Yeah I think they brought him in too soon, but who could have predicted that? Oh, wait. I and many others did. Re: taking out Charles, think about this: Antonelli got the same penalty for that that Sainz got for minor contact that was really just a racing incident. Which is insane. Penalize positions, please, or at least allow more variance in the time penalties - 5s, 10s, 15s, DQ, etc.

I don't have much confidence in it's application though. I think that would be a nightmare by itself. They would have to come up with some black and white rules for it.

September 2Sep 2 A rough year for Albon? He's tied for 7th in points, even w/ 3 DNF, with almost 2x as many points scored as his past 3 years. Aside from the retirements, his results are almost on par with what he was putting up for Red Bull.

This is the quickest car he's had with Williams, but it hasn't been the easiest to drive, which is often the case. By 'rough', I was just referring to how smoothly the year seems to have gone for him so far, not his results so far. More about how hard he's had to fight to get them. 3 retirements in a row, etc. In the past it seemed like he had an easier time of getting the best he could get from worse cars.
September 3Sep 3 I just don't get Caddy's fascination with Herta, other than he's American. He's just not that good. He's not even the quickest American. If they must have an American, even Sargeant is quicker than Colton, and I'm sure the damage done to his confidence at Williams could be repaired. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/motor/2025/09/03/colton-herta-cadillac-f1-test-driver-indycar-formula-1-news-silly-season-rumors/85954333007/ Edited September 3Sep 3 by wood

Sargeant was never anything special and he’s not faster than Herta. Herta has some of the best raw speed in IndyCar. Andretti has fucked him over so many times and lost him a bunch of races and podiums. Herta’s also way better at road courses and street tracks, which obviously helps him in F1. I’m not saying he’s a star, but I think he’s the most promising American prospect and after Palou, him and O’Ward are on a similar tier as the most potential of any of the IndyCar guys. Edited September 3Sep 3 by NoName
September 3Sep 3 I mean, it’s just a test driver role. It’s an easy way to know if he’s potentially fast enough or not without actually giving him the seat.

Logan was the first American FIA karting world champ since Lake Speed. He was very quick in F1 testing before he made it there. Podium in almost every F4 race he drove. Fourth in Formula Renault with three wins. Lost the F3 title to teammate Piastri in the last race after being tied with him heading into it. He was punted out of the race on the first lap iirc. Lost in F2 to his teammate Lawson by one point despite having two more DNFs. Herta did a test with Mclaren at Portimao 3 years ago, but we didn't hear much about it afterward and that was the end of it iirc. Pato has driven multiple times for Mclaren since then and will drive again for them again in FP1 in Mexico this year. Sure, Albon beat Logan badly in a bad car, but in a good car, Albon is also absolutely destroying Sainz. I'd take Pato or McLaughlin or esp Palou over Herta any day, but they aren't Murcan, so ... It's more 'thinking little of Colton Herta'. I don't think they should put Logan in the car. Williams left him in that POS far too long and absolutely crushed him mentally. He's a shell now of what he was before he got into F1. I'm just saying they could do much better than putting Herta in that seat. ETA: BTW Logan just got an IMSA LMP2 ride for Indy & Petit LeMans. So that's pretty cool. Edited September 3Sep 3 by wood

September 4Sep 4 Yep, me too. Re: Piastri and Logan, while I was working outside earlier today I was thinking about their situations entering F1 and how well that sequence illustrates the importance of what seat you're in. Piastri was firmly on the road to that same Williams seat in 2023 that Logan ended up taking. Alpine dropped the ball on both Piastri and Alonso and they both jumped to greener pastures, as they should have. Logan's only real option to get into F1 at the time was Williams, and he took their offer, as he also should have. You never know if you'll get another F1 offer, so in F1, if you only have one offer, you'd better take it, even if it's with a backmarker. It didn't work out, which happens more often than not. Had Alpine not fucked up badly, Piastri would have gone to Williams on loan from Alpine, and who knows where, when, or even if Logan would have gotten into F1. But there's a decent chance he'd have ended up in a stronger ride than Williams. Instead, he went to Mclaren, and the rest is history. It would have gone very differently had Oscar gone to Williams and then Alpine, and he almost certainly wouldn't even be within shouting distance of a WDC.

He'll be a bit older when he finishes his stint in F2, and if he doesn't come away as a champion he might not get a seat. Meanwhile, I guess it's good optics for the American factory team. September 5Sep 5 He's still pretty young but I think Herta has already missed his window for an F1 chance. Coming up just short of the necessary super license points a couple of different times has kind of destroyed any momentum he had towards a seat.

September 6Sep 6 Williams talking all weekend about how fast they should be here and both drivers out in Q2. smh
September 6Sep 6 If you could just ignore the time that Max purposely crashed into Russell because his feelings were hurt, this season has been so fucking impressive for his image as a maturing great. Pulling polls out of his ass in a mid-pack car, setting track records to be on poll, Lap 1 brilliance when he's not on poll, holding up faster cars cleanly, showing patience and acceptance when it's not his day/year, etc. Ducks. Time for all of us to be totally honest and admit that anyone who watches racing hasn't had a moment we wish someone would crash into George after he got on the radio and starting his whiny bullshit.

September 7Sep 7 I hate to fucking admit it... Max is so damn good. He might be goat good.As long as there are no other cars around to dive bomb in a corner.
September 7Sep 7 It’s been awhile since anyone was able to pull away from the McLarens. I think Max is actually faster than them this weekend. Edited September 7Sep 7 by kevwun

Was just thinking the same thing. Tsunoda has been non-embarrassing this weekend too. Maybe Red Bull figured something out. Too little too late to compete for a WDC when the guys currently in first and second place still figure to both be on the podium every weekend, but it will at least make for some more competitive racing.
September 7Sep 7 I think alot of it is the track. As the announcers mentioned, there are no fast corners at Monza that the McLarens are so much better than everyone at. The Red Bull still has really good straight line speed. Edited September 7Sep 7 by kevwun

September 7Sep 7 Hahahahahaha Lando gonna be PISSED Gonna get feisty between them in these last few laps.Max throwing radio gasoline on the fire to boot.
September 7Sep 7 Piastri should have "new phone who dis" the team. Ridiculous they asked him to switch.
September 7Sep 7 It was because Norris let him pit first to stay ahead of LeClerc. It was fair. They let them race after and Norris was faster just like he was all race. Edited September 7Sep 7 by kevwun

Should have used the C6.
