You think Belichick's been on a bender? I'm on a mission to expose what's really been going on at Surly Horns. And now, I'm ready to share it with the world.

He’s covering his ass and getting the excuses out there for if they do very well very quickly.  He didn’t have the money or the adademic standards to field a good team.

Yep, once you know Mack's real personality the fake nice guy bullshit just jumps out at you.

Nor the brains or the balls

Things should ramp up pretty quickly in the next few weeks as the ACC media days begin July 22.

Curious how Bill will handle that and who accompanies him.

Then we get the Labor Day night opener between UNC and TCU on ESPN.

Do we get a Marty Smith feature with the happy couple or how about we get Bill and Nick talking football while Jordan plays Marty in horse.

Bill Belichick company, managed by Jordon Hudson, files to trademark 'Gold Digger'

TCE Rights Management LLC intends to use mark on jewelry and key chains\

Quote

A company owned by North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick and managed by his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has filed to trademark the term "Gold Digger," with the intention to use the mark on jewelry and key chains.

Since at least June 2024, Belichick, 73, has been dating Hudson, a 24-year-old former cheerleader, who has been accused by some as being a "gold digger," a term that refers to someone who enters into a relationship mainly for financial reasons.

Now, it seems, Belichick and Hudson want to capitalize on the criticism.

The company that filed the trademark, TCE Rights Management LLC, under Hudson's direction filed 17 trademark applications in a week earlier in 2025, including "Chapel Bill," "Belestrator," "Trail of Salty Tears," "No Days Off" and "The Belichick Way," among others.

Hudson has been very involved in all aspects of the former New England Patriots coach's life, from media management to a growing real-estate portfolio.

The filing was first reported by trademark attorney Josh Gerben.

Y'all seem to think Bill's death will be announced as "Sildenafil Overdose", but it's probably going to be the same as Elvis... "Straining at Stool."

I’m no trademark lawyer, but how can a ubiquitous random term like gold digger be trademarked?

I'm not a trademark lawyer, but my understanding is that it's very, very difficult, if not impossible.

Can You Trademark Common Words or Expressions?

The short answer is yes, a common word, phrase, or expression can be trademarked if the individual or the organization seeking the trademark can clearly demonstrate that the said common word/expression has acquired a unique, secondary meaning apart from the original meaning that is clearly associated with that individual or organization.

So if she can demonstrate that she's taken the term Gold Digger to such an extreme that it's acquired a new, secondary meaning associated with her, then yes, she can.

(Seems similar to the Fox News legal defense, when they successfully claimed that no reasonable viewer could expect anything on Fox News to be factual.)

Hold up - "Trail of Salty Tears?" Does Fatal Attraction even know what she's satirizing?

I’m at that age where I consciously attempt NOT to “strain at stool”

Paging @TwiceHorn to offer a personal opinion of how crazy this is.

or conversely if it is meritorious and he will be representing me in the trademarking of the term “fuck off”

Remember that a trademark is not the unfettered exclusive right to use a word or phrase.  It's the right to use that word or phrase in connection with the sale of specified goods or services.

So, you can take a common phrase like "fuck off" and call your law firm FUCK OFF LLP and very possibly register a trademark in Fuck Off for legal services.

What you can't do is take a common and descriptive phrase, like "kick ass lawyers," and register a trademark in that.  Or a truly generic phrase like good lawyers or best lawyer.

So, you can trademark just about any word or phrase that is capable of association with your goods or services in the minds of consumers.  You cannot register just any word or phrase in any context.

There are currently 17 registered trademarks for "gold digger" or incorporating gold digger for goods from "snowmobile ice studs" to "metal detectors" (hey, that's almost descriptive!) to "fishing rods," and yes "legal services" for "gold digger killer."

There are another seven pending, including TCE Rights Management, which seems to be BB and his hoor. https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=99356462&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch

It's for jewelry and key chains, and, if granted, will only confer the right to stop other sellers of jewelry and keychains from using "gold digger" or something similar.  It's not going to give her a lawsuit against everyone who calls her a gold digger.

It's secondary meaning or acquired distinctiveness in connection with goods she sells or services she provides.  And servicing BB doesn't count.

Mack brown is a total POS… on BIG NOON basically said UNC is finally committing to football they should win big and BB was the greatest in the NFL where players are paid and now with NIL he should win big.

This was Mack setting Bill up for failure.  Sort of like Charlie’s “the cake is baked” comment

I was in OKC yesterday listening to a local radio station and Dari Nowkhah had Benjamin Watson on as a guest.

Dari asked Watson what he thought of BB’s debut and he said “he got exactly what he deserved.” He went on to say BB always said the team came first in NE and there were to be absolutely no distractions. “The Patriot Way”

After the break and Watson left, Dari went on to say that Watson has shown him group texts from former Patriot players before the season started saying things like, “Can you believe this shit?!”

Dari said Watson is the nicest guy in the world and for him to use that language was shocking.

For those that don’t know, Dari and Watson work together in the SEC studios in Charlotte so I have no reason not to believe him.

Ehh.. yes and no. It's Mack hedging the shit out of the situation so he looks good either way.

Bill fails, "Well, I thought with all those resources he would be successful." (Poor little ME didn't have all that money)

Or

Bill is successful "Yeah, I never had all that money like Bill and I even thought he would be successful". (Poor little ME didn't have all that money)

And it parlays to Texas and Sark cause if:

Sark fails, "Well, I thought with all those resources he would be successful." (Poor little ME didn't have all that money)

Or

Sark is successful and wins an NC "Yeah, I never had all that money like Sark and I even thought he would be successful". (Poor little ME didn't have all that money)

I don’t think we disagree. This was Mack protecting Mack.

of course he won, they’re finally investing in nil after I lost

he lost?  Even with those resources?

Dari and Mel was a far superior show to whatever ESPN has on Saturday mornings now.

I miss their show.

As usual, @Thatsgoodsports has a very funny take on Belichick's epic fail. I particularly like the line about Jordan waiting at home to give him a stiff drink..of Metamucil.

UNC, Belichick ban Patriots staff from program.

Interesting.  Perhaps they were filming practice for competitive advantage.

Er, what? Feels like I'm reading a parody article.  Treating NFL scouts like shit  doesn't seem like a smart recruiting strategy.
