December 20, 20241 yr I’m very excited about this game but I’m curious about how much interest there is around the country and with casual fans. Obviously it’s huge in Indiana. I spent my adolescence in northern Indiana about 30 miles from South Bend so I learned to hate Notre Dame, and Notre Dame fans, at an early age. I’m a Big Ten fan and I’ve been following (and profiting from) the Hoosiers’ history-making journey all season long. It’s complicated because my feelings about ND have softened since former Buckeye Marcus Freeman took over the coaching job. I have a lot of reasons to be interested in the game. Obviously the Fighting Irish have a huge national fanbase. The Hoosiers don’t. My assumption is that this game doesn’t seem all that sexy to the casual fan. But I don’t know. Is this something people are looking forward to or is it something they might watch just because it’s on, otherwise most people just assume that naturally ND will crush IU and they’re waiting to see what happens in the games tomorrow?

December 20, 20241 yr Snow is supposed to be over well before noon. Supposed to be but, we’ll see. It will be in the 20s though, so pretty cold.

December 20, 20241 yr This is gonna be an air raid in the snow. It's gonna be awesome. I don't think either team is gonna try to run the ball to win a grinder.

December 20, 20241 yr Still think this playoff format is stupid. We should have had an 8 team playoff with Indiana v. Oregon & Notre Dame v. Penn State. With that said I expect IU to cover and I think they could win if they tighten up the gaffes from Columbus. Think imma is a wee bit off on the score prediction lol. December 20, 20241 yr I can only pray that the Golden Domers... cry like Aggies at the end of this one...
December 20, 20241 yr Do they have their gomers 4 domers shirts printed up? They need that moral victory for Elko's first game as aag head corch.

December 20, 20241 yr Fuck Notre Dame, always. I hope they lose by 100. But I don't think Indiana is one of the best 12 teams in the country, either. If they lose bigly, I hope there is going to be a lot of discussion about their worthiness in the field, especially considering their nonconference schedule.
December 20, 20241 yr Note Dame can get fucked. Losing to Northern Illinois at home should have been an automatic disqualification. Indiana by 100.
December 20, 20241 yr I hate Notre Dame too, but the only other team IU played that had an equivalent defense (Ohio State) shut them down (151 total yards). Line is down to -6.5 which is interesting. One unit play on ND and may splash some ND alt line like -16.5 or -19.5.
December 20, 20241 yr This is going to be a Big X child abuse (no-one knows child abuse like the Big X) ND 35-Hoosiers 3
December 20, 20241 yr This game is going to be way closer than people think. I could easily see IU winning this one. Teams are very even. Most of IU's season stats on offense and defense are better. They've also played a harder schedule. I am torn. I think Riley is the difference maker though. Notre Dame 27 Indiana 23
December 20, 20241 yr I ‘member when a vocal surly contingent was gaslighting us into believing Indiana would beat Ohio State

They are really good against the run. I really think this is gonna be a toss up game.

December 20, 20241 yr Weather will be a non factor in this game. The weather game is tomorrow in State College - 25 degrees for the hight but with 25 mph winds. I tend to think ND covers and wins fairly easily. Something like ND 27 IU 13.
December 20, 20241 yr I like IU, wish I was in a sportsbook to put down on the ML. This is the postseason and ND, I don't give a fuck if they are at home, it's a weak home field. IU has played some good ball, better than any team ND has faced. ND struggled, albeit at the beginning of the season, against an average overrated aggy football team. Lost at home to NIU and then played absolutely nobody the rest of the way. I think IU's bad game at tOSU helps them better prepare for this game.

December 20, 20241 yr Sagarin says ND by 8-10 (depending on whether you call South Bend "home field"). Sagarin can get fucked. Go Hoosiers.

December 20, 20241 yr I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. ND didn’t play a world beater schedule but they played one that is way better than IU’s.

December 20, 20241 yr Go Indiana, Go SMU, Go Texas, Go "throws up in mouth" OSU.* *Still have an insane hatred for SEC outside of Texas.
December 20, 20241 yr I've watched a couple ND games this year: aTm, part of NIU, Purdue, some of GT, Navy, and USC. Similarly, I have watched some IU games this year: Michigan, tOSU, and some of Purdue. I cannot really tell if either of these teams is any good. ND's SOS is 64. IU's is 74. Fwiw, IU got whipped by tOSU, but tOSU also had TD drives with short fields due to IU's inferior special teams play. That said, IU has a statistically good rush defense for a reason: they played teams with crappy run offenses. Given each team has at least 12 games under its belt, rush offense rankings have some meaning. The best running team IU played was tOSU, ranked 52. 6 of their opponents were not in the top-100. 3 more were in the 90s. Early in the year, you could say "because of their defense" - now, it is because they played crappy running teams. What I find interesting is that UND is only -6.5. Some predictors - based on computer models - would have them as -8 on a neutral site, placing them at -11 since it is a home game. Perhaps the cold weather is causing the derate, or lack of confidence in their ability to blow someone out, or heavy money on IU. I see this as an entertaining game, and will be cheering for IU. I hope they win by 10+
December 20, 20241 yr Despise ND and most of their uniforms suck dead bear, despite having some of the easiest colors to show off, but these are sweet.

Adding a 4th big ten school to play when they already had a full slate of major conference games didn't seem that important Indiana has almost always been a very poor football program. They literally used to sell football home games to other teams to fund the basketball program. Notre Dame would have gained nothing by regularly scheduling them Their fans share no animosity or ill will to each other. As others have said, most of the non-college affiliated fans in the state cheer for BOTH Indiana basketball and Notre Dame football
December 20, 20241 yr Would love to see the Hoosiers win, but I just don't see it against the ND defense in the snow.

My response was to the comment before mine that mentioned it being a snow game and that the snow was supposed to stop and it would just be cold, not snowing. I didn’t say anyone would be bothered by the cold, that it would be cold.
December 20, 20241 yr I’m going to root for IU. I have no idea if they can beat them. I’ve had a lot of fun weekends at ND back when we were in school. Never been to IU but, have cousins who went there and who swam for the Hoosiers. So, I’m all in for IU.
December 20, 20241 yr 2 most overrated teams in the entire playoff. Notre Dame wins a close game tonight against an Indiana team that shouldn’t be here. When Notre Dame plays Georgia, we get to see the standard ND blowout loss to end their season.
