It's a good thing there is too much light pollution there for people to be able to see the star link constellations.  (Those things piss me off when I'm in the country looking for meteors).

72-year-old Dennis Winn took his 9mm gun and shot a Walmart delivery drone as it flew over his property. He was charged with shooting at an aircraft, criminal mischief damage over $1,000, & discharging a firearm in publicDid he have the right to shoot it?

Do we own the airspace above our properties?  If so, how far up?

if he can shoot this drone @50 ft or whatever, could he legally shoot down a 737 at 30k ft if he had the ability to do so?

If drones were flying all around our cities and military installations for weeks without impunity (as it seems virtually certain there have been), do you actually think we'd do nothing?  We are presently doing nothing and seem to be downplaying it to the best of our abilities.  So I think we know what they are, for better or worse.

The drones are being controlled from inside the house.

Clear statement from NSC today:

NO corroborated drone sightings

NO mothership

NO foreign nexus to alleged sightings

Most inquiry into reported sightings are just manned civilian aircraft

Gap in authorities of who responds to stuff like this.

Government communication has been disjointed to say the least. But what we have in NJ is textbook mass hysteria and social contagion.  It’s truly alarming how many people walked outside and flipped their shit after seeing the airliners and biz jets and helicopters they see every day, flashing international standard civil aviation lights.  This whole uproar has been driven by irresponsible and uninformed local elected officials, a stream of bullshit from the UFO media, and really bad communications from people who should do better.

Finally, an official voice of reason. No drone reports have been corroborated as drones. Many drone reports have been identified as normal aircraft. There's no evidence of any threat. However, drones are still an important security concern.Like I said.

I've just been assuming it's amatuer drone operators are flying drones near these facilities. It started happening in one place, and dipshits started doing it everywhere.  Is that not a reasonable scenario? Why are people jumping straight to misidentification or conspiracy theories.  I'm lost.  What am I missing?

The news media, because they don't know the difference between an Airbus A380 and a beluga whale (and not to be confused with the Airbus Beluga) keeps playing clips of commercial and GA planes and calling them drones. See the below clip for reference. All. Fucking. Normal. Planes. And dumb people, who started looking up at the night sky for the first time, are recording video of United 737s and calling them drones, because obviously drones have navigation lights, landing lights and a United tail logo. Today, I saw a lady post on X that her area never used to get any air traffic and now she's seeing a bunch of drones go over. I did some light stalking and found out she lives on the fucking. base. leg. of. the. approach. to. Newark. Airport. There's no mass drone invasion going on. I have yet to see a single video of an actual drone during this whole thing in NJ.

Not all of them are planes. Sure most are, not all. I cant think of many good reasons to fly a car sized drone over densely populated areas and bases

Those aren't triangular blue lights. That's a horrid quality camera showing 3 white lights and two lights on the left and right ends, which just so happen to match up with the red and green navigation lights on airplanes. Green on the right wingtip, red on the left:

If only we could figure out what is happening 20 miles west of Newark.  Oh right, that's the downwind leg for Newark Airport 🤣  Not to mention all the other traffic crossing through to get to Teterboro and 7 billion other airports.  Loved the interview I saw where an old guy was describing a long line of never-ending "drones" going over.  Yeah dude, that's how airplanes go into airports.

I already lost by spending about 5 hours debunking "drone" sightings over the past few days. All over something no one will care about in 2 weeks. But I'm happy all the submersible experts got to add a drone degree to their resume, though.

Sheriff of Monmouth County, New Jersey has released a "heat map" of reported "drones".As you can see below, it lines up pretty well with normal air traffic of normal planes.#Drones #NewJersey

Regarding the alleged drones over New Jersey and New York as Micah states there really is no consistent description besides something flying and at night with lights. Basically anything. So to specifically count all of these reports and add them up as anything beyond mistaken conventional aircraft is a stretch IMO. Perhaps a better case study in human fallibility when it comes to identifying various conventional light planes and helicopters. Drones technically shouldn’t be operating after dusk per FAA Part 107 rules for UAS operators. But Identifying drones versus airplanes is going to be a challenge at night unless the vehicle is within a couple hundred feet. The clips I’ve seen clearly look like airplanes. Not even drones. While some may indeed be surveillance type drones operated by our military or adversaries or even UAP of non-human origins - the evidence points to 1) misidentification of aircraft and 2) drones or UAV so far .

