Y'all realize he broke a record, right?

Ok, makes a little more sense. I'm almost certain the coaches had the discussion well before kickoff that if he got the record he'd sit. No way he just up and told the coaches he was done in a halftime surprise.

I’m here for the fever dream toasting and eating of the mascot

Fun game but Ward opting out at halftime was bush league.

That TD record wasn't gonna break itself, tho.

I'm disappointed that there hasn't been a camera trained on Cam Ward the entire final drive and in the immediate aftermath of the loss.

I hope his draft position is affected.

Yeah, nobody would be selfish, putting self above team.

Cam ward gonna be the talk of the week

The debate is going to fun. Cam is a quitter, the non-playoff bowls are irrelevant, college football is broken…yada, yada

What record did he set?

What record did he get?

Did Cristobal say Ward decided at halftime to not play 2nd half?  This seems preplanned.

I didn’t catch that. Did that happen? I see fans saying he quit. I don’t see official reporting that he quit. I wasn’t focused on the tv during halftime.

Most TD passes in a career.

Keenum still owns all time passing yards. I was there at the game in 2011 when he broke the record

OK, the PopTarts inserted into the trophy is pretty funny.

Funny that pop tarts has cracked the code of not having their trophy presentation relegated to the capital one postgame show on the app

Iowa State guys played to the end, even though they ruined their original jerseys in the wash and had to buy generic uniforms on eBay before the game started.

I freaking love this bowl and the Cheez-Its bowl

I still think its bizarre when fans lament players making "business decisions" as though there is anything more than that left in this game. It is literally a multi-billion dollar business. Everything that has happened over the last 20 years has been purely business. Give me a break. I'm fine with players protecting their health. Why risk losing life changing wealth so a toaster trophy can end up in a trophy case somewhere on campus?

Bro. The Pop Tart Bowl is serious.

So they're counting his 71 TDs in 2 years at Incarnate Word count toward that?  Seems pretty bullshit.

Oh man, I came back from the grocery just long enough to see baby corn score and some unknown quarterback at Miami not get it done.

God, do I love the Co-canes losing.  I can’t wait to see FSU in their bowl and whether they’ll…..oh that’s right.  They won only two games.

The anthropomorphized Pop-Tarts are kind of terrifying, actually

I recognize the hypocrisy, but I think it's bullshit that he played long enough to get the record and then shut it down.

You want the record? Play the whole fucking game with the teammates who helped you break it in the first place.

Want to avoid risk of injury? Don't play at all, and announce it ahead of time like everyone else does.

I mean, they counted Case Keenum's.

i agree with everything you said...

and if he had sat out the whole game, I would have supported him no issue.

hell if he sat out the entire 2nd half and then came back for the final drive I still would have supported him.

but the moment he got an INDIVIDUAL award... he quit  even if it was with the permission of his coaching staff... he fucking quit playing in a game he volunteered to play in

It has to have been discussed weeks ago. I just don't see it playing out that he decides suddenly to pull himself. Players know whats up.

Thinking the same thing but it is fucking cool.

I bet Pop Tart sales increase a little tomorrow.

Yeah, probably.

But fuck him in the goatass nevertheless.

Why are two big XII teams playing in the Alamo Bowl

Dillon Gabriel will likely break the record anyways, hes 3 TDs behind with potentially 3 games to play

Old Pac schools are still contractually tied to the Alamo Bowl this year and next.

I had no idea who previously held the record.

Because they don’t live in Texas and can go online and see people touching themselves.

If we can't have Bevo on the Peach Bowl sidelines, then we should let him out for a stroll on the field like Colorado just did with Ralphie.

It’s total bullshit.

Confusing … so Ward ducking out of half of a meaningless bowl game to protect a top 5 draft slot is totally different than when Bijan, Roschon, and Overshown excused themselves from the Alamo Bowl?

Must be the shade of orange shades …
