September 23Sep 23 I know there's a lot of animosity towards him, but I'm fired up to see what Horner does next. He's got people throwing money at him to buy a team. Stoked to have another good team on the grid.

I am not sure if Adrian will be part of a team that wins more titles, but his resume is fairly strong without Christian and which team is going to let him control all aspects of the team.

There are all sorts of ways they could re-introduce some variability with tire choices alone, and in other areas too. But instead, they just do nothing, or go in the other direction.

September 25Sep 25 Toyota is already Haas's technical partner. I've been thinking for a while that Toyota will take a larger role in the team moving forward. That makes Horner's move there make some sense imho, if he is indeed headed there.
September 25Sep 25 Never happen, but if we wanted variability back: Drop all electrification and the weight and cost that comes with it. Reduce car size but at least 20% Bring back refueling

Bet we see Horner take an ownership stake like Toto. Honestly, I'm fine with it. They need to sell naming rights though, I fucking hate Haas. 5 hours ago, Hawndoh said: Never happen, but if we wanted variability back: Drop all electrification and the weight and cost that comes with it. Yeah I hate that fucker too, but the only reason he's in F1 at all is to sell Haas machine tools to a broader, more international market and to network in the paddock. IMHO as long as he's the owner, 'Haas' will be on the cars.

All the crew wear fire retardant suits with extinguishers nearby and tons of other racing series, like WEC and IndyCar, have refueling without anyone dying or getting severely burned. There's no reason to think someone would die from it.

Only see downsides. What's the upside? Strategy? If there's a 0.01% chance of it happening, why risk it?

I’ve gone back and watched F1 when it had refueling and it seemed to minimize the on track racing. It would make the cars lighter, but not significantly enough to have much effect. IMO

IMO It was always very intriguing strategy-wise, trying to discern what fuel strategies people were on, etc, but there wasn't a lot of passing on the track. The mistake I think many people make in that regard though (not y'all) is just assuming that the presence of refueling was the primary driver of the lack of passing. It was a completely different formula with super-durable tires that lasted a full race. Currently there wouldn't be much passing without DRS, either. In the refueling era they had no DRS but had the same problems following closely. Probably worse in that regard. I dunno if refueling would help with variability in the current F1 world. It might, or might not, but the automatic assumptions that many people make about its effect on the racing are overly simplistic imho. There are so many factors to consider. One way it could help with variability would be when some cars at the start of the race are fueled heavy to go further without stopping, vs others that fueled very light to stop sooner, creating performance differences among the cars on the track. I’m not against it, but I’m also not convinced it would fix fundamental problems with the regs or cars either.
September 27Sep 27 As long as the cars can't follow each other closer than a second without it impacting performance, any other changes aren't going to matter much. Edited September 27Sep 27 by kevwun
September 30Sep 30 Max wins at Nordschleife Gee, what did you do on your week off Max? Curious if one of the reasons Max stayed at Red Bull is that they won't stop him from doing these types of races during the F1 season.
September 30Sep 30 An F1 pet has passed away. Rosco had got pneumonia and died over the weekend. It was cool seeing him at races.

September 30Sep 30 I always thought the "Michael Jordan plays basketball better than anyone in the world does anything" quote was a little silly and (obviously) hyperbolic. ...but we at least have to be approaching that territory with Max and race cars.
September 30Sep 30 My kid was telling me that Max recruited some online sim racer kid as his teammate for that race. Pretty wild. I think we'll probably see Alonso back in endurance racing before he's done driving. At least I hope so. Some of his endurance drives have been pretty epic. The night stint at Le Mans that turned the race back to Toyota, the rain stint at Daytona, coming from behind to win, etc. If he ever goes back to Daytona or Indy, I am 100% going to be there for it. Maybe even Le Mans. We were talking the other day about the potential for a Le Mans driver lineup that included Alonso and Max on the same team. Then I threw Lewis in there as well. I dunno if Lewis has any desire to do endurance races, but can you just imagine those three in a top car?

I was listening to a podcast and part of the discussion was that Max truly wants to build a top flight endurance team with his racing team and not simply have his name on a team. Makes perfect sense and he wanted to do this enough that he actually went through the qualifying process to get his license to compete in endurance racing.
October 1Oct 1 Singapore under water today. This keeps up and it'll be a long, and probably very expensive, weekend. In other news, the Williams garage loves Austin.
October 3Oct 3 Norris into the pit wall, hit by LeClerc. Lol, rush hour traffic racing to get out for practice
October 4Oct 4 Sam has a lot of problems getting into the pits. He’s a big fan of coming in too fast and then locking up his tires.
October 4Oct 4 The McLaren sphincters are officially puckering I think. Russell and Max are both faster in Singapore. Edited October 4Oct 4 by kevwun
October 4Oct 4 This might be the best possible qualifying for non-papa race fans. Lando and Oscar can fit for third place, Max can try to win yet another race and push for a possible 5th title, and the only driver crazy enough to possibly beat Max to the corner is George. Perfect first lap would be Max and George collide in the first turn, Oscar and Lando were taken out by the shreds of carbon fiber spread across the track, and Crofty dies of a stroke screaming while trying to describe all that on BBC. One question from qualifying, how long until we hear for a restraining order against the Sky Sport cameraman who stalks Rebecca Donaldson each broadcast?
October 4Oct 4 Max is going to bully that pussy George at lights out and have a chance to go wire to wire.

October 5Oct 5 This is the first time in 10 years (besides the covid years) that I'm missing the race. Singapore was the 2nd longest place I've lived and I miss it (especially this week). But I'll be in Austin (first longest place I've lived) in a few weeks for the race.
October 5Oct 5 Short of a mechanical issue or putting his car in to the wall, nobody’s catching George today.
October 5Oct 5 Extremely boring race so far. I don’t think there has been a single overtake outside of a couple at the start.
October 5Oct 5 Norris like me in video games on lap one. Runs into the back of Verstappen and used Oscar as wall to make the corner and the pass. Job done. Lol Should have been a penalty
October 5Oct 5 Gloves off for Oscar. If porn stache hobbit tries it again he will put him in the wall.
October 5Oct 5 What shit coverage One pass in the top 8 after the first lap and they show the diver view 20 minutes after it happened Then don't show any of Alonso catching Hamilton at the end
October 5Oct 5 Following the Italian GP, Piastri was up 31pts on Lando and 94pts on Max. Following the Singapore GP, Piastri is up 22pts on Lando and 63pts on Max. 6 races to go.

Things will get very interesting in the paddock if that lead gets below 10 points.
