We should petition the NCAA to allow us to play them in Michigan uniforms.

Gonna go with reverses jinx so I can eat crow

The way osu played today will fuck us dry without lube.

if we score a TD in the 3rd qtr we could win

We should petition the NCAA to allow us to play them in Michigan uniforms.

We have to play better than we have since Alabama 2023 to have a chance to win. I question if we can - we are offensively broken

I mean, is there any rule we have to wear orange?

Great matchup. I think we can slow/stop their run game and make Howard make plays. Big test on the outside. Jeremiah Smith is ridiculous but Egbuka can be contained.

Probably need 30 points to win which is a big ask. Definitely the best defense other than Georgia that we’ve played this year l, and I’d say Ohio State’s may be better overall - but maybe not where they can really attack our obvious weaknesses?

Ohios st blew their load tonight and we had erectile dysfunction.

we win next Friday.

I thought OSU blew their load against Tennessee, somebody forgot to tell Oregon.

Chip Kelly worked Oregon’s fraudulent DC over today - basically took the Penn State game tape and went up a level.

PK’s seen Chip’s offense multiple times and we have the athletes to defend it at least OK.

I'm going with this in my head for 9 days.

Rematch game. I felt Ohio st was gonna win anyways. Didn’t expect it to be a blowout though

We need to remind Howard he is a KSU player masquerading as a blue blood.

We should have just skipped from the preseason to the quarterfinal round. Nailed it after excepting for the cfp rules of auto byes for conference champs:

Oregon got so screwed.

how many draft picks are going to be on the field at jerryworld next Friday?

Any idea how the tickets/seating for the Cotton Bowl work?  Is it likely to be 50/50 tOSU and Texas fans or is it likely to be weighted in Texas favor?  Anyone know which team is the "home" team (and wearing their home unis)?

We are home as the higher seed. The game is in Texas. There will be more Texas fans.  Tickets get allotted in a lot of ways. Some to schools some through Cotton Bowl itself etc. But again the game is here so well yea

We need that 2023 Texas vs Bama Sark and Quinn to show up!! Run just enough and let Quinn win you this game.
I think Quinn found something at the end of the peach bowl.

It will be 70% Texas fans. Dallas people have money and will outcompete the Ohio people for tickets.

In order to win, this team is going to have to show up in the...

16th game of the year, and do things it has thus far not been capable of. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one and will instead just be pleasantly surprised if we elevate our game.

Howard's ceiling isn't as high as QE's but his floor is higher.  They can actually run the ball usually.  And their defense is very good as well. Their safeties are ELITE which would be the best position group on the field if not for their receivers who are freakishly good and catch everything.

For Texas to win this, we have to do a few things all at once, which we haven't done much this year:

  • Plus 2 turnover battle
  • Consistently run block and go on at least two to three 7+ minute drives
  • 75% Redzone TDs
  • No negative ST plays (no FG misses <45 yards, no bringing the ball out on a kickoff 5 yards deep and starting on our 10 yard line, no getting fooled AGAIN on a fake punt)

Basically we have to be able to play downhill run the ball offense and control the clock like ASU did to us.  That's the path to victory.  Unfortunately it's also not our identity at all, which leaves the other path, which is rocky: shootout.  We may have the horses on Defense to do the shootout path but I don't think we do on Offense to consistently score enough.  If they score 35+ we are in big big trouble.  If they score >21 in the first half we're in big trouble, because you know we piss ourselves in the 3rd Q.

We need to stone the run, sack Howard and turn him over, get some timely turnovers and ST plays be be up by 10-14 at the half and then pray that we don't give it away.  Blame QE, Sark, whoever we just don't have the killer instinct right now and we play up/down to the competition.

Sark should let his nuts hang.  We should be team running fake punts (or fake FGs because...Bert), going for it on 4th down, and running trick plays.  Let Ohio State feel the pressure.

I don’t think anybody should be called a pussy for being impressed with what Ohio Stste has done the last two weeks. They had the toughest draw in the field and completely annihilated both teams right out of the gate. Shock and awe both first quarters, and the games were over.

i think Will Howard is a spare but there’s no denying the talent at WR and that defense is elite at all three levels. Our two games against the only comparably talented team we played in Georgia don’t necessarily inspire confidence and this Texas team has shown a distinct ability to play with its food and just be generally inconsistent on offense, not to mention our place kicking woes.

