December 9, 20241 yr Popular Post https://tailgate.surlyhorns.com $100 to get in, $150 if you want some table service and to skip the food line. We have 525 tickets (500 normal, 25 food service ones) I expect to sell at least 300, but pretty good chance we sell out. Menu details to come. It'll be good.

December 11, 20241 yr Author So uh, there's been basically no ticket sales. Are people just not coming to this one?

December 12, 20241 yr So uh, there's been basically no ticket sales. Are people just not coming to this one? Bro that sucks. Guessing the wallets are counting this as wild card weekend.
December 12, 20241 yr Could it be that people are used to buying these the week of the game? Would need to compare it to a tailgate following a bye week?

December 12, 20241 yr Waiting on my son, he’s a Texas grad as of this week. We’re trying like hell to make our schedules work. I’ll know early next week.
December 12, 20241 yr In the same boat. Waiting on son and others to confirm. Will buy tickets this weekend.

December 12, 20241 yr Planning on attending my first Surly tailgate. Since ticket includes all you can booze, what’s the best way to tip the bartenders? Cash or will they have a QR code?

December 13, 20241 yr I'm seriously thinking about a ticket just so I can come down there and meet some of you commie perverts.
December 13, 20241 yr Author I am leaning strongly towards canceling the tailgate. We have sold 7 tickets and I don't want the stress + bow that we have investors I don't feel it's appropriate to just donk off a bunch of money. I'm looking for a tailgate to partner with and send folks to, if you are part of one and can host 40-50 extra people let me know.

I can't imagine people no showing up for this. Weird
December 13, 20241 yr The "get in" price for game tickets on Seat Geek right now is $170. The Georgia game was $650 - $700. The Notre Dame CFP game get in price right now is about $600. The stadium will be full, but I'm surprised at the low ticket prices right now.
December 13, 20241 yr Author Popular Post yep, tailgate canceled. I'm not gonna stress for the next week about this.

December 13, 20241 yr Author Popular Post so 9 people + me stepped up to commit 2k per share for this. We had a 20k budget and breakeven was 200 people at 100 each. Something we've done a bunch of times before and isn't really that crazy especially for a premium post season matchup between 2 teams that have never played and it's a crazy game. I don't feel comfortable with 7 tickets sold spending for a party to feed 200, as you have to make the buys and commit a week in advance then spend a week hoping or taking "whatever" people wanna pay to make up whatever cost we can. "but just drop the price, $100 is steep around Christmas" First off, it's a fucking CFP game tailgate with PRIME RIB AND UNLIMITED OPEN BAR, it's good value and we aren't making money on it. Second off, if we dropped the price to 50 or even 60 we would need to sell 400 tickets or scale the tailgate way down and at the point of scaling the tailgate down you still keep the same $35ish per head in just the spot/tent/coolers/whatever. That leaves 15 bucks per person for food and booze. That's fucking impossible. and it would still require a ton of work and stress on my part to make it happen.

December 13, 20241 yr can we squat and take that spot and all bring something old-school tailgate style or will that spot be sold to someone else? anyway, totally get it and you're doing the right thing. that sounds like a nightmare to coordinate and try to even come close to recovering costs.
