Had a helluva storm blow through yesterday evening. Torrential winds, hail, and rain that lasted all of 10-15 minutes. Quite a bit of damage in the downtown area.

Fortunately, my neighborhood was spared the worst of it.

Knocked over the outdoor gas patio heater and there were leaves in the pool.  Scared the shit out the dogs, but no damage.

Damn. I was about to guess that was The Settles, but I wasn’t sure because of the angle. Love that hotel.

I'd been out of town for a week or so and got back Saturday but was too lazy to restock the fridge, so this morning I drove across town to Starbucks and the hail/wind damage around town is pretty significant: windows out in several places, signs fallen over, pieces of metal roofs, power lines down, couple of uprooted trees, broken branches, etc. Fortunately, the hail only reached about a quarter-size diameter in my part of town. Still, it was blowing sideways and crashing against my windows.

I hate it when that happens.

A few more photos of damage stolen from local FB accounts:

I didn't know the Rolling Stones were still touring.

You should've seen what it looked like after Led Zep came to town.

levee broke?

We got right at 2 inches last night near Love Field (that's what she said). Saw Delkus' 14-day forecast and the hi during those two weeks was something like 93. That gets near the back end of June with no 100-degree days, which is great. (Of course, I'm sure it will be humid AF instead.)

Nah, that was 1986. Clifford Antone was being held in the minimum security federal prison here at the time and helped organize a benefit concert with Willie as the headliner to help raise funds for the community.

True story. Good guy.

This was issued at 12:30 this afternoon, so these totals are in addition to this morning’s rain.

Woodlands getting crushed.

Nuts. So glad I took all my trees down last year. Tired of replacing roof every 3 years. Uggh

We missed out on that. We did end up with 3.5 inches of rain including the storms this morning.

We probably won't get much outta this in Austin, the bottom half of the line is weakening a lot. North of us should get storms, though, and once again it's raining in The Good Place.

#1089

Looking like the stormy part is breaking up but we my still get a decent rain in NB. I'm not mad about the storms missing us since my boy is at nature camp and they're supposed to be kayaking today. I told my wife to mention the weather to them when she dropped him off.... "I'm sure they know" was her reply. Sigh... A lot of people don' t pay attention to the weather, which is why you see those videos if idiots stuck out on the lake during a thunderstorm.

That line blew through here at about 3 am. Usually, storms don’t wake me because I keep a fan running for the white noise and the cooling breeze, but I heard this one loud and clear.

Fortunately, no hail this time.

It would be better if that was about 50 miles west, but we can’t complain about rain in June.

The fact that it shows NB with the highest total is how you know it's bullshit.

Ugh.  Solid red line of storms heading straight to Austin from the west since about 4 AM, and then... poof.
