My daughter just told me 26 missing. She’s 17 and reliable but sometimes might not have most up-to-date info. My wife (also Waldemar) and sisters in law have heard directly from moms with still-missing kids.

Just had a friend send me that video. Nightmare fuel.

I got my boy out from La Junta. As far as I can tell the whole camp got to high ground well in advance of the bad stuff and watched the camp get obliterated. My son is 8 and they took the younger kids

Fuck me...that's scary as shit. I'm a useless keyboard commander and shit like this makes me want to do better, do more for the world. Those kids didn't deserve to wake up to this. Hope they all make it safely home to tell the story.

La Junta had 5/6 cabins wash away and counselors were saving boys left and right

A friend with two boys there sent me a message that she had received from a mom that has a son there working as a counselor. The message said the counselors rescued 60 boys out of cabins that were flooded. Those counselors are kids themselves. Remarkable work by those boys to save campers.

Just got this from my friend with boys at La Junta:

Just got this a few minutes ago: Again EVERYONE is safe! We understand there are many questions and concerns, and while we don't answers right now, please know we're working closely with local authorities. The safety and well-being of your camper's remain our top priority, and we'll provide updates as soon as we can.

The cabin video has been deleted and according to comments it wasn't video from Mystic

That’s what I was hoping. It looked like men in the cabin from what I could tell.

Grabbed my son and nephew from Stewart last weekend. Niece finished Waldemar last weekend as well.
I’m really good friends with the Mystic owners, and am waiting to hear another update from him.

The friends’ houses that were destroyed were in Canyon Springs, directly across the highway from La Junta.

An AFD buddy (who had the 4th off) and I are loading up his truck right now, and heading to meet two more friends with flat bottom boats in Ingram. We’ve got permission to try and launch with another friend who’s a Kerr Cty sheriff’s deputy.

And it’s still pouring here.

Saw report Llano River flood stage level is 10ft.  Currently 2.5ft but expected to crest at 10.5ft.

Wonder if flood gates at Wirtz Dam and Starcke Dam will be opened soon??

Lake Travis should benefit from water from both Pedernales  and Llano/Colorado flows...

"Devastating and deadly flood" from the presser.

They have numbers about missing people, but will not be reporting them until a scheduled 3PM update.

Hearing that too. Maybe La Junta?

Those counselors need to have scholarships founded in their name.

La Junta has been adamant that all are accounted for. They would be creating a shit storm if they weren’t telling the truth to parents right now. Let’s not spread unsubstantiated information here. There are lots of parents with kids at these camps that are already worried enough.

Just said not every kid is accounted for at Mystic.   Said there are some stranded too

Jesus. My girls have 4 good friends there now and we know countless others.

Press conference is getting very contentious.   Reporters wanted to know why the camps weren't evacuated, answer was I don know.   Yikes

Yeah, that was rough.  Rudi Koski from (local) Fox.

No what I meant was that could’ve been a video of a cabin of boys - not that there were any missing. I doubt the video is from this flood event.

I’m in Kerrville. And it’s been pouring since 10pm last night. It hasn’t slowed down yet.

My nephew’s wife helps run Honey Bear Creek girls camp.
Just heard they are all safe hunkered down in the main dining hall withno power.
All the camp canoes were washed away and the kitchen employees cannot get to the camp.

Mystic moved their campers from the “river camp” to the second camp that’s located on substantially higher ground.

Really interested in how much Canyon Lake rises.

Sucks it takes tragedy in Kerr County to get significant water added into Canyon... 😬

For clarity, he didnt make it out like there was known missing, just said he couldn't confirm that all were accounted for.   Also said there were some that they knew where they are and are working to get them.

I was a camper at Stewart during the ‘87 flood and that shit still scares me.

And yes tropical storm for the win! Fill those lakes!

The Federation's Weather-Management Net must be down for maintenance today and the past few days.

Folks, this is a slow moving system. This shit ain't over. Just loaded up some ropes and a canoe on my buddies truck. Lots of friends live in vulnerable parts along the Blanco and San Marcos.

No comment when it came to fatalities and missing but ominous tone from the county judge and mayor. The mayor was barely able to speak.  Worse than the '87 flood.

Update from officials at 3P.

So, last year we had some pretty good floods near August that put a bit over 2 feet in the lake.  The ground was dry as fuck then and the water table was low so a lot got absorbed.  Now the water table is up quite a bit and the ground has been pretty soaked over the last couple of months so the lake should catch quite a bit more runoff.  Here's a crazy visual comparison of then compared to now, river-flow wise, from the gauge right now in Comfort.  All heading here...

That August spike was just above 16ft, btw.

Mystic just posted a note - said parents have been notified IF their child is unaccounted for, doesn’t sound good. Said the Highway was washed away.

I'll answer that one.  The adults in charge were not paying attention to the weather, or they said "nawwww the water can't go THAT high, it never has."

Just trying to put out what can be found. This was the first real reference to a news report on my former camp Waldemar so I wanted to share.

we all realize things are fluid right now so nothing is 100% but it’s encouraging to hear any news regarding Waldemar at this point,

Several dozen still missing at Mystic, all from the very youngest cabins. I’ve got friends with kids there who are confirmed safe but know the exact situation there and they are inconsolable.

Take a moment to pray to your god, karma, whatever today.

Like Waldemar ever had cell service. Sorry, bad joke.

Truth.
I cannot imagine being in this situation now when I was 19 being a camp counselor there. Much less when I was a camper.
Hopefully they have been evacuated but like most of the cabins are up on the hill. Nonetheless.

the flyer from mystic is incredibly worrisome. Fuck. People are notating a lot of helicopter activity over the past two hours over camp mystic. Based on X comments,

I'm not sure exactly what this means -- are they expecting Lake Buchanan to absorb all of the floodwater from upstream (San Saba River -> Colorado River)?

We just heard about a particular girl, one that was the only one in her cabin unaccounted for.  You heard several dozen. I heard 26. It’s past Noon. I have a feeling this is going to be very bad.

Seems like ass-covering for, "It doesn't happen until it does."

Shit... in college I dated a counselor there -- danced at Crider's
