Yeah forecasts have gone up 2inches/day since wed. No way we get almost 14 inches

Pretty sure AISD and the City of Austin will close if we get even two inches.  Can’t blame them becasue whatever we get will be tomorrow night and will be frozen Tuesday morning into the afternoon.  Question is when will they call it.

All the Houston area ISDs closed through Wednesday. Frozen snow bodies in trees expected.

RR closed as well.  I’d welcome a day to just chill but these weather events never happen on a Friday evening, where it’d get us out of 8a Saturday basketball, but always after a weekend when kids have to be managed while on calls all day.

LISD closed on Tuesday as well to complete the area.

Forecasts looks to have shifted the colder temps a little sooner in Houston and bumped the low temps up a few degrees.

I have a healthy fear of frozen water pipes. What are the downsides of just turning off the water to my house, at the meter, for 36-48 hours during the extreme lows? I can have water stored for drinking, washing and the toilet. I assume some remaining water in the pipes could still freeze but could that still burst the pipe?

and in some unexpected case of absolutely needing a hot shower, I could turn the water back on. I live alone so there wouldn’t be anyone in my ear complaining about the lack of running water.

Do- this is what I’m doing. Turning off my well tonight. Emptying my pipes completely, going to Lake charles until Wednesday night. Turning back on my water Thursday morning when it’s above freezing.
I don’t stay in town when weather events happen. No interest in being anywhere without a power grid.

I've done this for the last few snaps. As others have suggested, fill up a bath tub, drain all the lines, etc. Also, turn off your hot water heaters. You don't want them running dry.

I am not too worried about this go around, and am just going to drip teh lines nad open the cabinets.

Supposed to have jury duty Tuesday in Houston. Surely that will be cancelled. Right? RIGHT?!

Oh no doubt. But the casino will have insulated pipes, generator and all the comforts of civilization I’m not positive I will have at home, especially when I shut my water off for 36 hours.
rooms are free (2) for the humans- costs 150 to bring the two dogs, this is a no brainer for me.

I would rather be in my home with no water and no power (this won’t be the case since this won’t be an ice event) than in a casino in Lake fucking Charles.

I’m not going back through the last few pages but what about tomorrow?

This gal I’m occasionally banging on the side has a dipshit boss that had some big mandatory meeting on cutting costs and efficiency and motivation crap (sounds like her boss got hooked on Tony Robbins videos) in Houston on Tuesday, and last I heard he’s not canceling it, so she was  going to fly from Dallas to Hobby.  Which is not very efficient and is definitely not cutting costs, but whatever.  Anyways, she said she booked us a five-star hotel for  the night.  She mentioned a niece that was going to be tagging along on the trip, but I’m not sure if niece by marriage or by blood, so I’m hoping things don’t get weird and that the niece is elsewhere.

So is Hobby open tomorrow?

Yep, Conroe ISD closed through Wednesday.  My office is taking a "It's your responsibility to correctly assess conditions and stay safe" attitude.  Yeah, that's going to be a no from me, dawg.

Dude, Lake Chuck is going to catch it worse than the Houston area.  The further east you go, the worse it gets.

Again, there will be water and electricity there for sure. There will be no water (and maybe no power) at my house. I live on 6 acres in Huffman Texas and the power is always going out at my house. The chance of a tree limb freezing and taking out power lines is high.

Still an odd choice to escape east instead of west. Lots of good sex tent locations out this way.

Yeah, Latin America's weather may not change much, but damn it can be descriptive.
