Definitely a game where we can try to get some of our spot role players some minutes early to see if they can contribute during the conference gauntlet

Mississippi Valley State looks like an NBA team compared to this bunch.

Safe to say one of those occurred during Kaiser Bob's reign of suck.

Shedrick is a waste of a spot. He’s so bad. WTF was RT thinking?

In fairness to RT, Shedrick was one of the best bigs in the portal that cycle. Turns out he’s just not any good.

Fucking embarrassing to schedule a game like that.

Embarrassing or smart?

I'll never understand people that argue over this when beating the shit out of these type of teams helps you in NET. The women's team could very well be #1 in NET tomorrow with wins over Southwest Missouri State, Lamar, Depaul, Tarleton State, New Mexico State, WV, James Madison, Southern, and Richmond.

Nobody is gonna think that's embarrassing when they are a 1 seed at the end of the year.

I got no big complaints about this game since the team did what it needed to and got lots of playing time for guys that hadn’t scored nor played much this year … good scrimmage … I’d prefer this game much earlier in the season and a real challenge this close before conference starts but it is what it is.

They seemed pretty unselfish without Johnson on the court and it looked good (granted against a weak ass team)

Yeah, I think we've played a lot better in the last 2 games. Not hero ball and actual ball/player movement.

It's against shit competition but we didn't play this way against shit competition early in the year. Guess we need to see if it translates to better competition.

I do think we need Tre to calm down a bit on the offensive end. He's a little too shot happy but that's expected with a FR.

There are 364 teams total. But we're stepping up the competition a bit next week. New Orleans rolls is checking in at 346.

Tre will calm down as he gets more comfortable with his teammates.

This weekend was the varsity bball reunion and it's sad that this was the game CDC picked

Does CDC pick the game or does Terry?

Random question that has nothing to do with this topic, but when did college JV teams disappear? My dad always talks about how Pete Maravich wasn't allowed by the NCAA to play varsity his freshman year, so JV games would always be packed to watch him and then no one would stay for the varsity games. That would have been in the late 60s. My earliest sports memories are from the mid 80s and there were no JV squads by that point.

NCAA allowed Freshmen to play football and basketball in 1972.  not sure when JV teams/freshman teams stopped being a thing.  maybe it was a conference decision.

You are correct. I think that the shorthorns in hoops were around 1 or 2 years but since football

had unlimited scholarships, they were probably ended that year. BTW, the late Bill Walton had to play freshman ball.

If you're talking about the reunion, it's probably CDC. I don't know about the regular schedule.

So you went from implying that CDC definitely picked that game to now saying he probably did?

Why would an athletic director even care which game is a player’s reunion game? that’s all I’m wondering.

Yeah I don't see why CDC would care which game, as long as it didn't interfere with something.

RT "Hey Chris, I want to make Arkansas Pine Bluff the reunion game for Texas basketball alumni"

CDC "Yeah sure whatever, cool"

Because of available tickets. He would rather sell tickets than give them away so he chooses a game that will

probably not draw a large crowd.

UK fielded a JV team for the 95-96 season.

Sorry, I just don’t buy that.

That may be because you don't know the way things worked in the past.

Well, I just don’t think CDC is out to make a buck.

DeLoss? Yes.

CDC? That’s out of character.

I also don’t think CDC cares when alumni weekend is.

Having an alumni recognition game against a patsy school where tickets will be plentiful is pretty standard practice across schools and sports. That why you always see the band reunion or football cheerleader reunion weekend happening when we play ULM and not Georgia.

Big games are when you recognize one alum, not all of them.
