I will never, ever listen to Kenny Chesney, on the boat or otherwise.

Also, question-- will it ever rain in Austin again?

Not if you keep playing Kenny fucking Chesney.

y'all hate, meanwhile I'm getting laid while watching the sunset on a boat in the middle of the week. I win.

Friday isn't the middle of the week, and it's 10 am, AND why are you typing on Surly? And you could be doing all that without listening to Kenny Chesney.

"Hey doc, I have a problem.  I can't bone on a boat unless Kenny Chesney is playing."  Yeah, you'd get some therapy for that.

Everyone knows that Al Jarreau is the best boat sex artist.

Anyway, pretty sure it rained here in the 78751 last night and the thermo dipped to 67 on the porch… keep it continue!

No rain here but temps in the 60s in June?  Yup, I'm down.

After '23, it's not likely you'll ever hear me say anything about too much rain, but I think we're good here in Houston for a few days. Wasn't expecting it to rain today, but it just started raining sideways in the middle of lunch and looks like another big cell is heading this way around 3.

Rain off-season talk worse than football off-season talk.

True true.  Check out the football off-season talk on the aggie thread, it's more appealing.

I’m not complaining since it’s been keeping the temps down after the scorcher last week.

It was gross earlier before the rain though. Temp only hit 91 or so, but all that rain from earlier in the week started evaporating and "oppressively humid" is still not sufficient to describe it.

Yeah, I took my pup on a two mile walk at 11a. It was steamy to say the least.

Neil Diamond songs should be sung with the deliberate passion and intensity of Jacques Brel. A good punk band might work.

Damn. Death toll now 11 in San Antonio. Several still missing.

KSAT

SAN ANTONIO  UPDATE at 3:30 p.m.: The San Antonio Fire Department said 11 people are dead from Thursday’s storms.

The 11 fatalities were confirmed on Friday from a news release sent to KSAT via email from SAFD.

The fire department stated that all the fatalities are from the Salado Creek area, located near Northeast Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel.

Several other people remain missing, according to San Antonio fire officials. However, the number of missing people is decreasing.

A joint statement was released earlier on Friday from the city, SAFD and the San Antonio Police Department.

“Our hearts are with the families of those we’ve lost to this week’s flash floods and the families who continue searching for their loved ones,” Ron Nirenberg said in the joint statement. “I want to personally thank our San Antonio first responders and their families for their sacrifices toward the recovery efforts. Erika and I will be praying that those who are missing are found without harm.”

Fire officials said on Friday that they responded to at least 70 water rescues and 16 high-water investigations.

Rained a little bit today in Texline. Sunset pic was about 9:15 Texline time. Of course about 100 yards from that pic it was 8:15.

The next 2 weeks look promising.

This to me suggests something tropical in nature.  Maybe a storm crosses over from the Pacific?  I don't know, but his has been a great summer so far. Buchanan will be up 6 feet in the last month!

Crazy….7 inches of rain in a small amount of time.

UPDATE: 11 are confirmed dead and several still missing after Thursday’s flooding in San Antonio, hitting the West Side and Northeast Side—near Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel. Heavy rains (up to 7 inches) swept away 15+ vehicles, with SAFD rescuing dozens but struggling to locate all…

Speaking of Gruene, my wife and I met some OOT friends there today. Got an easy open table at Grapevine winery, then had the whole upstairs to ourselves at Tacos y Tequila for a couple hours, then spent the rest of the afternoon at the outside patio of Gristmill with a handful of other people for another 2 hours.  Not really that busy anywhere.

Rabbit Ear Mountain.  Love that country out there…Rabbit Ear from the top of Black Mesa a couple of years ago (about a 100 yards from Mountain Time too).

Leaving the airport and it's coming down pretty good. Looks like just a little pocket of it, though.
