They were both little bitches and both had good points at times. You talking about the Senna doc film or the series? The Senna film was good, but was very slanted in Senna's favor and paints it all one way. Senna's way. I haven't seen the series. I met and got to talk quite a bit with the doc's director Asif Kapadia here in Austin at the world premier at the Paramount. Good guy, but a massive Senna fanboi, and it really shows in the movie. In the movie, Senna could do no wrong, and everything was the fault of evil Prost. It's bullshit.
January 5Jan 5 I watched the series. I will check out the documentary. I kinda figured it was at least a little slanted. Edited January 5Jan 5 by kevwun
January 6Jan 6 I saw the movie in Miami on opening night. Like 6-8 NSXs scattered throughout the parking garage, and a bunch of other cool shit. But at the end of the movie, just as the credits were rolling, some dude stood up and yelled "SENNA!!!" in this overly dramatic, anguished voice at the top of his lungs, and I'm still embarrassed for him, and everyone else, too. January 7Jan 7 If you like racing photography and cool background stories, check out this thread over on Autosport. Someone starts one like it every F1 offseason, counting down the days until the opening GP with pics of cars, bikes, racing aircraft, racing boats, and more with the corresponding numbers. Hundreds of great and/or interesting motorsport pics from all eras, often with background writeups about the cars and/or their drivers, the races they raced in, etc. About 500 posts so far. Good stuff. https://forums.autosport.com/topic/227400-t-minus-98-days-and-counting-the-annual-countdown-thread/ Edited January 8Jan 8 by wood

It was a similarly cool little practice.
January 9Jan 9 Yet another reason I'm rapidly losing interest in F1 during the LM ownership era. No Spa in 2028 & 2030.
January 9Jan 9 Def my favorite track. I first read it had been renewed and I was like, "yay!" Then I read they're skipping 2028 and 2030 and I was like, "boo!"
January 9Jan 9 Spa is at the top of my list to see a race, I think. This guarantees that my time, opportunity, & money graphs will meet perfectly, in '28 or '30. Fuckers.

I would love to do Suzuka, but convincing my lady to do Japan would be nigh impossible. Spa would be more doable, and while there, may as well visit the Nordschliefe. It's only like an hour and a half away.
January 9Jan 9 Yep. That's what I was telling y'all about a couple of weeks ago (per my 'friend who knows F1 things'. Hasn't failed me yet). Seems like Flav really likes him, and now he's apparently been confirmed with a multi-year deal, starting as a reserve in 2025: https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/43345899/alpine-adds-franco-colapinto-f1-reserve-driver-2025 This article also suggests that Doohan's contract is only confirmed through 6 races next year: https://www.planetf1.com/news/franco-colapinto-alpine-rumours-deleted-social-media-post Edited January 9Jan 9 by wood

I don't expect Doohan to get a full year, or even close to it.

January 15Jan 15 My boys decided to go hang in Montreal for a couple of days after skiing in Vermont. Texted me this today. Exit of the Hairpin, next to the gs I sat in on Saturday in 2010 ... Edited January 15Jan 15 by wood
January 21Jan 21 ‘Today we start a new era’ – Hamilton shares emotional message after ‘dream’ first appearance for Ferrari https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/i-couldnt-be-happier-hamilton-shares-emotional-message-after-dream-first.5A5w2BzhFcwZ07lEK6UBFA My friend who knows F1 things saw an article about this and texted me the photo below, along with a similar photo, taken of my friend in the late 80s when he was picking up a 328. Same spot. Similar pose. Next to an F40 pointed the opposite direction. But the F40 he was standing next to was the original prototype with the serial number 001. He also got to meet Enzo, who died about a year later. /csb Edited January 21Jan 21 by wood

January 24Jan 24 If it's for cussing on the radio during races, most of them are gonna go broke. I think half of Yuki's English vocabulary is cuss words. Edited January 24Jan 24 by kevwun
