Just stood on the back porch for about 10 minutes. Temp dropped about 15 degrees in a matter of seconds. We'll see how my new roof handles this.

When it came through here, it went from 88° at 6 pm to 64° by 8 pm. Crazy winds up to 44 mph. Current temp is 56°.

Like I said, this is a strong one.

I got my boy out from La Junta. As far as I can tell the whole camp got to high ground well in advance of the bad stuff and watched the camp get obliterated. My son is 8 and they took the younger kids

I went from "damn it's muggy out here" to "fuck i need a jacket" in a span of maybe 30 seconds tops. Not complaining.

Shit, my trashcan is still on the street. Let me know if you find it please.

Today was trash day and I did not pull it in.

Nice light show, lots of sirens (usual for San Marcos on a Friday) but damn they are all over the place. Heard a few tree limbs go down.

Ran out and staked down the trampoline about 30 min before shit hit the fan. Glad I did.

Now NB is in the green. Please stay that way all night. Supposed to have an 11am soccer game and I'm the coach. They cancel games for standing water and this is the last game of the year - doubt they'll reschedule for U7. It's been a rough season and I want it to be over :D

Start drinking now. It will be fine.

Oh, I know. Like I said yesterday, here on the edge of the Chihuahua Desert, it was muggy as hell right before it blasted through. That chilly air when it came through and then all day today was wondrous. If you guys survive the the hazardous shit tonight, you're going to love the fuck out of it tomorrow.

Right now it appears that the two main thrusts of this front will converge right before Houston.

Prepare thy anus…

I had to start late. The teenage daughter is on the dance team and didn't get back from the football game in SA until 11. Wife wouldn't let me drink anything before I went to pick her up.

I just landed at ABIA and had to drive to Dripping springs. THAT SUCKED. The rental car had the worst wipers in existence.

The temp feels great right now.

1.5 inches in Cedar Park, which is enough if you know how to use it.

Two inches per my rain gauge at my casa in 78717. With likely more rain per the radar from 9 am until 1 pm today,

pretty good website: https://precip.ai/rainfall-totals/zipcode?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21567963973&gbraid=0AAAAA9nhibyECp7bon9zFOWcqh4BUXAOh&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpri7z6q_kAMVNy7UAR0i_Bo5EAAYASAAEgL23vD_BwE

SIAP for the website but it gives you the average rainfall totals in a particular zip code. I am too cheap to get the app for that site. website said 1.83 inches so damn close. Obviously the rain gauge was bone dry.

If they had a better coach, the season would have been much better.

Coach Buttermaker said the problem was you drank too much in front of the kids.

Did it rain at @utee94’s house?

Indeed it did.  It's a Halloween miracle!

I don't understand how my getting curbside at Whataburger and taking a photo of the rain while parked and waiting became a bitch session about curbside at HEB, but I guess Surly is gonna Surly.

1. Remember where you are

2. Why not use the drive through since it’s raining dick? (See 1.)

Teed off at 7:30am, before first light. Walked 18 in 2:45 hours. Shot a 77. Haven't had below 70s temp for a round of golf since April. With the overnight rains, there was no one on the course. Our own private course walking in sub 70 degree temps. Got damned it was almost like Colorado at 7000 feet in August. It was a glorious morning.

So was there actually a tornado near Wimberley last night? SM people are pissed that their fancy new sirens never went off.

Not that I have heard of. And yeah, the sirens never went off.

There was.  12 and the Junction.

Most of the spice is east of us, but it’s still raining in the ‘51 and I’ll fucking take it

Holy shit. It's raining cats and more cats over here in the '49. And I think some hail, too.

Wasn’t expecting that. It definitely dumped in 49. No hail for me luckily

Still a steady rain here. Sitting out back with a cocktail enjoying it.

"In the eye of the storm" is a show on hbo that covers natural disasters. Lots of footage of Texas tornadoes. The number of dumbasses standing next windows recording with their phones is rage inducing, but its great footage.

i mean, i got a damn notice from alexa that there is a flash flood watch in effect for Travis on Nov 20th

a 2 day in advance FF watch seems like a much earlier pre notice than we got before July 3rd this year.

Field day was postponed for Friday in 77079.  So I guess it's pretty serious.

So are we now living in a situation where we get ridiculously early warnings even when the odds of any rain at all are rather slim?  The Chicken Little Doctrine, aimed at avoiding litigation and political fallout, can't possibly lead to any unintended consequences.  I'll believe it's going to rain when I see it falling from the sky. Anyone who has lived in Central Texas for more than a season or two should know that the odds of rain are higher when it's not in the forecast than when it is.

Well now we know for certain it will never rain again.
