April 23Apr 23 I was shocked to see that Sakkari beat a Wang today. It’s been ages since she has beaten anything.
April 24Apr 24 If I was Iga's new coach, I wouldn't be blowing my paychecks on useless stuff. Ostapenko just handed her another loss and she is currently in a dogfight with Eala (ranked 72) in the second round of the Madrid Open. Eala won the first set and they are on serve late in the second set.
April 24Apr 24 Author Iga survived, & in typical Jelena fashion, she's bounced right after her Stuttgart run. Coco just ate a bagel from Dayana.
April 24Apr 24 Coco lost 3 match points at 5-3 and then the double fault queen predictably failed to serve out the match. 5-5 now
April 27Apr 27 JPeg was destroyed by a 23 year old Japanese woman. Stearns on the other hand is making clay her favorite surface.
April 27Apr 27 Author Sofia bounced too. Peyton gets Aryna next. Svitolina just sent Rybakina home in straights.

April 29Apr 29 Iga wins the warmup 6-0 and then splits the next 2 sets 6-7, 6-4 to advance. The Sakkari roll back time machine continues against Svitolina a little later. For those of you that play tennis, how many times do you have matches that end up with lopsided sets (6-1,1-6,...)? I played in college (lower level) and have been playing USTA League tennis for years and I have only had a couple of matches that went that way. Even then, the sets were more like 6-2,2-6. I do play almost exclusively doubles now, so that is definitely a factor as there are fewer service breaks.

I have a pretty solid French accent for a person who can’t speak the language and yet would be lost with these two French names. 5 hours ago, ark_longhorn said: Iga wins the warmup 6-0 and then splits the next 2 sets 6-7, 6-4 to advance. I first notice this with Andre Agassi in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. A player gets behind and says “Okay, you get this set, now let’s move onto the next one and I serve first in the set. It occasionally happens in the ATP, but is rampant in the WTA.
April 29Apr 29 When Keys is on, her forehand is like an ATP player’s forehand. She absolutely destroys the ball and it’s fun to watch. She has also slimmed down quite a bit. Flat stomach and seemingly better stamina. Last week I was studying breast in the Keys vs Kalinskaya match and both ladies had extremely flat stomachs and tight tops to help me with my amateur research project. Keys’ rack has definitely dwindled since her early 20s whereas Kalinskaya has gone with a heavily padded bra this tournament. Perhaps dating men’s #1 & fashion model Jannik Sinner has required a step up in on-court appearance/desirability. 😎

May 1May 1 Coco wins the first 6-1. Interested to see if she continues the dominance or do we get the "WTA Special" and Iga wins the second easily.

May 1May 1 I have gone from being annoyed that Iga beat Kenin in the 2020 COVID French Open Final to liking Iga and her Ukraine support to not being able to stand Iga and her tantrums/ stupid forehand/ gamesmanship when she asks for time when receiving and she has been ready to receive for 10+ seconds… Big FUCK YOU BITCH with that gamesmanship crap. Don’t care for Coco’s similar forehand and mental meltdowns, but they seem to be minor versions of Iga’s. So today… Go Coco! Saturday… Go [winner of Sabalenka/Svitolina… as long as Sabalenka isn’t still screeching when the ball has already crossed the net to the other side of the court… more gamesmanship that I do not like.]!!
May 2May 2 A lady at the Madrid Open today watching Draper 🇬🇧 v Musetti 🇮🇹. Draper took the first set, 6-3. Sad to see Ruud 🇳🇴 beat Cerundolo 🇦🇷 in straight sets. Edited May 2May 2 by Napoleon
May 4May 4 Author Sorana/Kalinskaya win Madrid in their first ever pairing. They have to be way up there on best-looking team in recent memory.

I don’t think that Sorana is as hot as others on this board (I didn’t know about her 7 to 10 years ago), but she has a great smiley persona. (She could use a nose job, but it’s not necessary.) Every time I see Kalinskaya, I think that she is more beautiful than the time I saw her before. She is just delicious. The way they would giggle together after some points… On to the dudes… Jack Draper should have beaten Ruud, but choked when serving for the first set up 5-4. Also, Draper is a very good clay court player, but he isn’t a threat in Paris, because he’s too big to win a beat 3 out of 5 tournament on clay. If his dad hasn’t been the president of the London Tennis Association for a while, Draper would have played rugby at his prep school. Draper is a very large dude. I just looked him up and he’s listed at: 6’4” & 187 lbs. No way he is only 187 lbs. I would put him up closer to 195 lbs to 200 lbs. So no way Draper’s body can hold up in Paris to advance beyond the Quarterfinals and he may wilt before that.
May 7May 7 Author I’m ready for the Arianna Zucchini match later. If that ain’t a perfect Italian name…

May 7May 7 The USTA was really hyping this chick up for the last few years, now she’s dead to them She lost first round today Her American father had a lot of fun 😉 playing pro basketball in Europe Edited May 7May 7 by perfectchaos007

She made the right choice. I’m sure that a WC invite to the Italian Open in 2025, and maybe 2026, along with financial backing was key to bringing the young Italian girl back home. Naomi Osaka winks with understanding.
