  • I admire the talent that's been built up in Austin, but I honestly think ASU has got you beat. Unless you're talking about football players.  Then Texas comes out on top.

  • If y'all want to make this an OnlyFans girl battle instead of a football game, ASU is going to kick your fucking ass.

  • They allowed Josh Heupel at Ohio State's stadium. I don't see the distinction.

Win or lose, there’s about 3-4 plays that’ll be shit bc QE hold onto the ball too long, doesn’t step up in the pocket, and takes a drive killing sack.

It’s like you actually watch the games or something…,

I don’t know much about the Big 12. Don’t they call it the Big Dumpster Fire? You can’t compare it to elite SEC teams like Texas A&M University. That school plays tough, SEC-styled football which in the best conference. And when an SEC teams inevitably wins the national championship, they feel pride to be in the same conference. That’s pretty badass.

If we can figure out a way to win the whole thing, it will be amazing to watch aggy try to rationalize it away.

The bye is obviously an advantage, but we had 2 weeks to rest before the Clemson game and 1.5 feels before ASU.  I wonder if ASU will come out cold after so much time off.

Fun fact, we've only played Arizona State once. The 2007 Holiday Bowl which we won 52-34. Another fun fact, Shaggybevo started up around that time, mostly in anger over how terrible the Texas football season had gone under Mack and Hornfans iron fist that suppressed any anger over said terrible season.

I would like to know what happened to our pass rush in the second half. It just evaporated.

this

before re-watching it my impression is pk decided to rush 4 and 4 only and we still got beat on perfect un-defensible boundary throws regardless of distance

klubnik might be a first night pick if he declares

he's ready

also, our secondary were not set on several plays and chewing at each other out of frustration after several plays - haven't seen that this year - looking forward to breakdown of what caused this

Their coaching staff does have a few recognizable names.

Hines Ward - WR - glad to see his CTE has not yet kicked in.  Bryan Carrington - our favorite former Texas recruiting specialist - is ASU's CB coach.  Wonder if he has reached Jay Valai level of competency yet.

Their OC was HC at UNLV (7-23) before Odom (who was 19-8).  Their DC was at Washington State and Nevada before joining ASU.

It makes sense why they were picked low in the Big12.  35/44 of the 2-deep from their 3-9 team was returning.

Dillingham is a fantastic coach. He really worked wonders this season to win the conference. You listen to him talk and you can see why his players enjoy playing for him so much. I stated this a few weeks ago, but there is no reason ASU should not be in the conference championship game on a regular basis. It’s one of the few schools in the conference in a major metro area. If they are willing to spend money on players it should not be an issue being good year after year in the Big 12.

Was at that game as I lived in So Cal for 18 years. Thank God that era of 8-4 Mack Brown place sitters is over and saw to many Holiday Bowl games with Texas in attendance

FPI is predictive, not a description of merit.   If you wanted to know there are more 4 and 5 stars in the SEC, you don't need a stat. I'm not very familiar with FEI,  I'm going to go out on a limb and guess FEI, like FPI, integrates talent composite.

Also, those games weren't all that close.  ASU had 3 score leads in the 2nd half of every game.  They opted to get cute (and almost screwed themselves) against BYU instead of scoring again when it was 1st and goal from the 4, annihilated Iowa State and were up 24-0 and coasting against K State.

Like I do agree Texas has a likely much stronger roster and there's a great chance the Horns roll ASU, but pretending ASU hasn't played anyone is silly.

All this really proves is that a decent power run scheme will decimate that stupid 3-3-5 bullshit that every team in the B12 runs. We figured that out last year.

We then went on to so many Alamo Bowls under Mack after the Holiday Bowl changed their conference tie that I honestly forgot that game was at the Holiday Bowl. I thought it was an Alamo Bowl game which is probably me confusing it with when we played Oregon State or Iowa there.

I was livid when Sark chose to go for it. It gives the other side a chance for celebration and rejuvenation. The UH game is the perfect example. There are, of course, other examples in Sark's tenure and Herman's.

I think the decision this time is mitigated by the poor performance of Auburn. That mitigates the decision, but does not fully justify it.

Sometimes, I think head coaches get too tied up in the math of the score. Going for it yesterday may have been the best chance to score, but the risk was the victory the other team may get when they are on the ropes. Missing a field goal is a relief to the other side rather than a victory.

