I would interested in getting some sort of confirmation on this one.

I was out on a run and saw the clouds roll in.  I was at Prickly Pear and West Rim when it started to rain.  I made one block to Cat Hollow before I turned early to go to the house.  Then made it 4 houses before I realized I needed to take cover (maybe two blocks from the house).  Huddled up next to a garage and saw all sorts of big branches come down and a shit ton of hail.
There were six-eight inches of water going through the street by the time I finally started to make my way back home.

that gas station on Greystone should give you an idea. At a minimum, it was a strong downburst, I saw it go by. Have been through multiple hurricanes on the coast and hadn’t seen anything like that around 2222/nw hills. I doubt the 75mph estimates, based on some of these pics. I think it shot down to Mesa from the top of the hill1038d367745ae8730ed49a358bacda14.jpg

Just got home no power in 78757. We were at Mission Impossible at the Village Alamo and right before the show the theater flooded through the emergency door. The water went all the way to the 3rd row. The show went on.

There were piles of ice in yards. From my neighborhood FB page in Mueller

I don’t doubt it - just looking for something official.   It scared the shit out of me.  Once I turned on to Cat Mountain going toward Mesa, I could barely see in front of me and then it started hailing.  A second later, I saw a branch fall to my left and sparks coming from a tree to my right.  At that point, I knew I wasn’t making it back to the house until this blew through and found the first covering I could find.

That was all in 30-45 seconds.

Man y’all act like it never rains in Austin

Not 2 inches in 30 minutes.

So the funnel cloud spotted near Georgetown/Liberty Hill was..a landspout funnel cloud.

Weather explainer: Landspout funnel cloud spotted in Central Texas. What is it?

He added that these type of funnel clouds are usually weak in nature, but in rare instances can become very strong.

“So while they’re usually weak in nature, then they can still do and cause damage. This one looked to have lasted for about a minute and a half, according to some reports we had from emergency managers in the Georgetown area,” Bannin said.

He went on to describe the cloud, saying that the clouds above the funnel or tornado don’t rotate, unlike supercell thunderstorms that rotate along with any tornado

Is that a lot (of water)? It looks like a lot.

Looks like a lot of stupidity driving into it.

Shit, a lot of the stuff they’re showing is pretty near our casa. Drive down that stretch of Steck whenever we come back from a soccer match. Saw fire crews headed that way as I drove home.
And that Shell station is where I pulled in to take my aunt’s call back to me so I could tell her my dad died.
Our casa fared ok - decent amount of hail, plants took a beating, but not anything worse than that.

Fingers crossed power comes back over night. Kids last day of school is going to suck if there is no power in the home.

Was at Scholz when it went down. Saw some limbs blow by. The back patio had a lot of smalls come down. Nothing big. Part of the awning by the tiny truck blew off but just bent over like Austin during a May storm.

Walked back through campus. It was a damn mess. The Mulca hall construction site was a mess. The crew was already on site with fork lifts picking it up. Battle oaks are fine. Didn’t even see smalls down over there.

Two very large limbs were lost on the west mall. One nearly took out the bus stop across from UFCU. One is laying across the stairs down to the old post office.

Trash cans and lids and saw horses everywhere. Trees under the pedestrian bridge by PMA were in Dean keeton. UT facilities were already cutting it up.

The big oak next to Texas Global fell across 24th and took out the street lights. 24th completely blocked.

The military flags at northwest corner of DKR took a lot of damage. Half are gone.

Highway signs over 35N at MLK exit were hanging down and traffic was diverted off highway.

I'm a block off red river over by Hancock....that was some shit. The windows in my house facing north were taking a pounding from the hail. They are older windows, so I'm surprised they held up.

I went out on my porch and at some point if you would have told me I was in a weak tornado, I would have believed you. That's probably the hardest I've ever seen it rain.

Still no power and I couldn't even get data on my cell phone until just about 20 mins ago (Verizon). I won't complain too much because our outage is the only one around me showing "crew assigned" on the outage map.

I think my car survived the hail, but I'll wash all the leaves and shit off tomorrow and look for dents.

still no power, said could be days before some parts of 78757 and 78731 come back on. Super

This is when shit got real in Hyde Park…

Thankful to have power back and good luck to those of you still waiting.

My area got incredibly lucky yesterday. I surmise bc I’m far north and this shit was moving so fast. 💨 hoping everyone affected gets power back soon.

That second video is nuts time lapse.

yep.  My backyard neighbors have leaves stuck to their 2nd story windows and their screens are shredded.  I have a big live oak in front of my north facing windows, so mine made it through mostly ok.

More than a few people called in to work today to say their power was out and would be working from home.

How is that supposed to work?

Driving through the neighborhood this AM, it’s clear that we were very lucky. The storm was also very indiscriminate… one neighbor had a 50YO oak fall into their yard with no damage… another had a ~250YO oak fall right on their house.

It’s an absolute mess out there and was wild to see how much lighter the damage got as I drove north.

Did they notify the office via email, and close it with "Please respect my decision" Because in that case, you have to respect their decision.

Power came on at my place at around 1:30 at my place, so I cant really complain. COA says they have restored power to about 60% of those affected, which is pretty impressive considering the pummeling that the overhead lines took from tree limbs. So many crazy videos out there. Just an amazing display of how amazing/nasty nature  can get.

Keep dumping rain on the lakes. I am very pro this.  Maybe a cell stalls and just keeps pouring over the Pedernales?

LOL, right...

Best we can do is park a cell over 45th and Shoal Creek and try and have Shoal Creek overflow and top the 38th Street bridge.

I think Shoal Creek Saloon floods when two or three people water their lawn at the same time in Allandale.

And in any case, is re-opened within 24 hours.  That place is a magical treasure.

Plus, if you eat out back you might catch a glimpse of the rare homeless piss or dump.

Is that what you call it when the fart bubbles up the front and escapes from one of your fupa folds?

I always wondered what that was called!
