It's totally fine if Bond and the rest of the players were coached to offer a non-committal reply, but the reporter was just doing their job while covering a promotional news event. Also Barron was badass this year and will definitely be missed. Kudos to the NIL team for retaining him, and the coaches for coaching him up. I hear you. I don't think I explained it well. The players were absolutely invited 'cause Raising Cane's wanted publicity for their contribution to the Boys and Girls Club of Austin. But don't ask the player about his injury when he just starts speaking about the event.
January 28Jan 28 Who cares if it was a reporter at a press event….no one owes the media anything. Anyone can tell the media to fuck off anytime they want. The point there was Barron was being a good teammate to Bond. Just because you are trying to be a good journalist doesn’t mean you have everyone else’s ethics and best interest in mind.

Not trying to go CR here, but our system depends on as much independent journalism as we can get. The PR end needs to be ready for that, and it sounds like Jahdae was. Where did you teach Journalism and PR, if you are willing to say? 1 hour ago, DaggerHorns said: Who cares if it was a reporter at a press event….no one owes the media anything. It is comical how many people are flattered to be interviewed by media thinking it will be a good thing for them, and it all goes horribly wrong.
January 28Jan 28 “hey isaiah, how are you feeling?” MAN FUCK THIS ASSHOLE!!!! 😡 lol are y’all serious right now?

That’s the best part. One side is a player that’s talking about his body. It’s how he eats and delivers a better life for his family. The other side has a job to sell a story regardless of their audience, personal opinions or moral compass. So please, tell me which side should have more empathy and understanding. On a bigger scale, fuck the media, fuck social media and fuck reporters. Best part about going to a game in person is you can watch it how you want and not have to listen to some mongoloid on a mic blab about a bunch of bullshit. Same thing with this message board. Just sit back and read the nonsense from all of the moronic psychopaths that post here (myself included).
January 28Jan 28 We will have 3 first round picks. That's going.to pay huge dividends for our recruiting going forward. GA, here we come. Atkinson will see what Hill is doing and want some of that, especially knowing he'll be a first rounder, and how our staff develops players.

January 28Jan 28 Should’ve asked if he goes slaw or extra toast instead. That’s what the people want.

Definitely should have kept yaw-yaw We're tied with LSU and fOSU with all three of us having 3 Thorpe winners. It's been awhile since the aforementioned have had one. So as we just got one, we're DBU now. But.you are absolutely correct that both LSU and tOSU are WRU/QBU, and it's not really close in 3rd. Those 2 churn out WR'sQB's regardless of who they have ats a coach. Gotta say, it's impressive. Edited January 29Jan 29 by Funk Doctor Spock
January 29Jan 29 we have been DBU since 1983 and at no point since then has that ever changed. good luck choosing your starting five from (among others) jerry gray, mossy cade, bryant westbrook, michael huff, aaron ross, quentin jammer, earl thomas, cedric griffin, jahdae barron, nathan vasher, and so on and so forth. we have an embarrassment of riches all time at that position. January 29Jan 29 off the top of my head, i guess i would go: CB: Westbrook CB: Jammer S1: Gray S2: Huff Nickel: ET leaving the 2-deep looking like: CB: Jahdae CB: Ross S1: Cade S2: Vasher Nickel: ced griffin that’s without mentioning stanley richard, tarrell brown, chris carter, michael griffin, craig curry, taje allen, aaron williams, or any of the 7 former UT DB’s who are currently in the NFL. Texas is and always has been DBU.

First teaching gig was an assistantship in UT's journalism department and have done grad work/taught at a couple of other Big XII schools. Also still do some minor freelance journalism on the side on occasion. I get the impatience with reporters (especially TV folks -- and even more so as an admittedly biased former newspaper reporter 😁).

I know how interesting it is now with all the new media. As a magazine publisher, PR connected to social media is a major part of our world. And yes, I am biased towards print reporters vs TV reporters. Real coverage vs sound bites and stunts.

January 29Jan 29 just to reiterate in case an lsu fan ever tries to tell you that Texas isn’t DBU: we have two thorpe award winners who don’t crack our (or least my personal) starting 5 db’s. lsu has star power at the top, but our two-deep >>>>

Agree in principle, but at the front of the classroom, I'm that guy -- the antithesis of brevity. I survive by mocking myself for talking too damn much and remind students that I'm a writer because only then am I able to follow brevity guidelines.

Well, over the internet, that would probably have to be in stream-of-consciousness writing rather than spoken, so ... nah. My internet tough guy days are over. Carpal tunnel, trigger finger, arthritis. I mean, I can fill up space every now and then, but those are my excuses. I just talk a lot sometimes, but I'm not claiming to actually be any good at it.
January 30Jan 30 i’m the same, except that everything i say is extremely profound and well received and people love me for it.

Texas is and always has been DBU. I must be a few years older than you, so would have to include Johnnie Johnson in that list at CB. Two-time "consensus All-American", and chosen by Downtown Athletic Club as nation's best DB in 1978 (before there was a Thorpe award), first round draft pick, College FB HOF, etc. Mossy Cade and Jerry Gray in the same backfield was legendary. Nobody went deep or scored from a distance. Gray ran down Bo Jackson from behind.
February 8Feb 8 Him shutting down Jeremiah Smith is one of the best single-game performances from a defensive back I can recall since being a Longhorn fan.
February 8Feb 8 Anytime I hear someone talk about how good Smith is, I’m gonna be tempted to tell them “1 catch, 3 yards.”
February 28Feb 28 todd mcshay effusively praising jahdae. says he’s a top 10 player in the draft. https://x.com/ringer/status/1895249274130092223?s=46
