June 29Jun 29 Author This is setting up for Lando to do the funniest thing possible and fumble this in a way we've never seen before...like it was written by Larry David Spoiler ...Or he's just going to dust the whole field, have a Max type race a few years ago and we see him like twice after the first three laps
June 29Jun 29 Imagine how wild it has to be to drive an entire lap with your breaks basically on.In other words... Mrs Ramjet forgetting to disengage the emergency brake.
June 29Jun 29 What a horrible start. I just left the hotel for the airport and will hopefully get to see some at Bush International

June 29Jun 29 It’s always dicey when the race leaders are trying to overtake lapped cars who are also fighting for points

June 29Jun 29 Credit to Lando, bouncing back from his fuck up last weekend with a flawless Austrian GP, leading every session. Previous seasons (and maybe earlier in this one) he’d have made a mistake when Oscar was piling on the pressure early. WDC gap is 16 heading to Silverstone, should be a fun one. I think McLaren is three points from doubling up on second-place Ferrari, 417-210 in the constructors standings.
June 29Jun 29 I think the main reason they are letting Norris and Piastri fight it out is because they aren't worried about a challenge from another team.
June 29Jun 29 At minimum, that's the third time a Mercedes' driver has taken out Max by Leeroy Jenkins'ing it on lap 1 in the past 4 years.
June 29Jun 29 Oscar lost his chance for a win on Saturday. Bad luck but with a second tier pit strategy he needed a miracle to win.

Some poetic justice in a young, overly aggressive driver wrecking out Max. Interesting stat, Red Bull is closer to Williams in points than they are to McLaren.

June 30Jun 30 JFC, someone please, please, please put a muzzle on Karun, FFS. I'm diggin' Bernie's makeover. Helluva nice race for Alonso. Much better outcome than I expected after FP. For once, strategy and the race worked in his favor. Edited June 30Jun 30 by wood

June 30Jun 30 Oh, one more thing re: the movie: Far too much Buxton. But then, for me, any Buxton is too much.

I am trying to decided is Doris Burke the Karun of college football announcers or is Karun the Doris Burke of racing commentators or are both complete dogshit and wish we would never hear from either. Agree on Bernie, wish she would have gotten some of that air time Karun filled with his rambling nonsense.

Yuiki is doing more damage in the back of the pack than Lance. There is a bit of karma for Max's dive bombing days and putting the divine wind in the second car.
June 30Jun 30 Those recovery vehicles seemed a tad aggressive particularly when picking up Max’s car. That car was swinging all over the place with Max and others were nearby.
June 30Jun 30 Speaking of that, did he have a broken rear axle or something? I never saw a good view of the damage on his car.

Yeah, one Bernie is worth about eleventy-bazillion Karuns. And once Martin is gone, Bernie should be on every single pit walk, with Ted, Naomi, or Simon, etc. I said a long time ago that the best grid walk would be Bernie & Ted. That went pretty well yesterday.

Because she loves the cringe.
July 2Jul 2 As usual, Fernando knows exactly what's happening out there. The tactical awareness is off the charts ... Quote “I never wanted to pass Liam at any point,” Alonso said. “I did a race as if it were a time trial on a bicycle. I just had to stay tucked in behind, take advantage of the three DRS straights, and then in the four corners in between push like it was qualifying to get back into the DRS. “I think I was about half a second behind Lawson and by staying close to him I was gaining half a second per lap. “In fact, they asked me: ‘When do we stop?’ and I replied: ‘When he stops!’ because I didn’t have that kind of pace.“I was basically an extension of Lawson and thanks to that, I finished in the points. We didn’t have the pace or strength to go ahead and overtake him.” ... and we all saw what happened as soon as he lost DRS with Lawson. https://www.planetf1.com/news/fernando-alonso-avoided-an-incident-in-untelevised-lewis-hamilton-battle-austria Edited July 2Jul 2 by wood

July 2Jul 2 It wouldn't shock me. He just needs a decent car to be in contention. It's pretty clear based on Laswson and Yuki's results that the Red Bull is in the bottom 3rd this year and the points finishes he gets are all because he's just that good. Edited July 2Jul 2 by kevwun
July 2Jul 2 2 hours ago, Lidig8r said: 1% only ? hmmmm... Makes perfect sense that if you are Max, do you trust Red Bull to put you in a competitive car next season? They lost serious brain power in Rob Marshall and Adrian Newey (who is a freaking design savant) and while Red Bull is making their PU's now, those are basically the Honda engine that they are manufacturing. How confident would any driver be if you are going into a phase of a new PU where the design now must pull 50% of the power from the battery side, one manufacturer has never truly designed a PU and their manufacturing partner is a company that hasn't been in F1 if 4 decades and hasn't exactly crushed battery design on their production cars.
July 2Jul 2 That doesn't even take in to account the shitshow of Horner vs Marko. If he's going to make a move, this would be a good time to do it. Edited July 2Jul 2 by kevwun
July 2Jul 2 If I'm Max, I would sign a one year deal with either Merc or Aston, depending on what he knows about the Honda engine for next year. That way he can see who has the best engine/car in 26 and flip to that team the following year. He's hands down the best driver, so almost any team would jump to have him in 27. If he goes to AM, I bet he tries to get Toto to only sign George for one more year, so the Merc seat will be open in 27.
