February 8Feb 8 Author 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 for Belinda. She was playing ITFs not that long ago after giving birth.
February 9Feb 9 That Munar kid from Spain curved for the match in the 3rd set yesterday and then got broken and then spanked in the tiebreaker, but… He is very good and fun to watch. Munar and Ruud both developed at Rafa Nadal’s academy on Mallorca 🇪🇸. They are fairly close in age and have practiced against each other many times over the years. Today’s final in Frisco features a rejuvenated Denis Shapovalov 🇨🇦 vs an inform, if not fairly boring, Casper Ruud 🇳🇴. I would like to see Shapovalov’s Ruskie-Canadian ass pull off the win.
February 9Feb 9 Author Raducanu lost R1 in Doha. Amanda trying to beat Vika. Potapova won Transylvania.
February 10Feb 10 8+ minutes of highlights from the Dallas Open final. This week Shapovalov beat the #1 (Fritz), then the #6 (Machac), then the #3 (Paul), and finally the #2 seed (Ruud) in the tournament. Fritz, Paul, & Ruud are all currently in the ATP Top 10. Shapovalov's first APT 500 level win and only his 3rd win ever. And his fiancée is a smoke show. Swedish tennis player Mirjam Bjorklund.
February 10Feb 10 Was the Dallas tournament upgraded to a 500 event this year? I recall it being a 250 level event.

February 10Feb 10 Author Polina Kudermetova ate a 42-minute double bagel as a lucky loser from the noted destroyer, Daria Kasatkina. There’s something weird going on with the sisters lately. Emma Navarro got demolished by Leylah too.
February 11Feb 11 Author Coco & Aryna both knocked out of Doha, Rybakina beat Peyton. Amanda up a set on Paula now.
February 11Feb 11 I’m watching Rybakina v Stearns on T2 it is like a man playing a woman. Rybakina is so superior to Stearns that it seems like it is just a matter of whether Stearns can make any particular game even interesting. In Rybakina’s eagerness to return a serve with a backhand winner, the (final) game has gone to deuce. But a couple of lates aces by Peyton have denied Rybakina the bagel. 🥯
February 11Feb 11 I spoke too soon. It is like Rybakina’s Adderall has worn off and she has completely lost her focus.
February 12Feb 12 I’m watching a replay of the 2nd set tiebreaker between Pegula & Svitolina and it sounded like some annoying kid started blowing a vuvuzela. SO FUCKING ANNOYING. The kid wouldn’t shut the fuck up and no one stopped to complain to the chair ump. I then realized that it was one of their fucking annoying calls to prayer. SHUT THE FUCK UP! Either have the players stop or do that shit in some mosque on the premises, but don’t blare that shit during play.
February 13Feb 13 Would love for this to be the week that gets Anisimova's career back on track. This is some of the best tennis she has played since her dad died.

Just a Russia vs Ukraine match for the fans.
February 14Feb 14 And the winner of “Iga vs The World”‘s latest grudge match is… Spoiler Only 4 games for Iga. That stupid forehand of hers “can’t handle THE TRUTH!” Edited February 14Feb 14 by Napoleon
February 15Feb 15 So three months away for Sinner. Conveniently he’ll return just in time for the French Open. What a farce this continues to be.
February 15Feb 15 no one cares anymore. they should just allow doping and be done with it. they should reverse all the doping penalties for all sports over the last 30 years. it is stupid.

I don’t just watch for the tennis… But this is the fittest that I have seen both the women in the final (I haven’t watched it yet) since I got the tennis channel in December of 2019. Anisimova was still a kid back then, so she was slim, but not necessarily in really good shape. Then COVID happened Then her dad died. Then she checked out, drank and ate, and got thicc… and her tits exploded. Now she has a really tight stomach, her boobs have deflated a bit (and are lower), and she can move around the court. She’s not Iga or Coco, but she can get to balls. Across the net, Ostapenko no longer looks like a padded barrel. I scanned through all of the points from the Iga v Jelena demolition last night and Jelena could also move to balls that were several yards away from her. I don’t know if it was a thyroid issue, or injury rehab that was accompanied by extended meals at her grandmother’s dining table, but she was way to fat to be a serious contender. At 28, I think that she realizes that her clock is ticking and she needs to take her fitness seriously if she wants another grand slam (or a man with some self respect). I will watch this final later today, but both girls appear to be headed in a very positive direction (mentally & physically).
February 15Feb 15 I do worry about Amanda’s future in one regard though… https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFHNmZUC9EK/? Edited February 15Feb 15 by Napoleon

