bit of shopping to do if we fancy ourselves a contender next year. Edited January 15Jan 15 by LTtxfan

January 16Jan 16 RB situation is gonna be pretty interesting next year. Good chance that Wisner, Gibson, Simon, and Stewart are the only projected healthy RBs heading to Columbus for Game 1. I hope for the best with Baxter and Christian Clark, but we're probably lucky to have either 100% ready to go by start of conference play. We'll see, but I expect the offense to look quite different next year with Arch. Fewer condensed formations and misdirections. More downhill blocking and physical running attack. We'll probably see Arch go under center a decent amount too. I like Wisner a lot. But we need another RB to step up and be 1B (if not 1A).

Not disagreeing with you but I think 95% of programs would love to bring back a 1000 yard rusher and a short yardage back who still averaged 4.8 ypc.

Baxter supposedly tore his LCL, if he's not ready to go 12 months later then he's just sitting out for the draft. That's not some catastrophic 12+ month recovery
January 16Jan 16 As far as Blue goes.... I haven't seen an NFL game in 20 years, but I seem to remember that the RB was required on occasion to block. I don't remember that as a strong point of Blue's game....

That's not some catastrophic 12+ month recovery https://www.si.com/college/texas/news/texas-rb-cj-baxter-undergoes-successful-knee-surgery-01j60dh7t47tNow, according to reports from Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com, Baxter underwent successful surgery to repair his LCL and ACL on Tuesday. Baxter was also originally thought to have torn his PCL, but per the report, that ligament remained intact and did not require surgery. The Surgery was performed by Dr. Daniel Cooper in Dallas. Should be good for fall camp.

Some involved in Baxter’s pre-op and post-op believed his injury was more severe than disclosed, with August 2025 being an optimistic recovery timeline. No one is counting him out, but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not ready for Ohio State.
