January 3Jan 3 Popular Post I like Texas being the underdog. That being said, January 10th is my birthday, so can I pretty, pretty please have a Longhorn win against the couch fuckers burners?
January 3Jan 3 I don’t know if this has been posted already, but if you weren’t already a bit concerned about OSU, going into yesterday’s Oregon game OSU had not given up a passing TD in any game since the first Oregon game. Holy cow.
January 3Jan 3 Longhorns should rush Ohio St QB and hit him early and scheme Jeremiah out on defense. Time for the Kwaitkawski to earn his pay and shut down Ohio state offense. This is time for Sark and team to win it all. If michigan can do it , Texas can do it.

Holy cow. They didn't play any good passing teams in that stretch either. The next time they played Oregon, they gave up 2 more passing TDs. Our defense only gave up 4 passing TDs before playing Clemson, then Klubnik threw 3 of them. We kept ASU from passing for any TDs other than the RB pass play when Muhammad lost his mind.
January 3Jan 3 Popular Post Feel like this game is free money for me emotionally after the last one when I’d given up hope multiple times. Let’s ball the fuck out tho.
January 3Jan 3 Popular Post What kind of fucking take is that? You don't think PK has earned his pay this year? He deserves a raise.

Looking at their schedule Oregon was really the only 'good' offense they played all year (Indiana solid but not explosive). They had 2 WTF games against Nebraska (barely won) and then obviously Michigan. They have almost certainly played their best games of the season in back to back weeks. I don't remember if it was Klatt or Pate in their previews (both picked Texas to win but ASU to cover) but part of the reasoning was essentially that it is hard for college teams to play "good" back to back weeks and an expectation we would play down a bit. So hopefully that holds up for OSU this week. We'll need the big breaks to swing our way (turnovers, big special teams plays, etc.) just like Notre Dame did earlier today.

January 3Jan 3 When will Sark press conference be? I'll be interested to hear his approach to game prep with 10 days between games. I saw Mukuba and Barron both played over 100 snaps which is just insane. With as many snaps as every defensive contributor played, probably tough to figure out right balance between practice time and recovery. I'm guessing heavy dose of non-contact scout team work.

They said Texas is the best DL they've faced all year and the only other comparable DL was Michigan who gave them issues. Ohio State is down 2 starting OL but have been surviving because they haven't really faced a ton of talented defensive fronts. I think our DL can create issues in this game. Mobile QB’s give us issues. Will Howard is not mobile and stands in the pocket. Time to tee off.

January 3Jan 3 Who's going to score more yards next Friday, our receivers or running backs? I'm going with it being a great Running Back day for us.

I knew when I posted that stat it would be immediately met with rebuttals and rationalizations That's Surly, and pretty much every message board, in a nutshell. People just want to either argue or make themselves feel better. But the reallity is that giving up one passing TD the whole season between the book-ended Oregon games is a fantastic feat, even if you were going up against G5 teams every week. As far as Texas' D, I think most on Surly would argue that Texas' defense was one of the top three in the country. I'm not quite sure where OSU sits. They do lead in points allowed. I haven't watched them enough this year. They are obviously very good.
January 3Jan 3 Popular Post This final four is a wet dream for ESPN. Absolute blue bloods of college football. I am already getting the vibes that I got in 04/05 before the USC game. We have no chance and OSU is by far the best team this year and blah blah blah. It will get a lot worse these next several days….

Though maybe just move the Orange Bowl to Saturday and just deal with going up against the NFL Wildcard. That sucks. A lot of people would be in a bit of a jam. Flip side of that would be an extra day of rest before the finals. From a coach’s perspective, I wonder which they would prefer?
January 3Jan 3 No way they will change that now. ESPN will dominate the TV ratings in prime time on both Thursday and Friday nights. The answer to all of your questions is money.

January 3Jan 3 4 hours ago, Paper_jam said: Our early season jitters are out of the way now, everything is gonna come together. Sark is going to have a strategic game plan, and not kill drives with silly fancy plays that take ages to develop. Quinn is going to scan through his progressions like a Cray supercomputer, throwing laser bolts to the best open man. His pocket awareness will be Jedi-level. He will decisively use his mobility when necessary. but not in a panicked or haphazard way. Our OL will open huge holes that our RBs will gash them with. Blue will not fumble. Our special teams will be ready to jump all over any stupid fakes. Auburn will have calibrated his leg and fixed his hair with a Johnny Unitas cut. The defense will continue to be excellent and will pressure and disrupt their quarterback without losing containment. We will make solid tackles, limiting yards after contact, and not give the opponent extra downs through defensive penalties. You had me at "Johnny Unitas"...