February 16Feb 16 Author She'll probably beat brittle Emma though. And speaking of Emmas, Miss Navarro needs to get her head on straight this week too.
February 16Feb 16 “Good clean ball strike.” “A couple of big ball strikers.” Don’t know if I ever want to bump into Badosa or Sun in a dark alley, but they are playing now. Badosa won the first set. Sun just blew her first opportunity to break Badosa in the second set. (Paula is having ball toss issues in the breeze.)
February 17Feb 17 Author She got fucking smoked in 26 in the opener. Jelena has already lost. Women ain’t looking good, chapter 2765.
February 17Feb 17 Author Amanda rocked by Kessler. Clearly two weeks are WAY too difficult for the the little women.

She just had the biggest tournament win of her life and likely showed up to Dubai hungover. She likely picked up her first round paycheck and is on a flight home to the US to rest and prep for Indian Wells.

February 18Feb 18 Coco Gauff with her 2nd consecutive first round loss. Maybe she is just a younger Sloane Stephens
February 18Feb 18 1 hour ago, shadow_operative2.0 said: Kessler is being mean to her countrywomen. I think that she did Amanda a solid by beating Coco. Now Amanda’s tank job in the first round doesn’t look so obvious. 😁 Plus, being compared to post-COVID lockdown Sloane is the ultimate diss.
February 19Feb 19 🇨🇳 Zheng (7) 4 🎾 🇺🇸 Stearns🤘 3 Zheng appears to be decidedly better than Stearns and Stearns is being questioned by a team of physios, so the Tennis Channel has gone to a second set of commercials. Checking her blood pressure now.
February 19Feb 19 Author Raducanu was freaked out by a stalker at her match yesterday, he’s banned from the tour now. Edited February 19Feb 19 by shadow_operative2.0
February 19Feb 19 The Tennis Podcast was talking on Sunday’s or Monday’s pod that Elena Rybakina’s former/future coach is still banned from the tour for one year. Despite Rybakina saying that she doesn’t believe that he should be suspended, after they initially parted ways, he was suspended for emotionally abusive behavior towards her. 1) He screamed that she was stupid. 2) He told her that if it weren’t for him, she’d still be in Russia picking potatoes. Also, Rybakina’s manager has been fired and this ex-coach is handling those duties. Oh, and they are also sleeping together. Which is another thing.
February 19Feb 19 Zheng has absolutely lost the plot. She was hitting unforced errors all over the place in the 2nd set and her first serve percentage has fallen as her efficiency off of 1st serves. (She won 91% of her first serve points in the 1st set.) Stearns up a break at the start of the 3rd set, but looks a little wild on her own serve. Just saved a break point and now has an ad point to go up 2-0.
February 19Feb 19 Author Peyton gets her first top-10 win, that a kid. Navarro beat Belinda at almost the exact same time.
February 19Feb 19 Author Peyton gets Mirra later today, the youngster will have quite a bit more rest.

Hitting record and going back to sleep. Windchill appears to be 3°F in my barrio of Dallas. Will sleep well.
February 19Feb 19 The 17 year old Ruskie made Stearns eat a couple breadsticks today. What a beat down that was
February 19Feb 19 Author Emma can’t be losing that one to Sorana. Tauson beat Aryna rather easy Muchova over Kessler in a tough 3rd.
February 19Feb 19 Author I was randomly looking for something in last year's thread, happened to see this post. On 3/4/2024 at 11:27 PM, perfectchaos007 said: Indian Wells is going to give Venus Williams a wildcard every year until she "officially" retires. Tournament can pat themselves on the back for their reparations. Click on espn.com just now, fucking of course... Quote Venus Williams has been awarded a wild card to play in next month's BNP Paribas Open, which would mark her first tournament play in a year. The Indian Wells, California, tournament announced Wednesday that Williams, a former world No. 1 and seven-time major singles champion, had been given a spot in the main draw, with first-round play beginning March 5. Williams, 44, has not played in a tour event since the Miami Open in March 2024. Since that appearance, in which she lost in straight sets in the first round, her future in the sport had been uncertain and there had been speculation she had retired.
