I had planned to go to galveston to look for kings and rattlesnakes, but the rain stopped me.  Still came up with a few today.  Speckled Kingsnake, Yellowbellied Racer and a couple of huge Texas Ratsnakes.

Awesome ratsnake SurlyBDR. Well, it was a very active day out in the Katy Prairie.  I figured it would be a good day to go with all the rain that we had, but wasn't expecting all the flooding.  I

I thought I was going to find a bunch of cool snakes today.  Only saw two ribbon snakes.  However, one was being eaten by a hawk, so that is pretty cool.  Not the best or sharpest shots, but still coo

I want that king. Wish he was there when you went back. I went by that place you pinned for me in Galveston yesterday, but I didn’t have time to really look for very long. Definitely going back when I’ve got more time.

Reimer's Ranch this morning.  He didn't rattle and Biff basically stepped on him, but luckily I was able to pull him back before the snek struck.  We did not continue on the trail.

Love speckled kingsnakes. Thanks for sharing.

Saw a Western Racer on Thursday's ride. Stopped to get a pic but it up and skeedaddled. Never been able to snap a shot of a racer; they always live up to their name.

Neighbor posted a pic of a copperhead on Nextdoor.

A spot that was told about by a herper. It’s mostly a bunch of boards and stuff behind some abandoned structures kind of in the middle of the island.

Lots and lots of these sneks in the dunes......

There are.  I used to teal hunt down by Bryan beach in high school. I have a pic somewhere of 3 5’+ rattlesnakes killed during one hunt. Every damn one of them was on the walking path from the truck to the tank.

Had a ribbon snake about 18" to 24" stuck on a glue trap in my garage.  He dead.

Found this guy hanging out under some patio rocks.

Nah, it was maybe 5” long and chill. The lack of a triangular head and slit eyes = I let him go and bade him eat some vermin or whatnot in my backyard.

Man, don't use glue traps.  That's fucked up.

That’s what I was thinking too. Got to love a snek who’s primary diet is rattlers.

More like Surly overachiever.

Not really it keeps things like snakes and mice out of my garage.  I personally don't want snakes and mice in my garage, but maybe some people do.

Just saying you could use traps that are more humane.  But you do you man.  I'm just a guy on the internet.  This world is fucked up enough as it is.

Had a decent sized moccasin slide off the drive into parents tank yesterday as I walked by.  He looked to have been well fed, lots of bullfrogs I’m sure.  Slid right back out into the reeds and sat about 2’ off the water.  Too many grandkids around, will get the .410 treatment at some point.

Almost hit a large coachwhip in the neighborhood yesterday. Go the truck stopped and jumped out to grab it but made it into a jasmine bush before I could get a hand on it. They are one fast moving snake.

These guys were hanging out on my parent’s home.
Will snek be nearby?

This morning, other end of the same street, 4 foot rat snake, couldn’t stop in time but missed him, hopped out but he gone.

I dunno about their relevance to snek population but those things are badass. We had a fat one on our porch for a couple years that we actually gave a name to. Mofo ate a TON of bugs.

Texas Spiny Lizards.  They usually have bright blue scales on their bellies.  Fuckers can move pretty damn quick.

Except when the fuckers are actually fucking, as was the case with these green anoles.

I have several living around my compost pile, and a rat snek under my wood pile that’s about 12 feet away. Snek doesn’t seem to mess with lezerd

I have one resident lizard like that. Scared the shit out of me when I sat down on patio sofa and he was hanging out on the cushion edge and went crazy. See him every few days. He's cool but pretty sure he's the one crawling in my grill and leaving little shit pellets to cook on. Not cool...

Meet my new friend. Western Coachwhip (?) chilling in the firepit of la casita. Curled up a lot, but I bet he was 6-7 foot.

Where are you? That’s one photogenic coachwhip. Actually would be cool to get a macro shot of those scales. Very cool.
