May 12May 12 Author I used those in Amsterdam and saw them in Ghent, too. In Ghent they were funny because they were more like a line of urinals all side by side with little dividers but the front partition stopped at about shoulder high so you could look out and at people while peeing. Pretty funny.

I've got to got to Welcome to Rockville some time. that lineup looks fantastic and VIP tickets are only 700.00 for 4 days.

Prices are already through the roof. All 3-days are sold out (both weekends) and Saturday is sold out (both weekends). Aftermarket 1-day tix are roughly as much as the official 3-day tix were. We're out unless some private sales come up at the last minute.

August 8Aug 8 God dammit we are STILL suffering this infernal "indie folk" shit some two decades after it all started. Which "artist" is responsible -- Fleet Foxes?

Counterpoint (and believe me, Mumford & Sons is anathema to me): there is a point towards the end of The New Basement Tapes where Marcus Mumford is losing his shit because he hasn't written his required song putting lost Dylan lyrics to original music. He stays up all night and ends up coming up with the best song of everyone there. I was pretty impressed. Edited August 13Aug 13 by jimmyjazz

My singer-songwriter cousin, who's also not a Mumford/Indie-folk fan, liked it so much that he covered that cover at a house concert shortly after it was released.

But nicely done on the minstrel image @jimmyjazz
August 13Aug 13 Yeah, I don't recall how Depp wormed his way into that recording session. He wasn't one of the participating songwriters, which included Mumford, Elvis Costello, Jim James, Mr. Dawes whatever his name is, etc.

I saw him onstage with a bunch of folks of Clapton's Crossroad's festival when it came through Dallas a while back. He's not great, but he's not bad at all. I'd say he's a competent side man. I was once told that the key to getting good gigs wasn't so much to be a virtuoso. Rather, the key is not to be an asshole. Don't embarrass anyone, know your parts and be fun to be around. I've known tons of guys who play much better than I do. But plenty are divas who not only lord it over everyone else, but demand that you recognize their greatness. Then try and extend a 12 bar solo to...15 minutes? You may play bass better than Geddy Lee, or guitar better than Hendrix. But who wants to spend their time around that?
August 19Aug 19 I'd love to see Wet Leg but that place is going to be absolutely insane. Mohawk with only one afterparty seems notable. Maybe some really big lockouts?
August 29Aug 29 Doja Cat is out to be replaced by The Killers. Thus, I had to by a couple 1-day passes for W1/Sunday for my lovely wife.

Have a blast out there!

October 2Oct 2 This year, I've seen something I've never seen before as they have set up for ACL. Almost every tree, and certainly every tree on the perimeter of the park, has been fenced off. Thought that maybe that was just to keep the workers from damaging them during construction, but they were still in place Tuesday night. If these are still up for the festival, that's a shitload of acreage gone, and especially shaded areas where they used to have vendors. Very curious to see if they leave these up: IMG_0839.MOV