I still think Sark should have kicked, but this decision wasn't as stupid as other times. I still think Sark is learning.  He went with the running game yesterday. He blamed himself for not doing so more often in the past.

I admire cold self-assessment in anyone. It's not easy when the world is celebrating your success. I really like our coach.

I’m as down on Bert as anyone but he’s 9/9 inside 40 yards this year and that would have been 34 yards. It also would have extended the lead to 3 possessions just like a TD would have. You kick it.

I think it worked like once early in the season and the last 3-4 times have been disasters.

It's worked a ton over Sark's tenure.  Many college and nfl teams have copied it.  Google Sark screen.  But lately teams finally seem ready for the misdirection and we aren't blocking it worth a shit.

Maybe we should just hand it off to the first guy in the sequence?

We just need to add another fake.  After the spin QE should pump fake to the receiver behind the line and then spin again and pass it a receiver behind the line on the other side

The same time the Peach Bowl always is? Every year? Peach gets the early, Rose is the afternoon, Sugar is the night

I'm happy about the kickoff time. I think Sark is too. He mentions quite often they prefer early games in regards to game day preparation.

Noon is great. We watch our game and then get two more great matchups to close the day out.

Based on Ewers's excellent checks into the Blue touchdown runs yesterday, he should probably just pick whatever play he wants and audible out of the Bundlé Savé play anytime Sarkisian calls it.

Audibling out of the plays like that also defeats the other team listening in on the unencrypted radio communications from Sark to QE for the other team to know what play was called beforehand.

Believe that was the game Mack’s stepson touched a live ball in the field of play negating a chance at a fumble recovery.  Game was out hand at that point.

ASU was talking a lot of shit leading up to that game.  I seem to recall they were a fringe top 10 team that year.

The 1-4 seeds are all underdogs.  Actually crazy.

Odd. Pictures of said Sister or her coed students not showing up. Must be my browser.

Lived in Phx for the last 25 years. Know a bunch of ASU people. They’re generally good people, not at all like aggy or tech fans.

I suspect ASU will do a little better than most people on this board expect. And the RB Skattebo is very much legit. But in the end Texas will be too much.

All my ASU friends will be sad. But that’s just how it is.

You can console the hot ones and post pictures. We won't judge.

Also I checked flights from Phx to ATL for this game. Prices through the roof. Guessing tickets were bought up by ASU fans. Probably lots of pent up demand since they’ve really never been anywhere ever.

Could be a lopsided crowd.

"We just need to add another fake.  After the spin QE should pump fake to the receiver behind the line and then spin again and pass it a receiver behind the line on the other side"

Just run this play on third and 15 every time, I mean EVERY time. (ducking behind my chair, as the inbound hatred abounds).  I do agree however I never want to see this play again.

You can console the hot ones and post pictures. We won't judge.

Well they are probably the kids of my friends so I’ll probably steer clear

I'd imagine their ACC (and partial SEC) tie-ins had something to do with that.

We've had the best odds since the bracket was announced. This doesn't change anything. It just says everything went as anticipated in the first round.

And the winner of the Ohio State v Oregon game will almost assuredly have the best odds after the quarterfinals are played.  That games a toss up.  Ours isn’t.  I’d be shocked if we were still betting favorite after the quarterfinals

Sure but historically it seems a weird one not to have played in since we played in the Sugar and Orange Bowls before.

Their crowd at the big 12 championship was terrible. I don’t think of ASU as a traveling fanbase

Will say it again: Sark please shelve the play where Ewers fakes a hand off then spins around and throws to opposite side like six yds behind LOS?

The fucking play never works. It takes too long. Every team knows what it is. Today it knocked out Wisner and Majors and lost sic yds.

Take that stupid fucking play off the play sheet and burn it.

We all hate the play but if goosby blocks that lb that would of been a big play or touchdown

Maybe but the play takes way too long to develop and it seems like every team Texas plays has that play nailed. Worked one game and Sark has stubbornly stuck with it and it’s a pick six waiting to happen

They’re not and they don’t have many of the kind of wealthy alumni that support athletics in a big time way.

2 hours ago, Reynolds Woodcock said:

Were you similarly livid when Sark went for it on the first drive from essentially the same spot and we scored 7?

No. Because down by 7 and up by 14 are two very different scenarios

The FG would have put us at as many points as they eventually scored. So kick that FG and never score again and we still go to OT.

Idiotic to not take the points
