I really enjoyed the first 4 seasons of Dexter, but most everything after that has been underwhelming at best. Dexter could have been a truly epic series if it took the same path as Breaking Bad and ended with 5 seasons and the death of the main character.

I rewatched Dexter a few years ago. I enjoyed the end seasons a bit more than my original watch but the quality does take a big dip. I believe this coincided with the writer's strike back then and Dexter lost their main writers?

New Blood was ok, nothing special. Definitely not needed but neither was the El Camino movie of the Breaking Bad franchise.

Is there really still a market for people who want to see the Dexter world?

Thought Dexter’s son in New Blood was miscast.  Also, casting Clancy Brown as the villain was unoriginal AF.

I binged Dexter last year when it showed up on Netflix. 8 seasons I think?  And yeah the last 4 were much worse than the first 4, or thereabouts. All the cop politicking promotion drama.

I remember enjoying it at the time.. but looking at it now it has such a USA network production feel to me ie: Burn Notice, Monk. Psych

I did the same a few months ago when I was trapped in the house with covid except I stopped after season 4. I remember it being better  back when I watched it originally but still worth a watch if you've never seen it.

Watching the opening credits always makes me want over easy eggs with hot sauce.

Yeah, the writers just didn't know how to wrap it up and strung it out about 3 seasons too far.

At least they didn’t follow the books where he was a host for an alien that was making him do the killing.

I just finished the first episode. That was absolutely terrible. Just awful. Nothing that would want me to watch the second episode.

I'm not sure I agree 100% with your police work there Lou - Misc - quickmeme

I liked it. I would give it a shot IMO.

2nd and 3rd episodes were better.
Terrible choice for young Masuka.
Good one for LaGuerta though.
