Tried to keep it to two per decade of rawk from the 50s through 2010s. I don't feel like we've had any great all time rockers make the list in the 2020s, plus we don't have the benefit of time to look back. With that context: Maybellene - Chuck Berry Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones Revolution (Single version) - The Beatles Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin Back in Black - AC/DC Debaser - Pixies Panama - Van Halen Kiss Off - Violent Femmes Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana Seven Nation Army - White Stripes I had to kick off some of my personal favorite rockers as follows: Rave On - Buddy Holly Whole Lotta Shakin - The Killer Tutti Frutti - Little Richard Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young Are you Gonna Go My way - Lenny Outtasite (Outta Mind) - Wilco Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet Man there are just tons of good rockers that could've made the list. Oh and I repped this one and meant to comment. Very cool list - love Debaser being included. Such a perfect punk rock song. And Seven Nation Army should deserve some love at least for how ubiquitous it became at sporting events - even on other continents.

I'm not sure which side of this argument I'm on, but let me just go on record as saying I love (AC/DC's) "You Shook Me All Night Long". I posted Celine because it's so incredibly cringe-inducing. As I said from the jump, my tastes are impeccably mainstream.

They have some great stuff but they aren’t kings like the Beatles, Stones or Led Zeppelin. They remind me of Foo Fighters. I’ve seen them a couple times, great shows. I don’t often turn their stuff off if they come on the radio. But I don’t usually go looking for it either.Except “Everlong.” That’s a bad ass real song right there.

For me, the Foos are hard-wired into my soul. I was (am) a huge Nirvana fan, and I loved the first Foos (solo) album. I caught Dave's first tour, and that hooked me for a couple of decades. Very pure, high energy, singular songwriting.

January 29Jan 29 Even the late stage FF albums have killer song or two, generally. Christ, the last one was actually really good.
January 29Jan 29 Monkey Wrench is a decent tune. This is a Call is same boat as Everlong for me. The songs just don't go anywhere. They really didn't hit their come around until Nothing Left To Lose for me, and really got to be mature with Sonic Highways.

It's got Congregation on it, which is a top 5 Foo song I'd say. Add in St Cecilia, Learn to Fly, Times Like These and Long Road to Ruin and that is the best of the FF in terms of songwriting.

January 29Jan 29 Sonic Highways seems like a miss in hindsight. I haven’t reached for it in years. Of course, it got stuck in the CD player of my old truck for like 6 months, so I’ve probably heard it as much as I’ll ever need to.

January 29Jan 29 All the obvious choices have already been taken, so I tried to do an alt version. Search and Destroy - Iggy & The Stooges (I prefer Iggy mix to Bowie mix) Roadrunner - The Modern Lovers Teen Age Riot - Sonic Youth See No Evil - Television Bodysnatchers - Radiohead Ghost Rider - Suicide The One I Love - R.E.M. Waiting Room - Fugazi Gloria - Patti Smith version Wolf Like Me - TV On The Radio Edited January 30Jan 30 by Reynolds Woodcock
January 30Jan 30 I keep thinking Wasting Light is going to be the Foo's Some Girls. It is going to be the last really great Foo album. Really good bands seem to have at about tops a 15 year run of very good to great. I have definitely liked a few songs off the newer albums but that stuff pales in comparison IMO to everything up through wasting light(yes Sonic Highways was just OK). That said, I always look forward to a new Foo album and I will be surprised if there aren't 2 or 3 songs i like on them. The last album Nothing at All and Under You are very good songs.

January 31Jan 31 Did this exercise with some friends recently. This is what I came up with:Top 10 in no particular order 1. Wildflowers (Petty)2. Let it Loose (Stones)3. Who (David Byrne and St. Vincent)4. My Old School (Steely Dan)5. You Could Be a Star (Prince)6. He's Misstra Know-It-All (Stevie Wonder)7. Life During Wartime (Naive Melody) (Talking Heads)8. Last Tube (Trey Anastasio)9. Hold On, I'm Coming (Sam & Dave)10. Atlantic City (The Band)Honorable MentionStay with Me (The Faces)
January 31Jan 31 I mean. You're entitled to your opinions. Well, they're 100% correct and paid for, so I'll keep emAlso, I could probably replace any single in the list with another song on this list with another song by the same band.

January 31Jan 31 I couldn't finish my list initially because I was giving to much deference to old music. So, I just went with songs I revisit the most often. Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter Black Sabbath - Paranoid Roky Erickson - A Cold Night for Alligators Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend Pearl Jam - Alive Bernard Butler - I'd Do It Again If I Could Pavement - The Unseen Power of the Picket Fence PJ Harvey - A Place Called Home The Cure - From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Refused - New Noise
