Between Longhorn Christmas and Tiger Cry (Thai) for the menu. Think Longhorn Christmas is better.

Longhorn Christmas:

Smoke roasted prime rib

Turkey breast

Honey glazed ham

Mashed potatoes

Mac and cheese

Variety of pies

Tiger Cry:

Thai marinated flank tiger cry style

Drunken noodles with chicken

Thai basil fried rice

White rice

Eggrolls + spring rolls

Whatever desserts

If I can get some tickets for me and my mom we might be in. Y’all help me find two decent tickets for an old lady and her really old lady mom.

So uh, there's been basically no ticket sales. Are people just not coming to this one?

I have a ticket to the game, but I'm trying to figure out if I'm selling it and going to NOLA. I'm sure lots of people already made holiday plans.

Bro that sucks. Guessing the wallets are counting this as wild card weekend.

Could it be that people are used to buying these the week of the game? Would need to compare it to a tailgate following a bye week?

So you're saying I should feel good about this investment?

Waiting on my son, he’s a Texas grad as of this week. We’re trying like hell to make our schedules work. I’ll know early next week.

In the same boat.  Waiting on son and others to confirm.  Will buy tickets this weekend.

Does the $100 include booze?

Idiot - why don't you read?

Planning on attending my first Surly tailgate. Since ticket includes all you can booze, what’s the best way to tip the bartenders? Cash or will they have a QR code?

green stamps only

Found out I got tix today through my buddy who is a foundation member. Will poll the group to see if they want to tailgate.

Be sure to tell them the menu.

I'm seriously thinking about a ticket just so I can come down there and meet some of you commie perverts.

I am leaning strongly towards canceling the tailgate. We have sold 7 tickets and I don't want the stress + bow that we have investors I don't feel it's appropriate to just donk off a bunch of money.

I'm looking for a tailgate to partner with and send folks to, if you are part of one and can host 40-50 extra people let me know.

I don't even know if I have tickets to the game yet or not. I can't imagine people no showing up for this. Weird

The "get in" price for game tickets on Seat Geek right now is $170.  The Georgia game was $650 - $700.  The Notre Dame CFP game get in price right now is about $600.  The stadium will be full, but I'm surprised at the low ticket prices right now.

yep, tailgate canceled. I'm not gonna stress for the next week about this.

Check back with me next year my man. Happy holidays.

Don't cancel it, just amend your menu to be much more "presidential"

No matter. The Star will return, will-ye, nil-ye.

so 9 people + me stepped up to commit 2k per share for this.

We had a 20k budget and breakeven was 200 people at 100 each. Something we've done a bunch of times before and isn't really that crazy especially for a premium post season matchup between 2 teams that have never played and it's a crazy game.

I don't feel comfortable with 7 tickets sold spending for a party to feed 200, as you have to make the buys and commit a week in advance then spend a week hoping or taking "whatever" people wanna pay to make up whatever cost we can.

"but just drop the price, $100 is steep around Christmas" First off, it's a fucking CFP game tailgate with PRIME RIB AND UNLIMITED OPEN BAR, it's good value and we aren't making money on it. Second off, if we dropped the price to 50 or even 60 we would need to sell 400 tickets or scale the tailgate way down and at the point of scaling the tailgate down you still keep the same $35ish per head in just the spot/tent/coolers/whatever. That leaves 15 bucks per person for food and booze. That's fucking impossible. and it would still require a ton of work and stress on my part to make it happen.

As someone who books bands of our neighborhood for holidays, I get this completely.

can we squat and take that spot and all bring something old-school tailgate style or will that spot be sold to someone else?

anyway, totally get it and you're doing the right thing. that sounds like a nightmare to coordinate and try to even come close to recovering costs.

I’m kinda shocked that turnout is so low, but I’m not going either so 🤷‍♂️

You gave it a shot and it is appreciated. Just enjoy the play-off game with your son and let folks say what they are going to say when only you know what it takes to get this done.
