You're a known poster of bullshit. You wake up at 8AM Moscow time and spam the board with hate from "January 6th political prisoners" and get butthurt when called out on posting propaganda as perfect

Citing Rod Blagojevich’s thoughts as expressed to Joe Rogan is possibly the most insane way I’ve ever seen someone argue against the U.S. justice system.

My favorite city in the world.

What a kick to the balls, my heart goes out to everyone there in NOLA.

No steel/concrete barriers on NYE after this shit happened at Mardi Gras in 2017 and after that recent market attack in Germany that killed 5 people. What the fuck?!?

went a few weeks ago and notice they were down, which i thought was strange.

bet they no longer work due to typically nola maintenance philosophy.

Lack of fake paper plates is the giveaway.

I saw one as well, but with all the AI BS and engagement farmers, it's hard to take things posted on Twitter too seriously, until more info gets out.

well dude, fox has been correct on a hell of lot more than the regular networks.

Or typical Louisiana state leadership purposely not giving Nola funding because “reasons”

this was really shitty to wake up to. I’ve heard conflicting reports on the sugar bowl

They should ratchet up security and play the game as normal. Fuck that guy - don't give him any posthumous victories.

Because you need camo when driving a white truck in downtown NO.

Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed the FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism. He said the the Justice Department’s National Security Division, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana are working with local law enforcement and "will deploy every available resource to conduct this investigation.”

Yeah I can't really see any way around it.... Too many people in town already and if you were to move it out it would be a ghost town and be a real disservice to the winning team having fewer days to prepare for the following rounds.  I get that the sentiment is people may not want to be there anymore and I fully get that but there is no other way forwards.

Thoughts and prayers to those who died, those who were hurt, and those who love them.  It's probably a good thing I'm old and didn't feel like driving to Atlanta because were I 20 years younger I probably would have partied my ass off on Bourbon last night for NYE to talk shit to the Dawgs and Domers then slept a couple of hours in my truck and gotten up super early this morning and kept driving to the 404.

UPDATE: We have confirmed the truck used in the NOLA attack was a @turo rental. The man who listed it lives in Houston and has already been contacted by federal investigators.

And by contacted, they likely mean door kicked down at 3:30 am this morning.

This makes me tired just reading this.

They are. City police said go about your day, just avoid bourbon street today. Extra security sweeps at the Superdome. Game will be played as normal.

The situation seems fluid with the game

The explosives found in the truck likely ratchet up the level of checks and caution being taken

Dominion says hi

Eesh. Family and I just got back from NO.  Matter of fact, my son and I happened to see the Georgia team buses arrive at their host hotel.  At least most kids were inside or asleep at the time.  Really sad to hear about.

New info is he a Texan that served in military. Again, info is coming in fast—not all verified

I’m in NO a lot and have walked down that stretch of road many times. I’ll be there next week.  I’ve never felt unsafe while walking around the French Quarter. It’s going to be a little different now. Thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.

which border.  Which military?

Based on the photos, this looks to be where the truck finally stopped in front of Prohibition and the Royal Sonestra. NYTimes says the truck entered Bourbon at Canal Street. If so, he drove two and a half blocks before stopping.

I had a close friend staying at the Royal Sonesta. They had already gone in and are fine. She says her youngest daughter is pretty shook up.

Blue flag thingies on the right is the Royal Sonesta.

Before I even clicked I knew it would be property manager. Profession of peace.

Regarding the barriers issue:

A street security system protecting Bourbon Street was under construction.

A person on a bicycle pauses near several rows of metal and wooden barriers blocking off a street in New Orleans.
A police barricade near the section of Bourbon Street where a vehicle drove into a crowd early on New Year’s Day.

The city of New Orleans was upgrading security bollards along a section of Bourbon Street in the area where a man killed 10 people early Wednesday by driving a truck through a crowd, according to its website.

The project involved replacing old bollards — barriers designed to protect pedestrians and property from vehicles — with removable stainless-steel ones, the city’s website said. It is unclear if any bollards were in place during the attack.

At a brief public appearance on Wednesday morning, city officials declined to answer questions, including about whether bollards could have or should have prevented a vehicle from accessing the site of the attack.

Anne Kirkpatrick, the New Orleans police superintendent, said at the news conference that the driver of the truck “went around our barricades” to conduct the attack.

“He was hellbent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” she said.

Superintendent Kirkpatrick said the city implemented additional security measures for New Year’s Eve, including deploying more than 300 officers last night. In an interview with The Times-Picayune earlier this week, she said the officers would be supported by 60 Louisiana State Police troopers.

The district attorney of Orleans Parish, Jason Williams, said in an interview on Wednesday morning that it was too early to say whether bollards were in place or if the driver had navigated around them.

“That information is not clear yet; it’s still being looked into,” he said. “But driving a vehicle into a crowd is not particularly a thing that any law enforcement agency can be prepared for.”

The construction project covers a half-mile stretch of Bourbon Street, from Canal Street to St. Ann Street, according to the website. Officials at the news conference urged people to avoid that section of Bourbon Street as the authorities investigated the attack.

Bourbon Street was taped off by the police on Wednesday morning, with a dozen police vehicles parked at the intersection with Canal Street.

During construction, the city said that the bollards would be removed and replaced with temporary asphalt to allow vehicles to pass during construction, according to the website. The new bollards would then be installed in phases.

The new bollards would close the street to cars during pedestrian-only events but could be stored away to open the streets to traffic, the website said.

Pretty much. As long as there is no more threat then getting the info right instead of infinite rabbit trails of hearsay is important.

Except our national obsession with clicks and speed overides accuracy and consequences.

That only shows that it may have been long planned out.

Fuck, I was just there this past weekend on Bourbon Street. Was also in Stillwater the day of the Homecoming Parade. Too close. What a twisted world.

That’s what Pete Thamel said. Based off the stadium being closed right now. Probably for security sweeps and whatnot.

Bourbon street is closed today.

Maximum Security for the route to Superdome this evening.

I went to the sugar bowl last year and stayed in the french quarter. There didn’t seem to be a main route per say. We all just kinda headed west-ish. Providing heightened security the whole way over would be very challenging.

That being said, the east / northeast side of the stadium pre-game was packed. If there’s heightened security, I suspect it will be focused there.

The drone experts from last month now don't understand how a car tail light works:
