And the squirrel on Cesar Chavez got it because he couldn't make up his mind.  If he'd dashed across the (nearly deserted) road, he'd've been fine.  But no--he had to stop in my lane and change directions four times, paralyzed by his indecision about whether to finish crossing.

Look, bud--it's icy.  I'm not hitting my brakes for you.  And I'm not changing lanes.  Particularly when I can't figure out what fucking direction you're going to decide to go.

But it's ok--all is not lost.  If you just hunker down in the middle lane as I drive overhead, you'll be fine.  In fact, you'll get a nice little warm breeze from my exhau . . . Nope.  Thunk.  Dumbass.

Taqueria taco special now.

Need to go put my three peak mountain snowflake tires to work since they saw zero action in Taos

That crunch under the wheel is unforgettable.

Sun is now out shining and the surface snow is melting pretty quickly/

Kids had some fun and are warming up now getting ready for round 2 of playing. Sheep said they moved to Texas to get away from this.

Anyone wanna take bets on Austin-area schools tomorrow? I'm predicting two-hour delay.

I think the districts that encompass large geographically areas will be on a delay (Leander) but I bet AISD is on time. By this afternoon if the snow is mostly melted they will be in time I bet.

Somebody on KUT gave a cautionary remark that if the melting snow/ice doesn't all dry up today it could re-freeze overnight and cause delays on Wednesday.  fwiw, I'm looking at the downtown streets from my office right now and it looks like they're drying up pretty quickly.

Still snowing down here in Iowa Colony (south of Pearland).

Sun has been popping out for several minutes at a time, and we are about to go above freezing, so it’ll be gone by this afternoon.

Houston should be an interesting case, supposed to get up to 38 today but currently its 29 and feels like 13.

Several inches of snow on the ground.  All schools already cancelled tomorrow but roads seem fine so far...anyone encountered ice?

Suuuuure, the “dog” did it

Just got back from the hills at Stude Park. Musta been tubing with the kids for almost 2 hours. Maybe 2.5-3 inches of snow on the ground

Getting flashbacks to 2021…luckily no power outages or sounds of trees splitting in half from across the hood.

Why do your pictures look like they are from a 1950’s spaghetti western?

My thermometer is weathered I guess....I'll take a picture of the whole thing next time. It was a gift from my youngest, he was visiting Mount Rushmore and just knew I needed a thermometer.

I’ve been in a four week war with two squirrels. They keep eating the branches off one of my trees. So I’ve tried various techniques to try and scare them off, with no luck. I’ve resorted to just throwing tennis balls at them. Two days ago I walked up to within 6 feet of one camped out on a limb eating, and I whizzed the ball within an inch of his head. He just looked at me and went back to eating. I despise these animals.

My cat has absolutely went scorched earth on the tree rats. He stopped leaving birds and just leaves me dead squirrels now.

I drove into work and there are only a few people here. I got so much work done with it being quiet. Very efficient morning. Now I am realizing how dumb it was to not bring food. Hopefully something is open today in South Austin.

You can fish if you are wearing a full tyvex suit and gloves.

Also, are all the houses there a shade of Dwight Schrute's shirt ensemble?

In rereading it I think you can fish there.

Temps supposed to get back in to  upper teens. Any chance this puts a dent in the fire ant population?

Not enough snow to cover the grass in south Brazoria county.  Lame

For those of us who grew up in Houston, looks like February of 1973.  That was a pretty good snowfall.

Why would it? The fire keeps em warm

meanwhile, in balmy tropical New Orleans…

It is really snowing pretty hard right now and it is 26 outside.

i’m supposing the ants all surround the queen and masturbate so that the energy and heat produced keeps her warm and she survives.

So I've always wondered -- do you think she really needed those braces, or they were cosmetically installed for dramatic character effect?

Hello neighbor. We got more than I’ve seen in SE Texas before here, but yeah I think it missed us just a hair to the east.

The fact that you and I ponder the exact same deep questions bothers me very, very, very, very much.

I bet there will be enough ice overnight to delay AISD.  May get below 20 tonight.

One of the holes at the Circle C disc golf course...

Which reminds me, one of EvilMopac's pictures once again confirmed my suspicions he lives in Circle C
