My head says OSU wins in a romp.

My gut says OSU wins comfortably.

But my testicles say Texas pulls out a squeaker by the miracle of ten pound tiny infant baby Jesus. I’m going with my testicles.

Nuts!

We should petition the NCAA to allow us to play them in Michigan uniforms.

He's surly AF in that press conference.  Not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but he never smiled once.  Don't believe I've ever seen that from him in a lead-up presser.

That’s what struck me. Normally he tells stories and is pretty personable. This one very terse/direct. No BB material for OSU as he was super complimentary to them but you could see he was seething underneath.

I hope he fucking brings the pain Friday.

I think Sark, like a lot of smart dudes loses focus on things at times. That’s especially true when he doesn’t have strong motivation or strong interest in the subject. You can see it at times with the running game. It’s not his passion and he tends to gloss over the details at times; I suspect that was a part of the problem with ASU.

Based on demeanor, I have no doubt Sark is focused and motivated now.

Imagine having to spend that much time around Kurt Bowels and FCB. I would be pissed too.

I swear I’ve seen that Rick Vasquez on a wanted poster somewhere.

I'm very hopeful Sark comes up with his version of the "frog draw" that Quentin Griffin is still scoring with. (I know, too soon).  Not too tricky, just something solid that other teams have never seen, or at least haven't seen from us in quite a long time.

The offense was actually decent against PSU - consistent and effective.  Closed the game out with manball; Henderson averaged 5.5/carry and Judkins 6.8.  What set us back and made the game close was turnovers - a pick 6 from Will to start the day and he also fumbled going into the endzone to kill another drive.  14 points directly on those two plays.

This is the type of game I expect to see on Friday - good production but nowhere near the same explosiveness as against Tenn and Oregon.  The turnovers are the thing - Howard (or anyone else) gives the ball away like that and I expect we lose.

I think the biggest thing our teams have in common is that at times they just can’t quit stepping on their own dick. This game is the best matchup on the field this post-season.

It looks to be a tight game, unless the aforementioned dick stepping gets out of hand.

It's a metaphor for how well our defense will contain Smith.  Just barely.

Will Howard (QB) not being drafted

So if you really look into the numbers Ohio State absolutely feasted on the bottom feeders in their conference. Supposedly they are the number 1 rush defense in the country but if you look at anyone with a pulse they played the numbers are different. Against Nebraska, Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, and Tenn they gave up over 4 yards per carry and between 120-172 yards per game each. It's the quarterback play that wasn't good against them outside of Oregon. Nebraska threw for 152 and a pick. Penn State threw for 146 and a pick. Michigan threw for 62 yards and 2 picks. Tenn threw for 104. They just haven't been challenged by a good quarterback at all other than Gabriel. If we run the ball for over 100 yards look out!

I can't remember the exact wording of his question but Bowels asked Collins or Hill if they lacked a killer instinct.  What a dumbass but, yes... feed that fire.

I feel like chip and cirk both have pushed Sark beyond his limit so much he is just pissed when they ask stupid fucking questions or even legit questions lol

Consider me fucking stupid for not realizing the game time (5:30 mountain time) - nothing like popping that edible early on a Friday after work.

Maybe they weren’t interviewed at that time, but yeah, they needed that chip in the rematch against UGA after their first performance.

At least the UGA front 7 has been an NFL draft pipeline. ASU… not so much

Sark should he asked that question after every game. Every other question should be that.

Curious what running scheme those teams used if they primarily got those yards running between the tackles or running outside plays. It seemed like our outside zone scheme floundered against faster, more athletic lines like Georgia or ASU, and flourished against bigger “stronger” lines like A&M.

Ohio State’s D isn’t as athletic as Georgia imo, but they are close and in theory have the makeup speed to catch up to our outside zone/screen plays. I wish Sark would have a little more willingness to run Gibson on inside zone because that sets up the RPO plays (like we did against Michigan and Florida), but I don’t think he has the willingness to change it up this late in the season.

I think there’s an opportunity for you to hit a few big plays on the ground - Blue is a great back and when your OL clicks you’ll pop one.  I’d be very surprised if you’re able to sustain multiple drives by grinding it out - outside of Oregon in round 1, none of the teams you mentioned really did so.  For example Tenn got half of its rushing yardage (65 yards) on their last drive of the game with its starters vs our 3rd string.  PSU’s RBs averaged 2.4/carry - it was Allar and Warren of all people who boosted their rushing stats, and their offense totaled 6 points and 270 yards.

IMO your offense’s best chance is to establish an intermediate passing game to stress our LBs in coverage and pull them back from the LOS.  Styles has a lot of physical talent but he’s often out of position; JTT is a superior DE but he will overpursue a few times on the read option or RPO.  Then find the right circumstance to hit us deep over the top or with some misdirection in the run game.  Oregon did this well in October and I think you’ll be moderately successful at it - Quinn is certainly capable.  What will hurt you is the lack of a QB run game, so using Arch creatively (but sparingly) could boost you there.

Eloquently stated, and I concur.

I'm sure its been linked but, yeah, this is fun to watch because there is no sunshine at all... (edit, you may need to take it back to the start - may have screwed up the link)

Sark looks pissed off going into this game.

Walking through Prague just now and found the most unexpected of souvenirs. I’m taking it as a good omen.

Also lol at Blue being the tiny one with no front number.

A friend of mine brought me back a set of these from Russia many years ago.  The largest one was Hodges Mitchell, the smallest was Casey Hampton.

Come on buddy. It's Nebraska, Penn State and Michigan. You know damn well what running scheme they were using. Straight fast balls with the occasional circle change. IMO, you are correct with Ohio State. They aren't Georgia. They go 6'5 260-270 at the edges, and 6'3 327 and 6'3 300 at the DT's. Georgia is even stouter up the middle but much more athletic on the edges. They weren't giving up explosives against those teams in the run game but they were getting themselves in manageable 3rd downs. Oregon was 6-14 on 3rd down. Nebraska was 5 of 16. Michigan was 7 of 14. Penn State? Well, they were too busy Franklining. If we can run the ball and get to 3rd and short we have a good chance to beat them. The question is will Sark be patient enough? That dudes loves him some deep shots. He just can't help himself.

Show your work. No one on this site actually believes that. He is explosive in space, fast as fuck, but prone to fumbles and occasional dropped passes.

I did. There was one other set at that store, if you/anyone want me to buy the other and bring it back.

Explosive and fast as fuck is probably what you need here, though.  He’s going for 5.7/carry over the last two seasons, that’ll get it done.
