March 17Mar 17 I don't know if it's just having not seen a race in a while but me and the kiddo really enjoyed the race. They should station fire trucks around the races and randomly have them soak the track for some of the boring circuits. As a mercedes fan such weird mixed emotions for LH. Kinda want to root for him but kinda not. Him on the radio reminded me of a few weeks ago when I hurt my leg and just wanted to be left alone and my wife kept nagging me about not putting my leg in the correct position when I was moving it to the position that was most pain free and got really really mad when I wouldn't move it the way she told me to. Should be a fun season with at least 4 teams being competitive and a few of the shit teams being able to get drivers into the top 10.

Bernie used to say they should have sprinklers lining the tracks that would just activate randomly.

March 17Mar 17 Coolest part was seeing 7 different constructors in the 1st 8 spots at the end. I know there was chaos, and not entirely indicative of future results, but that points to a fun season.

March 17Mar 17 I watched yesterday afternoon after I returned from the Big East Tournament and one the best things I took away from the race was that Ferrari communications this year are going to be extremely entertaining. Between Hamilton's telling them to be quiet and Charles & the water, too funny.

Thick-accented, monotone Ferrari engineers vs. Lewis never, ever, ever missing an opportunity to remind his team, "I told you so."

March 21Mar 21 FYI I dunno if y'all heard a few weeks ago about Eddie Jordan's illness. Welp, today, he passed away. RIP, Eddie. Eddie represented imho a lot of the bad boy, renegade, underdog image that made F1 great and what I wish it could claw back a bit of. And he always made time for F1 fans. Here's a pic of him I shot in front of the podium in Austin in 2012.
March 21Mar 21 Lawson was dead fucking last in Sprint qualifying. How long until Yuki takes over his seat?
March 21Mar 21 Lewis was on it all quali. Great job by him. He deserved pole. McLaren looked to have the best pace, but neither of their drivers could pull out the lap like Lewis and Max did. McLaren had way less deg than Ferrari and RB in practice, and their second runs on the same tires in quali were faster than everyone else by a good bit. I'm expecting they'll be quite a bit better in the race than everyone else. Lando probably can't win the sprint from 5th unless he gets a great start, but Lewis will need Max to fight Oscar hard. If Oscar gets past Max early, he's got a great shot at winning the sprint.

March 22Mar 22 Holy shit, Lawson. P20 in Q1 without any perceivable issues? What's the shortest time a driver has been fired?
March 22Mar 22 4 minutes ago, Fastbreak said: Lawson last again. I assume Red Bull has Ricardo on the phone? They'd call Sergio way before Daniel, not to be a dick. Yuki's gotta be licking his chops though.
March 22Mar 22 “Antonelli, the young 18 year-old.” Not “the middle-aged 18 year-old” or “the old 18 year-old”?

March 22Mar 22 Until someone in the second seat finishes 2nd or 3rd in the championship, everyone can STFU about checos struggles last year. Puta leyenda.
March 22Mar 22 I’m convinced it’s the car and Red Bull and not the second drivers. RedBull went all in on Max and it paid off for a while, but now it’s going to cost them.

So everything is hypersensitive and puts the drivers under stress for not knowing how the hell to control the car and then they just see max get away from them race after race (then doesn’t help to have a fuck head like Helmet Marko saying stupid shit all the time publicly). So the fact checo was able to produce 2nd and 3rd under that type of situation (and even prior to that drive decently in piece of shit cars says a ton about checos ability)…but yeah he sucks ass…(yes checo being backed by fuck you money helped to stick around…but not even academy drivers can tame that second seat).13 year F1 career…

They're building the fastest car they can possibly build, and generally a very oversteery or 'pointy' car is faster than a neutral or understeery car, all other things being equal. The less 'stable' the car is, the easier it is to get the car to 'rotate' or turn, and the more performance potential it generally has. The problem for some drivers is that they can't handle a lot of oversteer, even in F1. Meanwhile guys like Max, Lewis, Alonso, Schumi, Senna, and other elites can adapt to and handle pretty much anything the engineers can throw at em. Guys like that with virtually limitless windows always hear the complaints about the car 'being built for them'. The reality is that the engineers just build it to be as quick as possible and the elite drivers are just aliens who are able to handle it better, while their teammates with much smaller windows can't adapt so well. Then as the season progresses, the quicker driver always gets upgrades first, etc. Every team on the grid does the same thing. It sucks to be #2 on the team with any of the GOATs on the other side of the garage. Oh, and re: Checo's career, today I asked my buddy who knows F1 things (who knows the Slims and the Andrettis and is the guy who gave us the signed Checo prints the winter before Checo's first year in F1) whether Checo could end up at Cadillac. His answer was a simple 'yes'. So it sounds like he's at least under consideration. Edited March 23Mar 23 by wood
March 23Mar 23 Oh absolutely.I’m sure Cadillac is already forecasting how much money they’ll have with Checo. Can you imagine Checo and Sainz at Cadillac while Cadillac establishes a young drivers pipeline (plus Sainz has like another 6-7 years in him, lol)? The stupid amounts of $$$ the Latin America markets would bring for Cadillac (and F1) would be astronomical.

It would be cool, for sure, but I think Sainz will stay put with Audi coming ... and Cadillac seems to be head over heels in love with Herta. For whatever reason. I don't get it. Dude is mediocre imho, even in IndyCar. They have far better options right under their noses in IndyCar imho. Edited March 23Mar 23 by wood