That said, I like the intangibles in this game for Texas. Ohio State will hear how invincible they are for the next 9 days. Texas is a fantastic underdog. Texas can hang its hat on clutching up when they needed it most, which they have essentially done all season to varying degrees. Texas has played dominating football all year but the scoreboard hasn’t always reflected the dominance.

Horns are going to have to play their best game of the season to win, and they are a td dog for a reason. But it’s not too difficult to see a path forward to win. Gonna need great db play. Ewers is going to have to be special. If we could get some running game going, that would be helpful. And we can’t afford to lose the turnover battle.

Just keep it close enough for Ryan Day to start getting in his own head and have the band play The Victors.

Each school only gets 13k seats.

OSU is down 2 starting OL from the beginning of the year and are playing a guard at LT.

We need to bring pressure.

The semi finals and finals were always going to be coin flips. There were no dominate teams this year and every team has warts. Yes OSU has played lights out the past 2 games but they arent some mythical team. Each of the past 2 games they had reason to be upset and play with their hair on fire and they did. The blueprint is there to beat them and we have the horses to do it. 2 coin flips to be the champs. Thats how the next 2 games will be. Best we could ask for with this team and its make up.

Any official surly tailgate happening?  Or unofficial, where are people hanging out before the game?

Anyone able to find data on PK vs Chip Kelly?   They had to have coached against each other several times

PK has played against Chip Kelley’s offense 3 times and won all 3. 2008 and 2009 when PK coached at Boise State and Kelly was at Oregon, and then again when PK was at Washington and Kelly was in his first year at UCLA.

Welp at this point we suck now, so least we won’t have to worry about pats on the backs.

everywhere you look , “Texas sucks” “Texas got bailed out” , “Sark shits down his leg” “Texas can’t run the ball”

Like I’ve stated in another thread, Sark and Quinn need to muster that 2023 Bama energy when nobody thought it could happen.

jerry world better be sold out and extremely loud

I think Texas will play its best game it’s played all season, after the let down with Arizona State.

As a former player, the best games I remember playing was after the let down reality check game.

I think Texas finally puts it together and puts the nation on notice. Do we win honestly idk but I think we’ll see the best Texas has looked all season.

Az St game was not a let down. Two very good teams battled damn hard. Az State coaching staff did a damn good job of adjusting in game. Any playoff W is not a let down

you live to play another week

We haven't played in the Cotton Bowl since the game was played in the Cotton Bowl.

We definitely played down to the competition, as we have done all year. They played a great game.

I see your point but let’s be real, Texas put themselves in that position

it was 24-8 with 6 min left with the ball, and we found a way to give up 23 points in 3-4 mins. That’s a let down but give Arizona Stte credit, they capitalized. But we definitely let them into that game.

It's kind of ridiculous to look at that last 6 min of regulation in isolation.

First of all, we gave up 16. You only get to 23 by including the first OT, which is a different animal altogether.

And those 16 came when, yes, we made some mistakes, but it's not like it was some complete collapse. The defense was absolutely gassed. There was a lot that led to those two scores late in the 4th.

This is the first game we've played as an underdog all year.   Put me in the camp that I feel like that might be a good thing psychologically for this team.   But we're going to have to play our best game of the season to win for sure.  Absolutely have to play complimentary football.  Our defense can't be on the field all game.   We can't have stupid pre-snap penalties that constantly put us behind the chains.  Cannot lose the turnover battle.   We do all those things it absolutely should be a 4th quarter game.  But Ohio St. also has the ability to run us out of the gym if they bring their A game and we play like we did the 2nd half yesterday.

Also interested to hear injury news.  The wear and tear on this team is a real factor with the schedule we've played the last 2 months.  I'm assuming at this point only practicing in shells and not tackling to the ground in practice.   Defense in particular needs time to recover after playing all those snaps yesterday.  We're certainly at a disadvantage from that standpoint.

I mean you can look at whatever you want, I chose to look at the last few min that due to the fact that’s when things changed.
and thus my point still stands, I understand other things contributed but we allowed ASU To hang around in that game and make a run late.

but oh well spilled milk, on to Ohio State

Fuck it - I’m calling it now that we’re going to beat Ohio State.  They shot their wad against Oregon and we just got a big wake-up call on coaching complacency.  Somehow we’re going to pull it together and beat that ass!
