I saw the tent there last night on way into Moody. Not sure if they would take it down, even if the party that normally resides there surrenders the space. Suppose they could always sell it to someone else, but my guess is that tailgating will be somewhat curtailed due to holidays (cfp game or not).

regardless, thank you for the efforts and enjoy the game with your kiddo. 🤘

so 9 people + me stepped up to commit 2k per share for this.

We had a 20k budget and breakeven was 200 people at 100 each. Something we've done a bunch of times before and isn't really that crazy especially for a premium post season matchup between 2 teams that have never played and it's a crazy game.

I don't feel comfortable with 7 tickets sold spending for a party to feed 200, as you have to make the buys and commit a week in advance then spend a week hoping or taking "whatever" people wanna pay to make up whatever cost we can.

"but just drop the price, $100 is steep around Christmas" First off, it's a fucking CFP game tailgate with PRIME RIB AND UNLIMITED OPEN BAR, it's good value and we aren't making money on it. Second off, if we dropped the price to 50 or even 60 we would need to sell 400 tickets or scale the tailgate way down and at the point of scaling the tailgate down you still keep the same $35ish per head in just the spot/tent/coolers/whatever. That leaves 15 bucks per person for food and booze. That's fucking impossible. and it would still require a ton of work and stress on my part to make it happen.

You did your best so don't fret over it. I too am surprised by the low response, but around the holidays it's a crapshoot with family plans etc.

Maybe a Surly 1%er or 2 will step up at the last minute with a couple large checks...other than that forget it and enjoy the holidays.

Promoter of neighborhood?

That sucks but understandable.  I was probably going to signup next week but had to make sure it would work with holiday plans.  Anyone not going to the game getting together for a watch party somewhere?

But - and I am only saying this because I care - there are a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market today that are just as tasty as the real thing.

This is bullshit. Have I ever been to a Surly tailgate? No. Do I demand that they be put on each week? Absolutely. I want my money back.

completely understandable. thanks for the effort regardless.

Thanks for all season and this is totally understandable. We were still trying to get sitter logistics and plans set before buying. You’ve worked your ass off all season at these and you don’t deserve the added stress.

Fuck having the stress.  Hope everyone just relax and party in your own way and enjoy watching the Horns beat Clemson.

Personally just been through a divorce so $ is extremely tight but freed up enough for this event. Disappointed but I hear you immamac.

In your honor I'm going to squat on the curb in the general vicinity of the former party site with a bottle of Boone's Farm. Y'all are all welcome to join me

I think you probably would have gotten more RSVPs if you had Helobius giving out complimentary handies at the tailgate.

I think this being 4 days before Xmas is pretty dumb...

They should have just made it an 8 team playoff with no conference ties and told people to fuck off.

Not only would Oregon have been rewarded with playing Indiana in the opening round it would have cut out this awkwardly timed first round.

I'm happy to do a prime rib cook whenever in normal times was just worried about the logistics this round since I don't live in Austin anymore.

I don't think price is was the issue. I honestly think a lot of people are barely gonna get away with going to the game. Family commitments are real around this time of year and I feel like many people will be driving/flying in the day of because last minute hotels in austin around the holidays are also fucking impossible. Everything was working against this game instead of it being really hyped up and well organized everything even from the AD side of things is a complete clusterfuck of epic proportions.

Definitely don’t sweat it. I can’t imagine anyone is disappointed in you.

I genuinely get the impression that many people are not sure to do with this game. Even people in my group are having a hard time deciding if they should go to the game or sell their tickets. I think that’s why people didn’t want to commit to the tailgate. It’s not just that it’s close to Christmas, it’s that it’s new and people haven’t set their minds on embracing it or taking advantage of it.

I assume a lot of people already had trip plans and flights purchased to be other places for Christmas. I’ll be home and able to go to the game, but if I were going to be somewhere else already, I might not change plans to go to the game.

In meant in the sense that they think imma is a shitty person for pulling the plug. It’s bullshit if he has to feel the burden of fronting a bunch of money for something that may not even pay for itself just because he wants us to have a good time before the game. I appreciate that @immamac, but we will survive. You don’t need to stress over it. You bust your ass for our school that you didn’t even attend. I think that awesome.

My daughter's birthday is a couple of days before Christmas, so we typically plan her party a week or two before, knowing that people are busy with holiday and family stuff. Usually we can still draw a crowd, but this year we will barely even make the venue minimum of ten guests.

With Thanksgiving being late and the short time before the 25th, it's tough. People are with their families.