A few weeks ago I saw something that I thought might be a large drone from my backyard.  At first I thought it was just a regular jumbo jet climbing out of Bush IAH, since I have a great view of them leaving Houston and flying West.  But what caught my attention was that it sat in one place for between 20 to 30 minutes, as the normal traffic out of Bush kept moving by, one plane after another.  Whatever it was, it had to be pretty big because it looked like the other traffic, except it stayed in the same place, but obviously pretty far away.  Similar lights and size.  I thought it might be a helicopter, but it was too stationary for that.  No idea what it was.  I didn't see it move off, I went inside for a little while and when I checked later it was gone.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the US government looked into the US government's response and determined that the US government is doing a great job. They've given conflicting messages on this, including in briefings to senators, and Kirby got raked over the coals later in this briefing.  And if you listen to his response, his denial is pretty carefully and narrowly worded - e.g., "many" have been identified as aircraft (how many is "many"?  the majority?  how many have you not been able to identify?) and we haven't corroborated any "visual" sightings of "drones" (have they been corroborated in other ways?).

All the lawmakers getting briefings on this seem to be awfully concerned, including Corey Booker, who is a serious person.  Of course some people are misidentifying things and the concept of a "mothership" seems absurd, but it seems beyond doubt that *something* is going on and invading our airspace for a month and we haven't been able to do a single thing about it.

I don’t think Americans know how drones are being used in Ukraine. The media should run some videos from websites like Funker530. They modify hobby drones to drop grenades on troops.  They also have FPV drones that will chase you around and detonate when they impact you. It’s brutal and terrifying. I’m sure they’ll be part of the big homeland attack whenever it happens.

This is an outstanding post. Thank you for posting it. That’s the sort of clear government statement that I kept waiting to hear. It’s a reminder that in a world of instant social media, media outlets no longer have the time, or desire?, to check into a story before posting about it. The government was a little slow to respond with clear information too.

Common sense is dead.
In the ENTIRE state of NJ, is some sighting an actual drone? Sure. It’s impossible to track down every sighting and verify. Shit, I’ve seen drones around here from time to time, they’re not unusual or necessarily sinister. Is there some massive “outbreak” of drones flying…in the same places where a shitload of regular aircraft fly? Almost certainly not.

The odds of there being some sort of NJ “drone crisis”…vs this being a mass hysteria feedback loop…are very very low. Occam’s razor and all that shit.

And yes, drones are the next gen threat. We should work on local and federal coordination and preparation. But that doesn’t mean we’re under attack today.

Below is the flight data around Davidsonville, MD (pin) 9:40pm - 9:55pm. Around 9:42pm, 3 aircraft begin to fly pretty close to you. It takes them 10 minutes to fully pass you and land at BWI airport. Also, in your video when you pan up, it looks like the constellation Orion

I’m losing my fucking mind, this is a functioning person, a senator and Democrat. He describes perfectly the standard civil aviation lights on every aircraft and then announces that they are inexplainable.  He cites a flight tracking app, which of course isn’t always right and more importantly, unless you track flights seriously and have experience you likely don’t realize how far away you can see airplanes on a clear night.  Clinton Township is near some of the busiest airspace in the world and you should probably nearly always be able to spot a plane at night.

Any footage of these things that don’t include time, exact location, and direction is useless to try and look at.

Green and red lights: Aircraft flying toward you.

Red light: Port wing facing you.

Green light: Starboard wing facing you.

White light: Aircraft flying away from you.

We are so fucked as a country, just catastrophically stupid.

Last night I went out with local police to spot drone flying over New Jersey, here’s what I saw. We drove to Round Valley Reservoir and the officer pointed to lights moving low over the tree line. Sometimes they were solid white light, others flashed of red and green.THREAD
